vorn70 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I have been busy getting nothing done. I fitted my fuel pumps and swirl pot. I have stared to fit my air con unit from Road Star Japan. ( my wife said this was a must have item)The "ready to fit" unit has been a little challenging. To get the under glove box unit to sit up high and back, I have had to move the fan unit on the car. This was a pain but I'm now happy with the fit. My AZC steering Knuckles came in if they work as good as they look I will be happy. Quote
vorn70 Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Progress on the Datto has slowed to a walk but at least I'm still going forward. I have sorted out the fuel lines and the high pressure fuel filter. I just need to mount up the thermo fans to the rad and I can get Jeff around to help hook up the electrics. Quote
vorn70 Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Well progress has been slow but steady. Jeff has been helping me with the wiring, well he does the wiring and I help. so apart from checking out Micks progress with his transplant I managed to get the rear bumper on with help from my wife, it must be love because she was in the shed helping me on a cold Saturday night. It only took 4 goes to get it right. Not much to show but it felt good to get the back of the car finished off. Quote
Cozza Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Looking fantastic Mate, and as they say, 'slow and steady wins the race'. Keep up the good work. Mick Quote

vorn70 Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Jeff came around and we spent a cold night in the shed wiring up the Air Con and the Haltech, it looks like a bit of a bird nest now but we made some good progress. Quote
vorn70 Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Jeff has been around and done a bit more wiring and it is all starting to come together now. I have got the rocker cover on now with my throttle cable mount that took me ages to get right which was why I swapped to the later rocker cover because when I made the bracket I fitted it up to this rocker cover and it didn't fit the other cover as well. So with a bit of a clean up and paint here it is. I have now fitted up the headlights and sugar scoops so it's really starting to look like a S30 now. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 27, 2014 Administrators Posted August 27, 2014 Very cool, I like the black valve cover. Even though it's the later cover it suits the engine bay and car colour. You're almost there and I'm jelly. Quote
vorn70 Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 Thanks guys. I'm almost there. I got a call today and my seats have arrived, fingers crossed I can get them to fit. Quote
vorn70 Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 Well it's a runner after sorting out a relay which wasn't allowing power to the HP fuel pump. First I cranked her over with the fuse out for the fuel pumps until I could see oil up top. Then after sorting out the relay she fired up. It was fairly loud coming straight out of the headers. I was very happy to hear it fire up and thanks to Jeff for all the wiring for the Haltech. I have also been busy getting the seats fitted. I just need to get it on the trailer so it can go and have the exhaust fitted so I can give it a run without the neighbours getting annoyed. But it was a very happy night hearing it run for the first time. Quote
Roberto Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Must feel like a kid in the candy store right now. What are your plans for the exhaust? Quote
George Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Don't believe you Vaughn, we need to see a video... Quote

Yes I believe you, but a vid would still be nice Cheers PB I knew this was coming. I have got vid of the start up I just need to workout how to put it on Youtube. I will try and work something out. I do have pictures of the seats, doest that count? Must feel like a kid in the candy store right now. What are your plans for the exhaust? I'm just going with a 2&1/4 SS with magna flow nothing real special I'm trying very hard to stick to my budget. not much left to do now, tidy up the wiring get the exhaust on and then some carpet. vorn70 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 It has been some time since I have updated my build thread. I have been busy with not much progress. I have now got the exhaust fitted and I have driven the car (not very far just up my 200m driveway ). It has taken me a while to sort out my small problem with the brakes. I finally worked out(with Jeff's help) the end of the brake push rod was the short "bullet" type so I swapped it out for the longer "witches hat" type now I have a good brake pedal. With all the big jobs out of the way now it is just a matter of finding time to sort out the details. Quote
Roberto Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Great job. Look forward to seeing her in the flesh one day. Quote
George Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Don't believe you Vaughn, we need to see a video... Maybe I wasn't clear enough Vaughn... Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted October 16, 2014 Moderators Posted October 16, 2014 Looking fantastic, very close now Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 16, 2014 Administrators Posted October 16, 2014 Happy for you, looks great! Are you going to be putting the badges back on? That will really complete the look in my opinion. If you are still in contact with the previous owner you should send her some photos of the "yukky brown colour" you've painted it. Quote
