Scando Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 All still sounds a bit out of my price range. The Haltech should do everything I need and is quoted at $1,500.00 on thier website so i think that's the way i'll go. I don't want to pay extra for a heap of functions I never intend on using. Quote
C.A.R. Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Yeah, that's kinda my point Shane. Unless your going to use DL'ing functions etc, then there's not much point. It depends on how fast you want to go. And if your comfortable enough with the Haltech brand, then stick with em. Quote
zzzzed Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I have heard the new Wolf 3D is very flexable Has Any one delt with these? My Datsun 1200 with a super charged a 15 had the wolf 3D v4.5 and i had no issues with it, but i was not racing though Quote
Scando Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 I've also heard good things about Wolf for the price. Took the car for a run on the weekend with the LSD fitted and a new sprung button clutch and heavy duty pressure plate from Stewart Wilkins Motorsport. All felt good so the car is just about ready for the rally now. Just gotta fit a harness I'm borrowing for the event to keep Bluerat in place Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 21, 2009 Moderators Posted January 21, 2009 I'm currently using the new Wolf V500 and couldn't be happier with the setup. Alot more features and adjustability. Costs around $1800 and been using it with the RB25. Quote
bluerat Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Heres a couple of photos from the weekend........All he has to do now is get rid of that silly turbo, fit a grunter N/A donk and use that rally licence he has!!! Quote
bluerat Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 A couple more, sorry no action shots yet Of course the handbrakes works officer......... Quote
zzzzed Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Nice! The zed looks right at home in between the euro exotics Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Good stuff Shane! BTW that Daytona stole your colour!!! Quote
Scando Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 That's a great photo parked next to Mick's car in the bush at the airwalk. And probably one of the last pics of Mick's car while it was still straight, poor bugger That red one was a nice car. Lurch, we were more than happy to be mistaken for the Daytona all weekend. Man that thing has some go!!! I don't know about the photo of the two posers at the finish line Thanks for navagating Bluerat. I'll see if my brother has some action shots to put up next time I visit him. Quote
bluerat Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Found 1 action shot on the 500carclub rally site....... Quote
bluerat Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 We are the last car, after about 8 minutes. What its all about. This is how fast you can go in a Commadore. Quote
Scando Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 haha, wrong link Hodgo! Try this one The incar footage from Glenney through the Pelverata stage is awesome knowing how difficult that was. A few more actions shots: Quote
bluerat Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 He, he sorry about that, close but....I wish I saw your face after waiting 2 hours on dail up to watch eight minutes and no green zed!! There were NO Datsuns at all in Rally Tas this year.....sad but true, when are you starting on that N/A motor??? Quote
Scando Posted February 17, 2009 Author Posted February 17, 2009 when are you starting on that N/A motor??? Maybe when yours is finished so you can take me for a run in it and show me what they're like Luckily I was at my brothers place with broadband to watch the videos otherwise it would have been an epic disappiontment! bluerat Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 News on the street is someone cleaned up at the CAMS award dinner last night?? Quote
Scando Posted February 23, 2009 Author Posted February 23, 2009 News on the street is someone cleaned up at the CAMS award dinner last night?? I wouldn't say cleaned up but got a pleasant surprise Went to the track yesterday to test the LSD and a new front end set-up with more -ve camber thanks to some offset strut tops from Bluerat. The car felt fantastic to drive but the lap times were no different. So now I'm puzzled whether we've actually made an improvement but the track wasn't quick yesterday cause there hasn't been a race meeting there in 3 months or whether the car is simply no quicker. It definately felt better though. I also destroyed 3rd gear so it looks like it's time for the FJ Turbo box I bought from d3coy. A season of racing plus Targa Wrest Point from a standard 280ZX box behind an L28ET is a fair effort though! Quote
bluerat Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Is it time for an undate Mr Bond?? It looks the goods people!! Quote
garvice Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 First of all, nice car, looks like you have done well. Motec was $7k for the computer WHAT! Sorry for the interuption, but I think someone is getting mislead a bit. I paid less then $3500 for a M600 with Loom, Datalogging, map sensor, water temp sensor and air temp sensor. If your getting quoted another $3500 for installation, then I think you should give it a go yourself. Computers are not hard to install at all, mine only has the three sensors, two distributor signals, 6 coils and 6 injectors to wire up. Not that hard and well worth saving $3500 for. Quote
sco_aus Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Yeh, I think i got it wrong, but meh, there is no longer any Motec tuners in canberra with the mass reduction of the Bates Automotive staff. There are a couple fo good tuners with Autronics here. Quote
Scando Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Is it time for an undate Mr Bond?? It looks the goods people!! Thanks mate Haven't made it to the track yet to see if some of this stuff works. Hopefully I'll get to the track over easter because round 1 of our series is on the 19th of April. The list of improvements since last season is: -Offset front strut tops so it now has about 4 deg -ve camber per side (thanks to Bluerat for lending me his to copy) -FJ20 gearbox purchased from d3coy last year -KAAZ R200 LSD purchased from vindicare last year -ZG Flares -17x8.5 front and 17x9 rear Rota RB's with 245/40 fronts and 255/40 rears. Managed to get the ride height similar to what we were running with the 15's and still keep the same amount of suspension travel thanks to the strut tops mentioned previously and a matching pair for the rear but without the offset................And our dear friend the angle grinder. -R33 gts-t front calipers on custom mounts with 326x30mm rotors on custom hats. Big thanks to my mate Chris who saved me a fortune by making the hats and mounts for me. -Intercooler waterspray (cost me about $5 so it could by my cheapest performace mod yet if it's effective ) Still haven't bought a new computer but Mr Rudd might help me towards that Might be glad I held off cause Haltech have some new products on their website which look good. I think that's everything. I'll post some pics up soon. Quote
Scando Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Hurry up with the photos already!! haha, I still have to take some so I can post them up. Will do it over easter. I've also decided to go for the Patrol 1" master cylinder. Hopefully it will arrive today or tomorrow so I can fit it before going to the track over easter. Quote
Rhino73z Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Excellent work Shane...great to see a 30 year + car is so competitive! And thanks for the detailed info; it is inspiring me to finish of my projects...so keep it coming! Quote
Scando Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Thanks Rhino I went to the track on saturday and did the best times I've ever done and I don't think there was much grip in the track still so I'm very happy with the car. The intercooler spray worked a treat too. I did about 6 laps to get the engine temp up to where it normally runs in races (about 3/4 of the way up the gauge) and then turned the spray on. Within 2 laps it was down to half way down the gauge which is cooler than it runs in races even of the coldest of cold days through winter. It's a pitty I don't have an inlet air temp gauge to see the difference there. Quote
