Well, if it has been done to the same standard as Gavin Strongman's 260Z, that went for $45,000!

Well it does look nice.....GOODLUCK WITH HIS ASKING PRICE

It's a bored out L24 with a racing stripe over the top, if he was asking around $30K I'd say he's in with a good chance, I have a feeling alot of these recent cars are from people who bought into the whole "Classics are worth a fortune" bit. I think we've all heard it from someone or another trying to sell us there car, "Mate it's cheap coz I don't have time to finish it but just look at the GT prices" ye well these aren't GT Falcons, even in Japan this car would be somewhere around $25K-$30K.

If he gets it then that's great but the economy really isn't at a point at the moment where these kind of prices can be sustained, as I have mentioned in another similar thread the cars that started this whole thing off aren't really selling that much at the moment. The prices for these cars have come down considerably in some cases for the ones that are selling while others just sit their without even a bite.

Agreed, Little bit off topic.

Recession hitting and it can be seen in all resale values of cars.

You can get an R32 GTR, thats right a GTR, for around 11-12 grand. Honda DC2 Type R, the one that i sold last year for 25k, now 16k.

If your in the market for a new daily driver... i would suggest to wait a bit. The reason being the recession so far isn't making people that desperate yet and prices can still come down further. Whats more is that in 2006-07 financial year there was 1 million vehicles sold within Australia, that's 1 in 24 people bought a new car.

So... wait and you may be able to pick up a 06-07 car for a bargain. Of-course that being said its probably a commodore or a falcon or a corolla or a yaris, as they dominate the market sales.

He spent $56K??

This guy is a resto shops wet dream  :D

Don't know about that, a full checque book resto could easily spend that much to do the lot.

I just had a planning meeting with my restorer for my Charger yesterday. I have already spent $10k on the body, another $8k in bits and pieces for the car, my study doesn't have much room at the moment with the parts being kept safe and sound, and I'm still looking at spending another $30-$35k to get it on the road. There's another $15k in the body and paint alone, $6-7k for the motor, another $1k or so for the drivetrain if we can use what parts I already have, $1k to rebuild the brakes, and the rest to put it together, so the dollars add up quick if you want a good job done.

With $56k spent he's still copping a fair loss on the investment, I would hate to be in his position to have to sell what looks like a very nice car.

It looks like a great car, he contacted me a while ago, may have been just after I left Australia so 10 months maybe? He was wanting to sell it then but at 50k. I don't think he had any interest at that price range.

It is a bit steep to ask that much for a Z at this stage - especially in Australia where we under appreciate and under-value them (my opinion only here).

I think its definately worth $30 - $35k but 40k is a bit of a stretch. I know myself I'd love to buy it but I don't have the coin and I would be trying to get it at 30k the cheaky brat I am :).

I'm with George; it's not a very well presented ad.

Especially when a 40k price is being asked...

Man I hope it's a track 6 pack or something similarly rare, otherwise you're really wasting your time not to mention money, no offence  ;D

Nope, just an XL, but try to find a Charger these days.....Especially one that can be restored.

No offence taken, and I knew the dollars would be steep, I was thinking around $25K, but I got talked into a few more things to finish it off properlyand make it something really special.

Also not worried about the dollars as I won't be selling it unless someone offers me a stupid amount of money.

I reckon the owner of the Z would have been in the same boat, otherwise why spend the dollars on a leather interior and so on. I have been in the same position before and vowed to never sell any more cars, no matter what the cost.
