Lissen 'ere, Sunshine! I only eva used that Fiat 124 AC (with a CC 1800 donk) up at Colo for the Atocross, rallysprint, and motorkhanas! And that orange 1600 did start off as a L18, but sort of somehow grew balls, to a schnick just over 2 litre, only. Yes those were ripping fun days, long live the Group 7 format, ie 7 different car clubs, banding together to run events, hold interclub championships, both dirt and tar, with full fields of over 100 competitors at every event. In mid 1980's i only had, in one year, four weekends of NO motorsport of any kind! All grass roots club level. I encourage anyone thinking at all about this, or other events, just go do it, as, you are a long time dead!

Semi Slicks, 14" Bridgestone RE55's
dat2kman replied to dat2kman's topic in Parts and Tools for Sale
Mucho betterer! All the Porsche guys are onto these. Being half worn, i would suggest mount them reverse on rims, ie the inside is to go on outside. They are also wider and lower in size compared to A048's, but are marked as 195/60's ! This is for Historic elegibility in Gp N and S You still get guys on the A048's as they are cheaper. I have just fitted a fresh set so these are ready to go. BTW i am off to Eden via coast next week, you could meet me somewhere ala last time, if keen? Or at Eastern ck in June. -
Suit hillclimb or tarmac use, ex circuit, half worn, would do with a decent burnout to clean up. Size marked is 195/60x14, but once fitted on some 7" rims they are more like 205/55x14 New price $320 each, sell the set of four at $400 Can deliver to Sydney end June, or Melb end July

Eh??? I'm a bit different, that's all! I have a few Datsun Sports 2000's, one is the quickest original spec car, as built in 1968, in the known Datsun world Datsun 2000 man !! 'Sides couldnt think of anything unique about my Z

Seems like a fair bit of interest/watchers on this, just a suggestion, if there are a few on this forum showing interest in this, and in the interests of not starting a bidding battle, it may be an idea to declare who is showing interest, and who was " first" Dont flame me, but lets not sqabble! BTW i am not interested, i already have a couple stockpiled. Knock yourselves out!

Just a thought, on route suggestion, Up the Hume, past Albury, turn left up Olympic hwy, through Wagga, to West Wyalong, up Newell, towards Orange, Bathurst etc. Easier than up Hume t Sydneyish then west over Blue Mountains!!! Must be a cheap Hilux!

There is a shop in Brisbane that can renew old mounts, with material of varying durometer hardness. Stock new rubbers would be around 50 durometer, he can go up to 90 durometer. It is a two part liquid mix that sets around the engine, box, or diff mount, and it gets trimmed back to original shape. Expect around $90 per item done. I have can arrange you just need to send your buggered ones, and they are rebuilt new. I have had engine mounts done for very old cars that no longer exist in parts books, no problems. Only other option is new soft standard from Nissan, or harder ones from Nismo, if available, i could enquire, but they get a bit peeved at constant enquireies and no follow up purchase ensues. If you want the hard ones you just say yes and pay the price asked, thats it. Or try Stew Wilkins, maybe his website, or contact direct

A newish forum member on here, was advertising his wares, on a commercial badis for car transport. Freestyler is his forum name. Your other option is hire a trailer, go with someone else to share driving duties, youd be able to do Kilmore Bathurst return in a day(24 hours) easily.

Set of six flat top Nissan pistons suit stock bore L28 or L26, comes with 130mm rods, bolts, gudgeons. Rings and bearings included, so you can see how minimal wear/use these have had. They are in quite good cond, are ex Keith Honour rally car, which ran a L28 F54/P90 combo at stock bore. They are nothing special, but for someone just wanting to up their compression, the'd be pretty good. $100 the lot, Can deliver to Easter Ck in Sydney at end June, or to Melbourne at early August. Have a set of 1 mm overbore flat tops with gudgeons, suit the 133 rods, ( shorter pin heights), but these may have been accounted for by a forum member up here. Located Brisbane, can post if needed

Use npt pipe thread and matching hex plug, with grease, keep tapping and test depth of plug, in order to obtain clearance, use loctite so it does not loosen with harmonic vibration etc. The other thing that can snap off due to age with harmonic vibration ( no you cant feel it) is the baffle plate holding the gauze pack in, going up into the block vent. FWIW, unscrew it, make a new one with a full width mount plate instead of the two tangs, and loctite in. Speaking from experience here!

Aha! If you can wait till early August, a few of the Z guys from Brisb, ate coming down for the PI 6 hour relay, and following weekend, on way home, i'll be doing Winton historics. Costyacartonbeersfortransportinghead!

