  1. Haha, nice pickup on my spelling. Have corrected. You might be right and its worth giving it a go.
  2. Sorry to dig up an old topic. David did you end up using Devcon or another type of sealant? I am restoring a spare old tappet cover and have removed the steel plate to get to the sludge underneath.
  3. A couple of possibilities to check, 1. Spark plug leads, particularly coil to distributor, but if the car is missing it may be down on one spark plug lead. Not uncommon that the issue will only show up under load. You mentioned one spark plug was fouled, this may be because that spark plug lead is shot. 2. Fuel pump, might deliver enough fuel to idle and rev with no load but not under load. If mechanical the diaphragm may be shot. When you have issues like this always change one thing at a time, check to see if the issue is rectified then move onto the next. Don't make 6 changes then test. For one you wont know what the problem was, and secondly you may end up chasing your tail.
  4. Very nice indeed, congratulations on the purchase. Enjoy.
  5. Cheers PB, will give them a try.
  6. Hi All, I have tried Nissan, Bursons, Repco, Ryco and Fram, none stock the standard 240Z (60mm high) air filter any more. Any suggestions where to purchase in Australia? I see MSA stock them and well priced K&N replacements, but freight will be more expensive than the filters themselves. Cheers, Billy.
  7. Try Covercraft-pacific, I have one of their indoor custom fit car covers. The fit and quality is outstanding.
  8. Very nice indeed, congratulations. She will be a lovely belated Christmas present.
  9. Will be great to have another zed in Perth. We have a 240Z/260Z register in WA. We have a least 3-4 club events per year and a fairly solid competition calender as well , with usually 6-10 zeds competing regularly. wazregister.com is the website to keep up to speed on whats happening in the west zed car related. The guys on this site, viczcar, contributing from all around the country, even overseas as well, have an absolute wealth of knowledge and very keen to help new comers. Really look forward to seeing you and your car out and about in Perth when it arrives. Keep us updated on the restoration. Billy.
  10. Gave me a heart attack Gav, I am currently travelling for work, thought the wife saw it as an opportunity to create some capital
  11. Hi Hamish, I had the same issue when installing Koni yellows into my front struts, the rears were fine. It turns out there is different wall thickness's on struts of different years on the 240Z's, the OD is the same. I ended up having to get another pair of front struts to accommodate the Konis. I guess you could always machine the strut out slightly in a lathe.

  14. Not a car for sale, but another international magazine article. This time in Classic and Sports Car, October edition. 240, 260, and 280zx featured over 5 or 6 pages. It seems nearly ever few months these days there is a new high profile article out about our zed cars. I also notice more and more ads are appearing for 240's in top shelf classic car mags like C&SC and Octane.
  15. I have a very late (August) '73 240Z. It has the blinkers under the bumper bar and the bumper has over riders.

    Gear Box Seal

Hello all, I currently have the gearbox out of the car, a 71B. The gearbox has been fine with no issues apart from the rear seal has been leaking allowing transmission oil to be spun around from the drive shaft. Firstly where is the best place to buy one locally, I see Motorsport Auto has them in the US but suspect these will be only for 4 speed gearboxes? And secondly, what is involved in replacing the rear seal, is it easily done, or will the gearbox need to be pulled apart? As the gearbox is otherwise fine not looking to have a rebuild done ATM. Billy.
  19. Hi Jinxed, Confirming Z Day will be Sunday 18th October this year. More details to follow. Billy.
  20. Good condition, correct 5 speed gear knob and 72-73 centre console were almost imposible to find, took me near on 3 years of searching, bidding and begging. Wouldnt like to. go through it again. I can only imagine what it must be like searching parts for rare cars, not zed cars that 1000's were produced.
  21. Perfect opertunity for someone to grab what looks to be a fantastic original car. So very rare to see not only a very original car but one in such well cared for condition. If this is the one you are selling I can only imagine how good your '73 car must be. By the way kudos on your collection, particular the Elan and CSL.
  22. My first car was an 808 coupe.
  23. Perfect winters day here today in Perth, clear blue sky, no wind and cool. Took the Zed for a fantastic drive through the Avon Valley this afternoon for a couple of hours. Great drivers road virtually no cars, it doesn't get any better. With so much fantastic discussion on here about finding the perfect car, modifying and restoring them, it prompted me to ask the question; how many of us get to really enjoy our Zed cars for the simple purity of just driving them for pleasure?
  24. "$60K for a rough looking 240z" I think the seller has added an extra zero there by mistake. "In the late 80's you could get a nice 240z for $5000" My '73 240Z was purchased for about $11,000 in 1989. It was in pretty much show condition at the time and one owner.
