53-681 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Hi guys, I was lubing up my linkages and I think I spilt a little.. I was using one of those multi-use small bottle oils (generall used to lube door hinges). I fired her up and took her for a spin. My linkages are no longer sticky wooo! But there is now an awful lot of white smoke rising from the engine bay and exhaust... Did I do something terribly wrong?? Is my Z going to blow up!?!?!?? Quote
Scoota G Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Please, you'll be fine. Just so you know a lot of guys carry fire extinguishers in their zeds. Quote
luvemfast Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Clearly you didn't follow the tutorial on how to lube your linkages................... I'd guess you have some oil on your exhaust. Maybe have a look under the bonnet? Quote
53-681 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 I think I do have some oil on the exhaust... What should I do??? It's not a considerable amount... Should I just smoke it up on the drive to work tomorrow morning?? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted May 13, 2014 Moderators Posted May 13, 2014 Just so you know a lot of guys carry fire extinguishers in their zeds. A fire extinguisher is VERY cheap insurance, has saved me once Quote
Retro Z Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Its just the spilt oil that will burn off after a while. Or just use some hot water and rinse it off.. Quote
53-681 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Is this for sale yet? As soon as I purchase yours yes. Quote

Very true, so long as mistakes aren't repeated As long as the white smoke is not coming out of the exhaust pipe . LOL. Regards: Alan I think it did come out of the exhaust for a little but then disappeared the following day. So far so good! Quote
