Toecutter Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I'll have to fire the old girl up this weekend and go for a decent drive just to make sure all is well. Hmmm...I do need to get some fusable links. Very well done Craig! 19 Z's is impressive. It's gonna be a ball. Sulio Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 10, 2009 Administrators Posted February 10, 2009 Very well done Craig! 19 Z's is impressive. It's gonna be a ball. That is impressive guys, well done indeed. I'm sure you will record it in awesome fashion and take plenty of awesome photos. Should be good if the surprise works out too . Quote
chris240 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 So is the cat outa the bag Craig.... Quote
620Z Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 No news yet Chris. I am hoping to hear something today. It is possible they want to make a very late call to avoid any press. Quote
620Z Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Ahhh crap. I booked dinner and luckily I got him to email the menu. Bit fancy at $35- for 5 only mains and $8- for sides not to mention entree's & deserts. Bugger that. I think our best option is to just rock up at the Bistro where we are staying for a Pub meal. A lot cheaper and still coming out of the same kitchen. We just may not get the ideal seating arrangement since I don't think you can book in that room. Still working on it. Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Yeah, that might put a few people off at that price...! We can always move tables around in the Bistro if we have to, Craigo Quote
sco_aus Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That is a bit steep... Bistro sounds good Quote
chris240 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Simon spoke to rydges Alpine today and they can accomodate 3 beds in our room...so now Scott no2 is around a 70% of comming..he'll confirm tomorrow. Now , If Scott no 1 can get his car in time from the spray painters ??? Quote
Rhino73z Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Have changed the booking from a twin room to a quad, as Scott No.2 is a defiant. Tally up another for the ACT branch! By the sounds of it there are other rooms still available at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel if anyone else wishes to join at the last minute. Quote
sco_aus Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Ok, so, my datto wont be ready till Saturday and still has about 12 hours work before its driveable, so I wont be bringing my Z. However I will be there no matter what and have asked the ACT guys for a lift up or ill just drive the Landcruiser up. Either way, ill fricken be there!!! Quote
620Z Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Just to let you Vic guys know I will be bringing an air pump and puncture repair kit. Does anyone have some of the radiator repair stuff (Putty) or should I buy some to be on the safe side? I am also bring up a small eski to keep some drinks in for the long drive. It might be an idea for some others. Looks like the weather is going to be reasonably cool (as in not hot) so that is good for the trip up. Sulio I have the camera mounted in the car for some nice shots and camber all adjusted. I hope you others are good to go. 3.5 days to go. Quote
Toecutter Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 yep all set. Any body else bringing a vid camera (miniDV)? Sulio Quote
sco_aus Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I could bring a tape one. Also, ill ask a mate if i can bring his suction cap camera mount, really strong and brings up wicked views. Quote
Surly_Z Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I have a miniDV camera and digital SLR. I also had a rumage through some of my old camera equipment from Uni and found a bunch of super8mm cameras and film stock! I'll bring that along too and hopefully capture some Zeds in a historically correct format! They're old cameras, but they were tested last year and produced some fairly good pictures. Quote
chris240 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Craig any visitors coming we should know about Quote
620Z Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Good question Chris. I spoke to them yesterday and still not 100%. They are 98% coming but now talking about leaving around lunch time (busy in morning) and meeting us up there which I thought odd. I think they will be there. The way I figure it if they come along it will be a bonus. If not it doesn't matter much as we will have a great trip anyway. 2 more full work days to go. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think we can get fuel in at Threadbo. So make sure everyone fills up before hand. I plan on bringing along some extra fuel just in case. Some other might want to do the same. See you all soon. Quote
Surly_Z Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 So we can get fuel in Jindabyne I assume? What's that, 20min drive? I'm not too familiar with Thredbo, only been there a couple of times. Quote
sco_aus Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Yeh about that. But they definately have 98 octane. Quote
Rhino73z Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Jindabyne definately will have fuel...all those ski bunnies in their BMW's need something to get up the hill? Think there is a small servo at Khancoban but don't quote me on that and I'd be doubtful what fuel they have...best to fill up before heading up the Alpine way. I presume Craig this is still the plan for the Vic guys? Scott, Mikka said he was a goer to travel down to Khancoban. Are you still interested in a lift down that way or will you go directly to Thredbo? Car tuned and ready to go! Quote

I am keen as to go via Khancoban, i will have a mates suction mount and i'd like to do some photography. Makes sense since everyone else would prefer to drive their car than film others cars.. Simon, good to hear, who did you end up getting to tune it? Quote
620Z Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 Hey Chris did the BP have 98 Octane fuel in Thredbo? Also can one of you guys send me a direct email if you wanted to meet up prior to heading into Thredbo? If meeting up we can organise rough times to meet and where. Then you can email your group off line. Cheers Quote
