We can make your pipes the same Gordo , but its easier to start with a new set , the new pipe has a shorter primary pipe buy 150mm and fatter second pipe that is shorter as well , when we did Jake's we made 3 sets of pipes and tryed new lengths and size and these pipes are what we cam out with .
-
Yer there the new race stroker SPEC pipe, we got sw to make them to our 3.4 SPEC. let's the big motors rpm

I have found on the race motors the EWP is not as good as the stock part , but on your motor i dont think it will be a problem , if we were after 330+ i would as you to change it
-
yep he had it on the old motor and also has the twin idler lol owell we are only trying for 310hp , I'm going for a 1308 cam only 298 deg but has 590lift , I'm trying to make as much torque as i can under 5000 , as it will spend all its time on the road , if it was a track car it would have a 654a cam and it would make more over 6000 , and i would change the water pump and do more water mods
-
That cam is a 654a , some call it a high lift 76 , and the cam card from wade is not right , its 314deg and 550Lift 260@50 the cam card is not even close lol its more like a 78cam with 550LIFT

The dyno don't tell fibs, i wont have them on any motor i have built .

I'm fully up for injection , love it and gives great results , but I'm really into the carbs for a classic car feel and look .its so easy to just fit a new LS or Rb and have them run smooth , but that's not what people fall in love with, driving a classic with the sound and smell and feel is just so cool I'm thinking if you really want a smooth car and great economy and good power best buy a new car , L motors were never built for clean burning and smooth running , no matter how hard you tune , most want a cam that feels and sounds strong , never good for economy , i will let you drive a good injected 320hp car and a 310hp carbed car and we will go thou all the costs and then make a decision , i love both but the cost of the injection is hard for some
-
The 5% that you feel is in the drive from idle to 3000 rpm , the EFI starts better and idles better if its done right , and drives better around town if you have a real cam , but it takes some time to get the tune spot on , its never cheep .With a good set of carbs it will be 1/4 the cost if you do it right from the start , i think you should drive both and make a decision , I'm shore i could get two cars with the same spec engines one with EFI and one with 45 Weber's so you can try them and then spend your cash
-
ITB,s are very cool and great when setup , but a well setup set off carbs can be dam hard to beat , 44 solex carbs on the road are so good , and the sound is hard to beat as well .EFI is great but need to be tuned buy someone who gives a shiver , or you might as well stayed with stock carbs
-
There will be Heep's off pics this week , should have the new pipes and i will be finishing the inlet manifold , will be a cracker road race engine , can not wate to get it on the dyno

Hi Owen More pics off the bottom end, its all together now, looking good , i removed all the old paint off the sump and parts that were painted blue and removed the paint from all the bolts to get a better finish , next will be setting up the head with the new springs and cam , And yes sonic testing is to see if its safe to bore , as this block was 89.5 it was realy close to getting a new block , but after sonic testing it was found to be a very thick casting
-
Good to see you got it worked out mate , it sould idle at 1100 and be strong at 4 and then start pulling hard at 4500 all the way till 7500
-
Sorry not Greg ira . Must be a lot off gregs into zeds .
-
Hi Owen Les has finished porting your head this was a pic i snapped while he was at lunch , he was half way thou the inlet port and starting on the chamber , looks real nice port size is 39mm so it should rpm well to 7500
-
Yes its a big claim to have the best , to have the best it will need to have a build quality not seen hear before , but we have made a decision to go all out with this build , the pasion we all have for this project has made it happen , greg wants the best and biggest, and must have more hp than all his race engines he has had . Greg has had a zed shop in the US for 25 years so he knows a thing or two about the L motor So we want to see a 380hp NA L single cam that looks like a show motor ,
-
It will be tuned hear on 95 fuel and will be run on better race fuel over there
-
Just to be shore after i tune it hear on our dyno , and have a proper setup and hp and torque i will be flying over with the engine and i will put it on a dyno over there in LA then i will have a drive at Laguna Seca , will be great to end all the HP over there to hear crap that goes on ,
-
some pics off a motor i have started today , will be off to the US , for a 240z racer ALL he wants is the best L NA in the world , but it has to have carbs and a distributor , spec 90mm x 90mm bore and stroke custom light billet crank fcw custom Honda Carrillo rods super A beam 400gr forged custom piston 10.9 comp custom one off head with new valve position for inlet and exhaust 48mm valve inlet and 35ex with water mods internal and external billet , 50mm solex carbs on jap bigport man will be many custom parts and heaps off love day one find a block that will go 90 +mm in the bore , never easy with a F54 , after sonic testing 5 blocks i found 1 , and it was filthy lol not for to long , it went in to the bath and we bored it to 88mm and re sonic tested it to be shore it was still right for the job , then i started the task off cleaning all the casting dags from it inside and out , It will be painted inside like all my race motors , and will be grout filled to the top off the welsh plugs , i will post pics as i go hope you guys like the build PS hope you dig the 50mm solex carbs man there cool
-
Guys we were talking about the internal water mods not the external water mods that have been around since the 70s

I have no problem with your answer Alan , works engine men would not have taken pics , and i know they would not have drilled a stock head lol , i have been building a LZ and can see how good there work was . Did they ever run a N42 head or a P90 , in Japan on a works car .
-
That's great Alan have you got any pics , i have two mates that were works engine men , and they said they did not do this mod , but i shore it must have been done . there work was top stuff if any one were to do it the works Nissan team would have , i collect heads for a hobby and have some rebello heads and there full race spec and they not drilled , and i have some from japan as well none have this mod , Les has been around Nissan racing engines since 1977 and has not seen it , but then again we don't have 680 hp L motors , its funny how you guy got that hp from the L the works nissan rb26 did not have that when it raced hear , and our V8 race cars still dont have that at the engine , also funny how my zed is the fastest L on the time cards on hybrid z and it did it with 350kw i am shore nissan did do this mod , but id love to see a pic alan can you please try find some
