I'm running Ramflo filters. I personally like the look of them.

I didn't mind the 4 barrel performance, it was more about seeing it every time I opened the bonnet....lol.

From what I've seen, that price seems reasonable for restoring that many parts.

I don't think the process is expensive, but making sure you don't lose any of the pieces and putting it back together..

restoring old cars with the right parts and making it looks great is an expensive business ask gav240z.

Hahaha the bill is piling on very quickly.

In good news, my car starts up and does idle.

Need to fine tune the su carbs.

Issue right now is the ramflo airfilters I got dont clear the carbs. The big breather outlet hits the choke lever.

Yea, in my experience it's all the ancillary items, new hoses ect, that add significantly to the cost.

What Ramflo filters are you running?. I assume you're talking about the plastic elbow, on the filter, for the breather that's hitting the choke lever?

Using mine as a reference, each filter has a hole on the lower right hand side. It's a tight fit but I will be able to connect to either filter. The HS6's must have different dimensions?

With the breather filters, I just capped them off for now.

So many mixed answers on what spark plugs to run on the L28.

The manual i downloaded says bp6es but I think that is for L26.

What plug should I be running with standard ignition system on a L28?

Hi

I would start with the BP6ES (or BPR6ES if you have radios etc) and see how they look after a few runs.

State of tune could necessitate a different heat range butbthe only way to be sure is start on standard plug and see how you go.

Unless someone has exactly the same spec of L28 and can speak from experience.

Cheers

I have put in a new set of BP6ES.

Since I don't have a mechanical fuel pump, I am using a 1-4psi FPR. and my gauge is showing a steady 3.8psi at high revs too. I  believe this is okay?

I have tried to get the mixture right, but at quick WOT, carbs back fire regardless.

I may have to check the valve clearances and compression before doing more tuning.

Question is, if it has aftermarket cams or regrinded and I have no idea what it is, do the valve clearances still be the same as what is in the manual?
