  1. :-\ Having problems fitting chrome gutter rails to my 260z project. Read "Zedbacks restoration project" description of how 260z 2+2 has a sharper sweep over door section & that they are 60mm longer. Is this correct .

  8. Going to replace engine fan with 16" Thermal fan from a Nissan patrol, by cutting the shroud from around the Patrol unit I can fit it over the existing 260 shroud neatly. Intending to install control unit that I can regulate to suitable temp. Can anyone please advise most suitable Temp setting that will suit 280z motor +60 Thou o/s. (Radiator is from a 280z.) Also have a auto trnsmsn fld oil cooler from same Patrol which I intend to fit in front of car under existing cooler unit for A/C. Should I fit another thermal fan in front of these or will the rear unit suffice. If one is required what setting should this be at. Was thinking that if I alternated them so they both don't run at same time wont be a huge Amp drain. Thoughts please fella's. Regards: Alan. :-\
  9. Thanks D3coy for your response to my questions. As for your response "Lurch". I posted a question in your tutorial segment on 26th Aug with no response forthcoming. However you choose to respond now. "WHY?" I'm well aware that the 280Z has disc brakes or didn't you note that i mentioned this. As for the 280Z master cylinder bit if you read my opening header, i stated that this was already fitted to my 260Z . (DURR!!) . Lurch as far as the mechanics of cars with you are concerned i am very impressed ,but as for the rest a bit of "tact" wouldn't hurt. Mate i'm trying to gain info regards my 260Z, so just info puleez.   10. Have fitted a 280Z brake master cylinder to my 260Z. I intend to fit 280Z rear (S1) calipers as per tutorial. Using existing 260 front calipers. What should i do with regards to the following. (1) Do i remove the valve unit from the rear section in the 280 m/c as per tutorial. (2) Will i need to change the 260 power brake booster to a 280 type. (3) Are there different adapter brkts for the (S1) & (S2) calipers. Regards: Alan.
  11. With regard to removal of valve from master cylinder. I have fitted a 280Z m/cylinder to my 260Z, will this apply in this case. Also with regard to caliper brackets, are there two types to suit S1 & S2. Finally do I need to change brake booster to a 280Z unit. "Great item" . Alan

  13. G'day Simon, have a 3core radiator (reco job). It's never been used. Same bolt up pattern as 260Z/280Z. Only problem is that I'm up in the Blue Mountains .N.S.W.   14. After a power antenna "rear mounting type" to suit 260Z . Also "brace/strut" that connects between the front towers in engine bay. Either new or good second hand units, as long as in good condition.

  18. Not the connections on the module unit top itself (B-C), the spade connection at the front of the module unit , with the other situated on the vacuum housing . These are meant to protect harness wiring should a short occur in either Module or Dizzy ,also to act as an additional earthing situation for dizzy.

  20. The two connection points on sides of distributor are for earth connections to motor.
  21. ZMan ,I checked out Dizzy base with wrecker who assures me it is a Electronic 280z base. Hope this doesn't come across as "gibberish" to the LEARNED scribes who obviously have little better to do. (Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.) Can we give it a rest & move on fellas. Just want to get my car going so prefer constructive advice, not criticism.

  23. Originally had my 280z motor running ok with 260Z Dizzy & 260z Spacer fitted with #1 lead in #1 pstn in dstrbtr cap. Decided that I would fit Elctrnc Unit instead. Cnctd all wires crctly, marked up position for firing order 1,5,3,6 etc & cnctd E12-80 unit (180Deg vrtn) with #1 lead in the #4 pstn in cap as per 260Z markings. Motor fired up but not 100pcnt. Fitted a 280Z dizzy spacer & instld #1 lead in #1 cap pstn, no joy . Reset dizzy once again with #1 lead in the 4th cap spot & mnged to get car to fire up but not healthy (Back firing thru carbies). Might ad that I used the 260z dizzy clamp plate with the 280Z dizzy. Obviously there is a timing problem but how do I fix it. Got me stuffed #*@!?.Hope someone out there can help.
