I've got some seats in Sydney that Gav is organising to be sent over to Melbourne for me but I've searched high and low and can't find a cardboard box big enough for the seats, all the box companies/storage places seem to pretty much have the same size boxes, any tips?

if you cant find boxes big enough just wrap it in bubble wrap then with paper should be fine for the distance it needs to travel. but then again finding a fridge box you should be able to fit both in ;)

Hi mate, I'll see what I can find - will see if I can get a used box from somewhere like Harvey Norman etc..if not we can look at giving it a massive layer of bubble wrap or similar.

I'll also check if there is any old boxes here at work, sometimes we get deliveries where large boxes are used.

I just got a wooden pallet and stacked the seats (with some bubble wrap in between and tied it down hard with rope. Put a garbage bag over it all and taped it all around and E-go & smartsend sent it no problems on 2 seperate occasions. For only $20-30 to Qld and SA from Melbourne.

place cardboard around the sensitive areas (bolsters and top of the seat etc) and then wrap the rest in bubble wrap and throw a garbage bag over the top at the end

I might be able to help out, we use boxes, both with and without pine pallets attached in all kinds of sizes.

Just need to check what is around but it will take a few days.

Gav, I will give you a call tomorrow to discuss exactly what I mean.

Cheers

Ok sounds like a plan mate. I saw some boxes at work today that might fit a seat each depending on their orientation but I'll need to measure them as it would be a very tight fit..

You may be able to save some space by separating the back from the base ?

No they are a fixed bucket design and there are not rails on them. I can't give away anything more without taking a picture and posting it and I I think it will be better if it's a surprise when Mark installs them ;).

Looks like we'll go with bubble wrap and cardboard wrapped around them, won't look pretty but it should do the job!

$20-$30, thats cheap. when I looked at e-go it was over $120, with basic seat dimension entered.

Try smartsend and use your ebay username for a discount. I try both companies when i book and prices vary. Play around with weights and try pack it to the smallest dimensions possible. Could also be where you live and where its coming from i guess. I live within 10 mins of most depots. I buy and sell often and have never paid more than $100 to send things like seats, bonnets, engines, wheels and tyres etc. Try type in the dimensions as a pallet and im sure the price will decrease.

Problem is I won't be able to get a pallet into Google lol.. I just dropped the seats at my work and picked up a roll of bubble wrap and will cut up some cardboard boxes for additional outside padding. I should be able to stack the seats on top of each other and I'm guessing it weighs around 12-15kg at most.

Some cardboard sheet, couple rolls heavy duty Glad Wrap.

I've sent a few that way, never been an issue.

This is the best way to do it.... 8)

The seats are wrapped in bubble wrap a few times, then a box and a half was wrapped around that. But you're correct almost 2 roles of tape was used as I was afraid it will all fall apart otherwise.

Hopefully Mark will receive them as they left.
