Ultimately I hesitated as I didn't know how much the repairs that car needs would have cost - no such thing as a cheap Porsche. Over the past few days I've regretted that decision and looking back I should have taken a punt. The car now has an offer and likely be picked up on weekend. So the question is should I attempt to visit the car again and see if I can still buy it or do the right thing and move on and keep looking. I remember reading in a post that a car isn't sold till its driven away, so I am also partly wondering what others have done in similar situations? Quote

Is it : potential buyer - "I'll give you $5K" seller - "OK" Then move on. or : potential buyer - "I'll give you $5K" seller - "I'll think about it" Then make a counter offer. Basically, if an agreement has been made between buyer and seller, then consider it sold. Having said that, if I were the seller, I would ask for a deposit and not take it off the market until either the deposit is paid, or buyer and seller both agree no deposit is needed. Quote

Purchasing price of a Porsche is the cheapest part of the total cost of ownership. Quote

Last conversation with him was over sms, so his words were "i accepted an offer, purchaser intends to pick up later this week" Potentially i could call him and ask if he has paid a deposit. It was the first car i looked at properly. Plan was wait it out and see what happens on the weekend, as the seller knows i'm interested so he will let me know if it falls through. very true, you would want to have a PPI (Pre purchase inspection) from a specialist Porsche place. Well that is the main problem, I've only got 9k to play with which does limit the 944's are great even in non-turbo form. Gav I did see your mates car in the other thread, looked very nice as well. I guess when you are looking at that end of the spectrum the cars are going to be in better overall condition and solid as you mentioned. Quote

That's more than 20% of your purchase price, so pay extra and buy the best maintained car you can find. Gav you want to pay a little bit more and get a Turbo S, 1989-1990 they got more fruits and better collectability. Quote

240Z_au Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 944's are a great platform and reasonably easy to maintain, if you're handy. Buy the best one you can. Watch for rust in usual spots (yes, they do rust, as do fully galvanised 911's)... Keep looking. Quote
