  1. Hey Jamo Thanks for the thumbs up on the tutorial, in the next few days I will probably have Part 2 up as we are working on Simon's car this weekend and there will be a lot of de-denting prepping and then application of the Polyester EP Primer. Will see what we can do about capturing some dent removal shots and words also. As far as lead loading, sorry buddy but its a lost art and a waste of time also, if you prep the panels properly and work out large dents so you don't end up using shovel loads of bog, plastic filler out performs lead every day of the week, granted on turret seams its great, but for general repairs i wouldn't even bother. Cheers John
  2. Amigo's OK, just wanted to give the crew members coming down a heads up as far as equipment you can bring that we will need apart from what Lurch will be bringing up for the rust repairs. I spoke to Simon and the plan is to basically repair and prep all the panels back from the front guards at this stage, in other words, the doors, sills, turret, quarter panels tail lamps panel etc, this way hopefully we will have the majority of critical fixed and operative panels repaired and prepped by Sunday afternoon. So if you have drills, or sanders bring them along for the ride as it will take a few hours to get the panels pre-paint prep'd after which I will be bringing up the spray gear and locking the panels up in Sikkens EP Polyester, we will probably do a vid of the application to add to the tutorial I started previously for all the interested parties who have been waiting for the update. Cheers John
  3. Alan I will have to build a high beam set into the front of the bar but I'm not sure what it will look like with a separate oval set like the ones I intend to dissect, so will just have to wait till i get my hands on a set and play around with positioning I guess.
  4. Just make sure you keep the women in your neck of the woods locked up, us glamorous Wog boys with our Southern European looks tend to have an overwhelming effect on the female population. LMAO
  5. Niz, First thanks for putting such a lot of effort into the post, I really appreciate that as I'm sure everyone else will, once again the sharing of knowledge on this site is a great thing. OK, to avail you of some of your concerns. First, these lights meet Australian ADR requirements and are actually designed for RHD vehicles. Second, if you look at the pic, the main body which I will be using contains only the low beam component, it's the ancillary reflector lamp that actually holds the high beam globe, this is the part I will be dissecting in order to attempt and build it into the HL bucket of the "Z", therefore I will have to mount an alternative High Beam system whether it be the dissected lamps or other into the front nose, at this stage I'm still undecided, watch this space. Therefore the very detailed points you raised don't actually effect their mounting or operation in this instance even if I do dissect the reflector high beam lamps from the main body as theadjusters wont be effected by doing so. As far as globes, they come with standard halogen bulbs, however upgrade bulb options are available at an additional cost when ordering, these include Super white halogen(4800K) or HID/Xenon (3000K-16000K), I will obviously be going with the latter if i do go ahead with this. Once again all great points I really appreciate but which I have already considered to some extent before hand, hope the explanation I posted makes sense and if I'm wrong in any details please don't hesitate to post a rebuttal. Cheers John
