Hi Stephen, Another new Perth zed nut, great to see. I noticed a, what looks to be, very good one on www.carpoint.com.au. Red 240z. Apparently restored about 10 years ago. What I liked about it was the quality and originality of the interior and engine bay. $30k I think. Billy

Yes mine were plug welded along the length of the floors then plug and stitch welded at the front main chassis rail and the rear sub frame. The inside of the replacement rail and corresponding under floor section were painted with KBS. Apart from the obvious extra length of the floor chassis rails they look OEM.

I agree with d3c0y, if the noise is only occurring through poor gear changing technique suspect clutch slip/chatter or a bit of compression lock up. Learn to heel and toe properly. Might save your car and life one day if you hit a bit of a damp patch under compression lock up.

Hi Lightmaster and Mossy, Thanks for the info and offer of the fibreglass ones, but really want OEM, other wise would stay with the current modified 260 set up. Billy.
-
Anyone got one tucked away that they are willing to part with?
-
Hi Gav, Yes I actually noticed that one yesterday. It seems to be in reasonable condition and complete. I will most certainly keep an eye on it as a backup. Of course new and or in Australia would be preferred.

Hi All, Ok so who out there has a 72-73 center console stored away, either new or very good condition, that they would be interested in selling? My 73 240z before I owned it, 20 odd years ago, had a modified 260z console fitted for some reason. It has never fitted properly, too wide, and as I am in the middle of finaly making some alterations to the car its time for it to go. Open to all offers but really looking for one in excelent condition that I dont need to restore. Billy.

Hi All, I purchased a set of under floor rails from Nathan a few months ago, (extended length option), I have finally got them installed. The panel beater was very impressed with the quality and fit indeed. He specialises in restoration work, makes his own panels etc. My under floor section was quite bad, I think from improper hoist placement over the years, and the passenger side rail was very rusty. Luckily though the floors were virtually rust free. Any way a couple of before and after shots. Thank you Nathan for the excellent rails. Cheers, Billy.

Hi Simon, Welcome. Good to here from another Perth boy. There is a 240Z on Gumtree at the moment that may suit. Also the local WA 240/260 Z register has a number of cars competing regularly in sprints, hill climbs and Tarmac events. The guys are really helpful, one of them may know of something suitable for what you are looking for. Pm me your phone number and I will see if I can point you in the right direction. Cheers, Billy

Hi All, I am looking at getting some wheels from JDMwheelimports.com.au, based in Brisbane. Konig Rewinds. It looks to be only an on-line shop, no address details. Has anybody dealt with these guys before? Always a little nervous buying on-line. Call me old fashioned. I must say to date the email responses to my questions have been excellent though. Cheers, Billy.

WA240Z replied to JDM_240z's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Hi Jamie, another WA 240Z great to see. Yes Pat's old car, always was a good one. There is a 240Z/260Z club in Perth that meet regularly, great bunch of guys and very helpful, a number of them compete in club Motorsport as well. There is a membership day in Mid February that is held at Belmont, either 17th or 24th. Come along and meet the guys. I will advise of date when confirmed at the committee meeting this month. Cheers Billy -
Hi Bill, Welcome to the forum. You will find the members on here are extemely helpful and supportive. If you get a few minutes introduce yourself to everyone in the intro section. Try The Hot Rod Factory, in Welshpool. They specialise in chassis work, not so much panel work. I have not used them as yet, but will be in the near future. Very nice guy who runs the shop and seems to know his stuff. Also Rob and Martin Falconer, again I have not used, but they spend alot of time with z cars, and are very friendly and helpful. They will be able to point you in the right direction. 0430322294. If you are new to the z scene in Perth these guys will be a great contact for you. Finally, their is a WA 240z-260z register club, if you are not familiar with it PM me and I can give you details of up coming events. Good luck. Cheers, Billy

21 years now, and like a good loyal car, she has followed me from Sydney, to QLD and now in Perth for the past 8 years. This one was my first, and at this stage the only one. Just as much fun to drive now as back then. I couldn't be without it, though I really dont drive it as often as I'd like, in the past 21 years I have only covered 24k miles.

With the rocker cover off, check that the spray bar has no blockages. This may be causing the scored lobes. Make sure the whole cam train is receiving good oil coverage and none of the cam lobes or followers are running dry. Good luck, Billy.

Broken bonnet cable - anyone know how to get bonnet open?
WA240Z replied to silverz's topic in General Maintenance
I feel for you Peter. One other requirement is have long arms. It has happened to me before as well, I'm 6.4, and only just reached the release. From memory I think the left hand side of the engine was the easier side to attack from. One other idea may be if you have bonnent vents (260Z), you may be able to cut the vent out and replace with a new one. If you are missing your ramps maybe just start and run down to a local garage, flip the mechanic $20 to borrow his hoist for 5 minutes. Most likely a lot easier to get to on a hoist rather than ramps as I have done before. Good luck. Billy. -
Hi all, Looking to purchase some Konig wheels, the rewinds, 15 x 7. What is peoples thoughts or experience with these wheels? They are to be used for road and occasional sprint/super sprint use with R spec tyres. Are they good quality, strong and safe enough for the occasional sprints? Would you reconmend another brand? Thanks in advance. Billy.
