  1. Congrats on the purchase Plus 2 more cars, you are going to be busy. Looking forward to learning what plans you have. Cheers PB
  2. Thanks Tai, Yes they can delete bids, but I have 200+ feedback with no negatives and my bid was still visible when I last checked. So not sure what happened but looks like they cancelled my bid and a few others for some reason. Ah well, life goes on.
  3. Off topic question. I was the leading bidder on an evilbay item last night with a few hours to go. Wake up this morning to see the item ended, at the expected time, but the winning bid is lower than mine. The item is not in my bidding history or showing on the item - Looks like my bids were cancelled ? The seller has not responded to my questions this morning. Guessing just hard luck and get over it Has anyone had an experience like this ?
  4. Being R31 Pintara 2.0 it should be Eng: CA20E Box: 4N71B
  5. Hi Dingo Is this the one ? http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3086.msg88037.html#msg88037 Cheers PB
  6. Do you know something, or just a well thought out guess
  7. Hi Jezza You should probably put the question the rego authorities over West. They will want to know in addition to rim and tyre size, the impact on the wheel track of the car. FWIW - The national guidelines (VSB14) do not allow for a rim any greater than 30% wider than the originals. Cheers PB
  8. have you tested the sender unit. While the tank is out, take the opportunity to clean the sender unit then test it with a multi meter. In all likelyhood all the rust and crap will be preventing it from completing the circut
  9. Ebay auctions can indeed be interesting I suppose it is better for a bidder to retract their bid as opposed to "win" an item then not complete the sale - that just wastes everybodies time
  10. Yep, the filter looks cactus. but at least it is doing its job and protecting your pump and carbies from all the crap. If you get bored chop the top off the dirty filter with a hacksaw and have a look. The good news is once the tank is properly cleaned out and treated it will alst for years without giving you any dramas. what are you using to treat the tank ? Cheers PB
  11. Hi, I had a blow out on a tandem a few years back, scary but not a major drama. After this I did some research and discovered that a lot of LT tyres are rated to around 700 or 800kgs (and non LT's are much less) so if you only have one axle the tyres could be very easily overloaded The calculation of a vehicle's tow rating is a complex calculation that includes many things other than just power and strength, radiator cooling capacity is one of them. As an example the 2012 Lexus IS250 had braked towing capacity of 1500kgs but the more powerful IS350 was not approved for towing.
  12. My work has an office across the road from that Coffee shop. I can vouch for the quality of the coffee
  13. Hi Sue Some photo's and sizes would help as would an indication of price. Good luck with the sale. Cheers PB
  14. Gidday Here are my thoughts I would - Replace all the rubber lines and clamps. - Use compressed air to blow out the hard lines, then flush them. - New filter - Put it all back together - Throw 10lts in her and go for a drive - Drain the tank - Replace the filter again - Refill - Happy days. After that you may want to check the fuel bowls for crap. Then after a few drives check the filter again. Look forward to hearing how it works out. Cheers PB
  15. Welcome aboard. I would suggest reading through a few of the build threads to see what rust areas are common and how just bad it can be. Just remember they rust from the inside out, by the time you can see a problem it is most likely well advanced. The good news - is that mechanically these are relatively simple cars and have very robust drivelines. +1 on doing a good search before asking. Good luck with the search. Cheers PB
  16. Tandem trailers handle a whole letter than single axle ones. Also the axle loading on a tandem is way less so your risk of blow outs and bearing failures is significantly reduced. I can't recall having seen anything heavier than Clubman on a single axle car trailer. A couple of things to think about. What is the all up rolling mass of the complete rig, the GCM going to be? Will you also have passengers and gear in the car ? Will you be travelling long distances at open road speeds ? How well will light weight trailer endure the hard work ? The liberty has serious tow rating and has the safety of AWD to assist in keeping it all under control. Having said all that, I always err on the side of caution and safety plus have the added advantage of easy access to serious tow vehicles. Just my thoughts.
  17. Thanks Gav, will let you know what response I get. Comments guys & gals ?
  18. Have you a copy, would love to read it. It is really interesting reading period articles about these cars.
  19. Was thinking about doing exactly that, and possibly with a couple so the girls could "Go Shopping" while the boys go to the BBQ. Still plenty of time to plan / scheme for the weekend.
  20. Good Morning All I was digging through some the accumulated "Stuff" in the office over the weekend and unearthed a circa 1983 Road & Track (USA) Datsun Z publication. This publication includes a whole range of road & comparison tests from Jan 1970 through to May 1983. Full details of the articles are in the attachment, but here is a list of the first six * Datsun 240Z : The Newest GT - Jan 1970 * Datsun 240Z Road Test - April 1970 * Styling Analysis Datsun 240Z - April 1970 * The $3500 GT Comparison Test - July 1970 * Datsun 240Z Owner Survey - June 1972 * Datsun 240Z Automatic Road Test - Aug 1971 (Attached <512kb) OK, Yes they are US spec but still make for interesting reading Not sure if you would have seen them already (probably have) but let me know if any of the articles interest you and I will scan and send on. Most will be greater than 512kb so will need to email Cheers PB 42491_fdaffd7de3a61caf5a998efe762f2ce0e5dc70b4.pdf 42492_cdacb0d81b07b91343d114b7f5387caf40928cf6.pdf
  21. Hmmm, that is the weekend of the wife's birthday. Me needs to think
  22. In short - Almost definately. You will need to drop the tank, get all the crap out, then treat with something like POR. Cjheers PB
  23. Agree, same for steering racks or steering boxes. The penalty for a failure can be extreme
  24. Welcome Shaun, Great story and a really nice gesture. Looking forward to following your story. I have been thinking about doing something similar for my father who has always wanted a classic car but has always put what he wanted last. +1 on hope to see you at thpe next Sydney drive. Cheers PB
