Andrew's Yellow 240Z, Sydney Australia
GongZ replied to 240Z_au's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Just a small detail to add - the trophies say "Combined Z Clubs of NSW..." This referred to the combination of the Hunter Valley Z Car Club (established in 1986) and the Z Car Club of Sydney (established in late 1989). The two clubs amalgamated in 1991 - presumably after the Concours was held. (some of this information is from - http://www.zcarclub.com.au/) -
It is rather expensive locklock - I guess you will have to be satisfied with just your 2 Z cars. The ad says that the car has 10 inch wide rear rims with "Custom made aluminium body fenders with flare screws ( original body untouched )" - that does not sound possible.

Nice find locklock - this should be interesting to follow.

Andrew's Yellow 240Z, Sydney Australia

Hi again Andrew, I just found a copy of the Sydney Z Car Club's NewZletter of July 1991 - the 'Special Concours Issue'. The owner of your car at the time was Bruce Ellis. I have attached scans of pages 4 and 5 of the NewZletter. Joe Grupe won 1st place in '240Z Modified' ahead of his son Herman Grupe. Herman also won the "Best of Show' award. Joe was the founder and then president of the club. Joe and his son ran a car repair workshop in Belmore NSW called Mastercraft Automotive, specialising in Z cars. Unfortunately both Joe and Herman have since passed away. On page 5 you will see photos of some of the cars at the Darling Harbour Concours. Your car is the one at the bottom of the left side of the page and also the second from the bottom of the right side. My car (ZZ-1973) is above yours on the left side of the page. -

Better late than never? These links won't help much to find them - but they do discuss what was originally supplied, what they look like and how they are located. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11562-240z-series-1-tool-box-questions/ and http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/18257-what-was-originally-in-the-1970-240z-toolbins/?do=findComment&comment=148779 - if you go to the actual page, you can enlarge the photos

Very nice car and that yellow is a personal favourite of mine. Can you tell us what its compliance date is please? I was a committee member of the Sydney Z car club in the early 90's. I have a 2nd place trophy from 'Original 240Z' category of the 1991? Darling Harbour Concours somewhere too. I would be interested in the name of the owner back then if you happen to know who it was. I am fairly sure that this is actually "Protecta Strip" which was sold in parts shops and most popular in the 1980's. -
And sneaking in at number 982 is - http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13549-cuongs-hs30-00982/

Am I correct in assuming that sending a PM means that the user gets a notification on the email address they registered with when they joined AusZcar? I sent a message to the OP of this topic because he had not logged on here since the new owner made himself known, but no reply ; http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/12233-trying-to-find-my-old-240z/

I found this air box today - I have not seen it before. http://www.boiperformance.com.au/cold-air-box-intake- (about 3/4 of the way down the page) It has been specifically made for S30Z's - with a recess for the shock tower - see pics: They also show a dyno test result for it, but I can't really understand it. Price is $570 - which appears to include pre-drilled holes to mount DCOE's. Has anybody here bought one or seen one in the flesh?

Good point, I missed seeing that - I wonder if it has had the indicators 'shaved' then? I have never seen an unmodified LHD 240Z without the fender mounted indicators before.

Hi M3240z and welcome to the forum - nice car! I notice that the 240Z's next to your car in each photo (i.e. the midnight blue and white 240Z's) don't have indicators in the front guards. I believe that HS30-H has said that they were a requirement in the UK. Do you know if these cars are ex-Aussies too? (they were not fitted to any Australian delivered 240Z's)
