Up for auction is  my much loved series one 240z chassis No.00212 yes thats right build number 212. Australian compliance date is12/1970  so I would assume this vehicle was built either late 1969 or early 1970. It is now painted in a Honda metallic green with the original cream vinyl roof, it started out in life as the pale green datsun colour with the vinyl roof. This a matching series one No's vehicle, E31 head, choke and throttle control on centre console, speedo starts at 20mph, will be supplied with original steering wheel, gear shift knob and am stereo, vents on the rear hatch.

$18,000 buy it now

Unfortunately it's still green, (which I could just live with), & it still has a vinyl roof, (which I couldn't.)

I'm actually going up to have a look at that black zed tomorrow afternoon. Will be interesting to have a squizz at it. Spoke to the owner earlier. Doesn't have any suspension of any sort. Just a body. Lucky i have spares :)

he did, he ended up melting a piston while the 25 was in the zed, so he rebuilt it and put the engine in an r31 and likes that setup. so now the zeds up for sale.

Interesting thing about that car is its CAMS logbooked (as a sports sedan, I think it was), and has an CAMS approved cage in it (or so he says).  Don't really want a racecar though....  just a longterm project...

Just went and had a look at the black zed. The front has been hacked up and theres a fair bit of rust in the front aswell. It needs most things done all over again.

Hacked up how, to fit the fibreglass guards or the RB engine, or some other reason?  Is the rust in the chassis rails?

It was mainly hacked up for the intercooler piping i guess, but there was alot of bits cut out, im not sure why. Rust was mainly in bottom of rad support. Also the top of the radiator support has been cut out and they have welded a bar across, again im not sure why. The front needs a fair bit of work. I should've taken some pictures :(

Sounds like its had some weight reduction, and the bar across the top of the radiator support would be to stiffen it up.  So ideally if you were to fix it up it'd need a donor front section from a buggered 2+2 or something (back to the firewall, or just around the radiator support?), I guess.  Saves me going for a drive at least, unless it comes up a lot cheaper.

To do it properly, yes.I'd say back to the shocker towers. It wasnt a very fun drive to his house. sure the twisties a fun, but not at night when it was pourrrring down with rain and i couldnt see for 30odd k's. Be interesting to see what it sells for.

I don't think it will sell.... He lied to me about that car too, I very specifically asked if the car had been hacked up: "Has the shell been modified in any way (eg. rollcage points, cut off engine mounts etc)?" and this was his reply "body is unmodified except for the fuel tank in the rear.

It has a cams approved cage and is logbooked as a sports sedan."
