Administrators gav240z Posted December 30, 2015 Administrators Posted December 30, 2015 Hi Everyone, I've had this for nearly 10 years now and not done anything with it, it is an LD28 crankshaft I bought from Stewart Wilkins motorsport around 2005 I think? It has the V07 casting in it and would need to be inspected professionally to make sure it's true and get it machined etc.. These are incredibly rare now, and fetch good money in the US and Japan, therefore I'd only consider selling it at the right money. I had intended to use it with L14 rods and build a 3.1ltr motor but I'm going to retain an E31 head and may even go L24 block to keep the 'original' feel of my 240z. I don't have any photos handy right now but happy to take some if requested. Prefer pickup from Melbourne or could post but weight will make it expensive I'd imagine. If not sold it will go into storage and I'll forget about it for another 10 years. . If interested I have a set of 12 (L14 rods) which I would also consider selling to complement your build. So enough to make 2 stroker motors. As so often happens once I start looking for something I often find more than I need but grab it because I know it's rare and hard to acquire. Just looking at my records here. Set of 4 L14 rods went for 34,800 yen on Yahoo! Auctions in June this year. Set of 6 L14 rods went for 52,000 yen on Yahoo! Gav i paid around $100 in postage for mine I think just to help give you an idea. Was wrapped up really well and sealed in a PVC tube. Quote

Then you have to ship them from NZ which can be expensive depending on your freight option (air vs sea etc..). However in recent years these have become much thinner on the ground, so finding them is hard. Here is the last LD28 crank I saw on Yahoo! Auctions. Since this has been sitting around I figure I'd sell it to fund that, but given how hard they are getting to find now I'm only really willing to let it go if I get a good price for it. It may make it more appealing for potential buyers, I got my spare one done recently and it was only $150 for the full test and report. I'm picking up another L28 at the end of the month (F54/N42 combo) that I was looking at rebuilding and selling but it has me thinking I might send it down with my other F54 block to get sonic tested and if one of them is good I may just end up building a stroker to sell. It has a slight bend in it, if I recall (3.5 thou) which is normal for a crank of this age and can be corrected relatively easily. I think the journals will need polishing etc.. but it will totally depend on what the new owner wants to do with it. Still waiting on cost of repair for the slight bend in it, so haven't decided if I will do it or sell as is. In light of the report I'm open to sensible offers on it. Quote

Recommended to be ground 10thou undersize due to journal wear. Mains: 2.1631 to 2.1636 inch STD. Recommended to be ground 10thou undersize due to journal wear. 0.0035 thou bend Bend would be removed when the crank journals are ground. No cracks found.
