Administrators gav240z Posted April 5, 2018 Administrators Posted April 5, 2018 Hi Folks, I just bought a job lot of SU carbs (240z style) that I plan to send to Ztherapy and have rebuilt. I just wanted to gauge interest from forum members, I suspect there is enough cores to make 4 maybe 5 complete sets. You do not need to provide a set of cores (unless you want to) so this is a good option for those who want a set of 240z SU's (260z owners perhaps?). Should have manifold, but balance tube is US style. But we can have it converted to AU spec (grind off unnecessary emissions brackets etc..) I don't have a price yet, but at a guess maybe around $1,200 a set (no air boxes). Note this is just a guide price and will be subject to change. I will need to speak with Z-Therapy once the carbs arrive and they can determine what is and is not there. Lots of people rave about these carbs once received. I will be opting for SM needles (suit L28 size bore) but if you have an L24 we can get needles to suit your engine displacement. Sample image below..(of Z-Therapy rebuilt set) Please note: Fuel rail and lower heat shields, airbox may not be available. Images below are the job lot I bought... George 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 8, 2018 Author Administrators Posted April 8, 2018 3 month + wait at Ztherapy due to backlog of work. Looks like I might have 4 complete sets only. Quote
Gyzmo Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Have you tried MIDEL in Lakemba, NSW? http://www.sumidel.com/ Quote
RAP260 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 (edited) I can't speak for Midels rebuild service. But regarding anyone looking to rebuild / replace their su carbs.... After weighing up the cost of rebuilding ( via Z therapy) I decided to buy the HS6 conversion that Midel sell. Best decision I've ever made. Just my 2c Cheers, Rob Edited May 7, 2018 by RAP260 Quote

andyk_79 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 So what are you planning to do with the spare sets now Gav - sell as is ? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 8, 2018 Author Administrators Posted May 8, 2018 So what are you planning to do with the spare sets now Gav - sell as is ? Turns out, the ones I bought as a job lot. Only really 3 complete sets, the rest was lots of odds and ends. Not sure what I'll do with all the spare bits yet. But plan to have 3 sets rebuilt and sent back. Will likely keep 1 set for myself and sell the other 2. Quote

I'm missing the centre rod from the linkage on a late pair of 240z Hitachis if you have any and decide to sell - just in case you want to start a "dibs" sheet on parts twoforty z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 29, 2018 Author Administrators Posted July 29, 2018 These are not done, waiting on final invoice and will ship them back. May cost more than indicated above, with new GST charges and shipping costs + $AUD vs $USD movements. Quote
andyk_79 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Not sure who has registered interest already, but put me down as a maybe - I think one of my carbs needs a rebuild gav240z 1 Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted August 20, 2018 Author Administrators Posted August 20, 2018 $1,500 for the pair. When you factor in $USD -> $AUD and shipping costs + cost of cores and customs duties etc.. + 3 month wait. I've basically just recouped my spend. So likely won't do this again. Easier ways to make profit that's for sure. $1,500 sounds like a lot but I can tell you from experience rebuilding my Mikuni / Solex it's a bargain price and not having to wait 3 months is a huge bonus too! You could also sell your original SUs for a few hundred also. Quote