Pretty spot on Mike! With Aus historics, to clarify, Sb class is up to December 30 1969, car must have been sold by a dealer. Sc class is from Jan1st 1970 to end 1976, again dealer sold. Little anomalies have arisen, whete a single MG dealer, in UK, APPARENTLY fitted a single sidraft DCOE Weber, to a NEW MGB, and sold at least one. When asked to show proof, today, or paperwork as required by the Historic Elegibility commission, to establish fact, it has all been water under bridge, done approx1990, but 'cos they all have the Weber now, it must be gospel truth. I fail to see how a pukke Brit dealer, would think a inferior Itie part, would be better than the greatest carbie in the world, the SU! Next we have Porsche, Alan Hamilton in Richmond Vic dealer, sold them new with the option of wider rims, some folk took up that option, at time of order and delivery, now, what did have 6" rims fitted at factory, can run 7" front and 8" rear rims, with a low profile tyre. DeTomado Pantera, one variant rhe GTS, had 8"/10" rims, the std one had just 8", CAMS will not permit the factory produced GTS4, that is a hotrod. Morgan Plus 8's apparently, again, had an options parts list, and Mr Morgan, in early 1990's was able to write a letter stating rhat some cars were sold new, with all the options fitted. Go back to mid to late 60's Morgan advertising, not one mention by Mr Morgan of these option parts being available to "hot up" the car. It was sold as a staid gentlemens tourer. Our Datsuns have a huge list of option parts, you could walk into a dealer, slap down $4300 for a new 240z, then walk next door, and fill the boot with a gazzillion new good gear items, to make your NEW Z into a Circuit Warrior, or a Rally Weapon, but sadly, no, as the parts were not fitted to the car at time of purchase, anywhere in the world, and someone for fcuk's sake prove me wrong, we are not allowed one single thing. Oh, but, thete was one dealer, in south east Melbourne, who did sell one 240Z with 7" Jelly bean mag rims, the Sumitomo four pots, vented rotors, to a then young chap, i have been lent photos, original sales reciept, warranty book, and other paperwork, but the only item of proof, the green customer copy of the sales reciept is very very faded, and will need some sort of enhancing to show the option parts as fitted, with their part numbers. CAMS has been advised, but the response was, that i must show multiple sales of that model with that fitted, i then asked, "show me the documentation for MGB with Weber, and i will match whatever you required the MG racets to provide" Nil answer from CAMS This has been ongoing since 1994 Other Datsun at issue here is the Datsun Sports 2000, it is Sb, it is a giant killer, when a goid one turns up, ie the dark blue car of David Stone/Howard Fletcher, from 1990 tp 1993. It won plenty. The Group British mob dont like the Datsuns to win "their" races. I copped a tremendous spray from the pukke Austin Healey club of Victoria, when i took my Datsun 2000 down to Phillip Island, for the first time, in 2010, because their exalted superstar did not show 3 litre Healey domination, in the Victorian Tourist Trophy race, which is designated to commemorate sports car races of the 50 & 60's , which, not only was my Datsun the ONLY genuine raced car from 1968, the rest are replica fakes, but it won all four events. It is standard as permitted by rules and the regulations, for the class it is in, but many claim it is highly modded! When Fletcher took his car down, mid 90's it won too. They will do what they can to prevent the underdog from showing best value bang for buck. It seems, you want to really win, buy a $250,000 911 Porka. There is no prizemoney, but sometimes a bit of shiny plastic and wood or a tin cup on offer. Meh! My spray for now, someone else have a go!!!

Brisbane Air Cleaner Sales, will sell over counter, in Brendale area They do couple different sizes and lengths. Or try Unifilter, website, they are based in Sydney, will sell direct. Get the internal spring, as, at full noise the whole sock will suck into carb throat, oh, and you need trumpets to slip these over, use zip ties to secure. Lots of rally cars use them. If after 2nd hand, i got four red ones to suit your carbs.
-
Saw the ones at Zama storage facility, got a few pics, couple days later, at a workshop, saw two cylinder heads, took pics as well? They are for sale, but if you have to ask, you cant afford. It is a case of, you want it, you just pay. What's one worth? If i was very enthusiastic, and found an original, that had been raced, with all fia papers and proof, and was able to prove and show it had race history in year 1969 ( not from 1970 onwards, there is a reason for this), i'd be in the 100 to 150 k mark

If anyone grabs this, i could possibly collect and transport to Sydney then onto to Sth Coast NSW (Eden) Auction ends in 5 days, I am departing on 3 rd June from Brisb.