  6. Pete ! What happened to the plan to paint the block fluro pink?
  7. Hi Aaron, Appreciate the post, however a few problems come to mind immediately. The first being that the lamp from the R series actually has an irregular shape more kidney like which would greatly dictate just how far it could be manipulated to suit a rather round shape. The second issue even if the first was overcome is that the upper lens comes to a pinnacle point which you can just make out in the pic but is very prominent head on which wouldn't work with the rounded upper edge of the bucket. Appreciate the suggestion, but too complex in shape to use unfortunately. Cheers John
  8. Nice work Scoota, Was that a Maxwell House coffee can? Seen some funny stuff emerge from beneath paintwork in the way of repairs in my time but thats ones for the books LOL
  9. OK, Haven't updated this in a number of days for a number of reasons, bet you all thought it had died in the A*se ! Well reason "1" was because we didn't really get to have a long chat about it last Friday night, but did agree we would this coming weekend at Simon's Bash Bog and Jam weekend at his place. 2nd reason was because I was waiting for Nissan to get back to me, and they did this afternoon, from what I was able to relay to them on the phone about what we are planning, they feel this would be a great event they would like to discuss being part of, so much so I was advised that they would like to schedule a meeting with myself and other officials of the club/forum to discuss it and their participation in more detail in the coming week. Anyhow that's about all for now, will touch base with Lurch and see where we move to from here. Cheers John
  10. Dimitri, I'd love to do the same thing, but once again it comes down to forming a lens, and in this lays the problem as lenses must comply with Australian ADR requirements, once you go from a sealed beam to a more modern set up the cover as you put it is no longer that, it becomes a lense and therefore must comply with regulations. It's doable, but for the cost of a one off or even limited number it would probably be to cost restrictive. Cheers John
  11. Ja! ungefähr 80 % These are from a E Class W210 Benz so are smaller than the Copper's
  12. Thanks 6 Although I haven't measured these yet I would be pretty certain that they will follow the 7" standard, so fingers crossed they should be workable, also found a set in "BLECK" these are somehow a bit more sexy.
  13. Good luck ! If you can track John the owner down and get him to part with one of them, my hats off to you. He has been periodically listing some of the cars on Ebay, check the Ebay thread.
  14. Yeah Benny, Looked at them but like the style of these better, plus there are a lot of veriations on the basic shape as far as upgraded internals with halo's so makes for interesting options. Cheers John
  15. Thanks Buddy, The more I look at them the more I like them, and incorporating a mount into the buckets, nor doing a cesarean on the driving lamp wouldn't be that complex. Cheers John
  16. Hi crew Been thinking HL's and reading about some of the upgrades on the site, some which I love, others which I don't so much, then started to surf and came across these which look very modifyable....... "Think main body less the driving lamp tucked into a modded HL bucket so as to suit the curve of the unit" Anyhow, I'm after opinions, and remember these wouldn't be for a purist Zed so please think outside the circle. Cheers John
  17. Pics will help and then we can all brainstorm a solution
  18. Great work Pete. For someone that can get the best out of these motors, you also make them look simple but sweet from the outside also.
  19. Into the home straight now, matching and refining alignments, doesn't look like much but a SH*T load has been going on as far as bringing all these components together. Cheers John
  20. Dave You will be missed, however we expect to see you on the forum interacting and contributing especially to the run as it develops. Cheers John
  21. It's very simple, but your welds need to be up to it, the forces a seat actually undergoes under normal driving conditions is substantial, just take a look at some of the Zed seats that have suffered metal fatigue at the elbow between the upper and lower cushions. Alignment is your main concern, deviation in this area can cause the forward and aft adjustment of any seat unstable. I have posted a pic of the seats I mentioned in this thread recently, I fitted these to my previous Ford Probe which is now my parts car, I unpicked the original mount elbows which are not unlike a Zed's, and also the mount elbows on the seats, then ran 2 lengths of square 90X 15 from memory square tubes to which I welded the seat rails to. Bolted the original Probe elbows in place, and sat each seat on them, tacked them, unbolted the elbows took out the seats and then welded the new assy's. I was so happy with these seats as far as comfort that I'm considering reusing them in the Zed later after have them reupholstered with some additional padding in the lumber area. Cheers John
  22. Great stuff Kobes, Can you also have a word to your peers in WA and see if you can drum up some interest there also? Cheers John
  23. Think this topic should be left to stew until Friday when we can all discuss it in person and get back to the general forum populace.
  24. Hmmmmmmmm, I'm reading this all now as if I have a personal agenda. If I'm right, let me say that its far from it, I always believed this forum had far more potential than just being a net based community and that the camaraderie shown by the small numbers that meet up at times could experience something together far more substantial.
  25. Pete, Don't think the driving lights look that bad, very period as a matter of fact, Id just suggest setting them back deeper beneath the bar and in the grille recess', you may find that they look a hole lot better. Cheers John P.S. What gear were you stuck in?
