oldmates260z Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 From Gav's post about tyre age and he has set down the challenge: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15635.0.html https://www.google.com.au/search?q=tyre+date&safe=off&client=ms-android-google&espv=1&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sboxchip=Images&sa=X&ei=EADnVJeUDYL_8QXJ-4LAAw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=360&bih=511&dpr=3 Should give you an idea. See if you can beat 1987 Well I checked my oldest Zed tyre is 1986...so I am in the lead...then I checked the spare in my Sports 1981....so the bar has been raised. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 21, 2015 Administrators Posted February 21, 2015 Haha, there is a good chance HS30 000150 has tyres older than 86, I'll have to go check. Quote
dat2kman Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Meh, on one of my Dato Roadsters are Goodrich textile radials, no cracks, still hold air, the reciept for them, in the file of documents for the car, talls me they were fitted in 1979 They're a very square section shaped tread. Quote
WogsRus Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I win, my z has an original 1976 badly cracked and no use spare in the boot but its beaten by the 120Y which has is original spare tire dated 1973.... Ok where my prize. Quote
oldmates260z Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 As Gav was the initiator is should be his rules but I am thinking the rule should be it has to be the oldest Zed tyre. Cannot win unless it's a 1969 and the prize is knowing you won. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 21, 2015 Administrators Posted February 21, 2015 No rules just oldest tyre, and no prizes I'm afraid. I went to check my Gold 240z, but can't find the date stamps on it. Hmmm wonder how old it is.... Quote

Mr Camouflage Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 1959 Pirelli from one of the Silvias. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 If the 1940 Chev is in the running I will have to look at the 23 Olds in the shed them ( two owner) still in original condition inc rats nest Quote
oldmates260z Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 So the really old looking crossply in the boot of my 1940 Chev is out of the running No way, Gav's rules, every tyres in Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I must be reading mine wrong. Apparently the DOT (US Department Of Transport) standard didn't exist until 1967, so it stands to reason that there cannot be any DOT marked tyres older than 1967. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 19, 2015 Moderators Posted June 19, 2015 My spare has timber spokes. Quote
PeterAllen Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 My spare has timber spokes. Luxury... I used to dream of timber spokes. We used to make our centres out of rolled up newspaper covered in cow dung and dried by a log fire... Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 20, 2015 Moderators Posted June 20, 2015 So the really old looking crossply in the boot of my 1940 Chev is out of the running On a closer look, the Chev spare ain't that old. Just a crappy 30 year old sunderland retread Quote
scott Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 unsure how old but it was a spare. One is Goodyear and the other is Toyo Quote