Entries are coming in, and, with just two crews vying fir the Classic Division, it should be fun. Robert Devenish in his mighty red rally Z is coming to play, and all things going well the Z will be a front runner. We are still on track to bring the Fury(ious) 120Y down, and with othets from ACT, NSW, and many from Vic, this years Bega Valley Rally should be a cracker. Zedophile, are you set to come along and give us a hand, not mch needed, just to get our service van from Eden, to Edrom rd, then to Genoa, then back to Edrom, then to Eden. We kick off early, 7.30 am! Aussie240z we will be heading to Lake Conjola on Thursday night, then onto Eden on Sat morn, if you can make it down thete come and say g'day to Rpb D and myself, but, if you say " can i give you a hand" we will rope you in for sure! Any others thinking about a trip to Eden to spectate, we will be using some of the best fast wide dirt shire roads in this area, and thete will be plenty of points to view. The after party at these events is also good viewing! -
Aha! Read between lines! If you carry a part or item that is to go to a shop, for "work" you sort of can! Qld dont need to use the logbook and account for the 90 days, also cars can be quite modified. Either way, it is a great setup to be able to use our cars on the open road, without the high cost of normal car rego. For cars that are very rarely used, and they must be fully roadworthy, there is the UVP scheme, which i use for a car in road competition., a few times a year. Many Tarmac rally, and Dirt rally cars run on UVP's, they get trailered to an event, ie Mt Buller Targa High Country, and the UVP is valid for period of event.
-
Zac, dont let the Southerners know, but up here in Qld it is a lot easier, and far less restrictive. Join up with a club, Z Club Qld dot org dot au, link on their site for joining, as well as info on the club rego scheme. Quite a few have joined, done the rego, but dont renew club m/ship the following year. At present, Qld Tpt are not following up if existing club rego scheme car owners are members or not, expect that to change. It is cheap, aporox $200 all up for Rego, you can elect to get a "S-1xxx" plate, or, purchase a PPQ plate white on black, but must start with a letter N, O or P, . The PPQ website has a tool to choose your combo of letters/numbers. Limitations are in place for car usage, ie club runs, meetings, other events, and vehicle testing, best trick is, you are allowed to take car or parts, to a workshop for work to be done. Most of the Yankee hotrodders etc will carry an old carby or dizzy in the boot, if pulled over, " Yes, orrificer, i am going to repair shop", " ok sir, on your way, oh nice car, etc". One thing, dont be a fcukwit when driving, we realky dont want the scheme to be pulled, most all on it are like us, sensible, and aware of our old cars, and look after them. I cant work out how the Rat Rods get away with it, but, they are engineered!

It's the better airflow shape of the P90 that makes it the shizz. But its the huge cc comb chamber that detracts. O5L has same shape and port positioning. Comb chamber is tight. It wasn't sold on Aussie cars, yes plenty went to Kiwi. Shipping stuff from Kiwi is feasible, compared to other countries. As P Mc says e88 is good, it has the chamber, but ports need the work to get close to p90 flows. Airflow bench testing shows differences, see headtimeline thread on this site But, to OP, what do ypu want to achieve? All out performance, or general good allrounder, former is expensive, latter is cheap. What do you want to spend? Straight bolt on, go for e88 leave it as is, cant find one , stick on a n42, nice daily drivers, but, you dont just want a daily!!!!! Be adventureous!

My new goal, to get as many posts from Simon, that say's, "of course you do!" Count- 3 , i think? Mwah ha ha mwah mwah mwah, as evilliy as i can be, not!
-
Well, there is also the O5L head, same port shape as the desired p90, but high quench comb chambers, low stock cc figure, plenty meat in ports to get shaping right, has injection notches, and plenty of scope to play with valves. Square exh outlets, no pre heat liners. It is rarer, but available. And yes, i have one avail! Also couple others, suit injection manifold use.

Hmm, i'm thinking Dusty's old car, yep, carbs! DOH moment, oh well! Efi jobbie? Is the ecu able to be datalogged? To show WOT, partial throttle %'s, fuel duty cycle?. Relative to a time span/seconds count? It may show up a WOT application, ie exit of Hungry, but fuel duty has not responded situation. What fuel pressure reg is it running,??, in my injected car i have a Malpasi, returns to external surge pot, dont like it, as it is hot on return, but at least pot stays full. Now aware you are injected, yes a surge pot with a 044 driver will ensure you dont get a momentary "starve", mine would, but only on big right hand corners, with low fuel level in tank ( splash and dash - low weight in bum)

Current issue in newsagents, has a godd multi page feature on Jon Siddens Tarmac Z, good write up. Some one here grab a copy, scan and post, well worth effort. Jon is a genuine down to earth guy, and for him to "open his doors" like this is very rare. rest of mag is full of whooshbang turbo fourby fourby stuff but!
