I was tempted, but no manifold and they are only 40mm. Plus probably need a rebuild, makes the reco 45mm on Weber Performance with manifold look like a better deal.

I spoke to the guy last night, very nice guy (that's important  ::))

They have been sitting around for a while and he took them to Steven Wilkins. Steve said the pitting would be easy to fix, not a real issue would were good value at $700.

I think you could talk him into sell the manifold too.

I would have bought them but I slipped up yesterday and bought another car instead....but that's another story......

Do you think 45's are required?

I'm running 40's on my L28 with 32mm chokes.

I started with 36 chokes but had a big flat spot through 3-4K rpm. Changing to the 32's increased mid range torque by almost 40 ftlb with only a small loss of top end.

For me, mid range is paramount as it's mostly used as a road car with a bit of track work here and there.

What doing that does, is increase the velocity of the airflow, through the smaller diam chokes, and this really helps to atomise the fuel into the air/fuel flow.

The "stumble" is a result of lack f air velocity  due to cam overlap and duration, due to the bigger slower chokes.

Look at your port diameter at head face, what 35mm, tapering down to valve bowl, the intake manifold, tapers from 40 down to 35, the 40 mm diam Webers are perfectly alright!

You've got six x 40mm holes, necking at 32.

Now equate that to a single butterfly throttle body on a fuel injection car, at stock, 48mm, but opened up to 53mm diam, or, two x 37.5 mm Hitachi SU carbs, that we run on the Group S Production Sports cars. Using a 2,6 or a 2.8 litre stock stroke bottom end. These are on par in performance to any triple carbied car, with same capacity engines!!!
