Gordo Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 Use this as a drive day. Good chance to sort your cars handling out . do the first session and have a de brief with all the guys, what its doing and what its not doing. try a few things out for the next session .Or go as a passenger to feel what other cars go and handle like. like a drive day. Meet at Sandown 7.30am, do some laps, have coffee. do some more laps and have more coffee. OdinZ 1 Quote
OdinZ Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 I am planning on coming down to watch & have coffees, didn't even think of the passenger idea.....maybe I should finally buy a helmet! Gordo 1 Quote
Howdy Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 These are very well run events, always plenty of track time to use your brake pads and fuel up. 20 min sessions, usually groups A to F, 100 cars max, minimum of 4 runs, only stopping to remove cars from sand traps etc. Any type of car can enter, from bog standard to GT3 cup cars (damn freaks of nature). Self scrutineering (yep that's correct - tick off a checksheet). I find the runs come around too quickly to be honest. If you want a garage get there early, most can fit 2 cars. I'm planning on going, probably will check the weather forecast 7 days out in case of torrential rain. Been playing with the fuel and boost maps again so will be using it to test that out and fine tune some more. Will be good to catch up with some of you Guys. OdinZ and Gordo 2 Quote

Gordo Posted June 1, 2019 Author Posted June 1, 2019 Weather forecast fine and sunny. Not to late to enter. You Don’t need to be a member of a club. Hopefully we get a few Zeds out there. Or come out and see if you can score a ride as a passenger. OdinZ and C.A.R. 1 1 Quote

KatoKid Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I'm in. Any suggestions on what to bring with me and specific prep other than the obvious? C.A.R. 1 Quote

Howdy Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Great, can't wait to check your car out, absolutely love the build. Just read the speal re non flammable clothing, helmet, fire ext, seat belt etc. Bring a tire gauge, compressor if you have one (I have one you can use), plenty of fuel (I use about 80L usually), food drink, gopro, laptop, jack, tools?? I bring the kitchen sink because if I don't bring it I'll need it for sure. Quote
KatoKid Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 I'm going to drive to and from (hopefully) so no trailer or room to bring much other than bare essentials. Planning on taking it easy and feeling my way into it so assuming nothing breaks.......I should be good Howdy and OdinZ 2 Quote

Gordo Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 I can feel a group photo coming on. Even if your not entered come down to Sandown and see if you can score a ride as a passenger. Or get your car in the group photos. OdinZ, Howdy and KatoKid 3 Quote

C.A.R. Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Cracking day out, today! We were greeted with a clear, cool morning with the cloud burning off around 10am. Gordo, Dave (Kato), Howdy, Chris O and myself enjoyed a brief social before drivers briefing at 8:45am, and we hit the track at just after 9am. I'd invited my best mate Alex to duel enter with me, and it was his return to Sandown for nearly 20years(!), so he was out first - having a great dice with a VF2 GTS Dunnydoor, and a C55 AMG Black addition - reporting back that it was VERY slippery out on the track. It's was out a couple of groups later - fortunately the track was warming up, and after I pirouetted into turn 1 on cold tires (puckering moment!), I got suck back into it. I got down to a 1.27.7, but unfortunately, this was the only session of the day I would get... Alex then went out for his 3rd run with his Dad as passenger, but after a few laps I noticed him slowing... On returning to the pits, 'No Clutch' was reiterated to me - bugger! Up on the jacks, clutch cylinder was bled to no avail - it was all working as it should. A call to 'The Guru' and the discussion revealed that the clutch had probably shat the bed. Day Over Howdy also had a bit of an issue, but I hope to see him back out again soon. Gordo blew a heater hose (easy fix)and Dave nearly popped a radiator hose off, but this was also easily fixed. Chris O ran trouble free! Sinisha even turned up(!) but was unable to compete on this day. Tampered Motorsport ran a great casual event, and so I reckon I'll attend another of their events again in due course. Thanks to Ned for the photos! Ponyo240z and MikeZ 2 Quote
