  1. I've just matched my chasis number which was above my brake booster with the compliance plate which came loose with the car. The numbers match but I want to know where to locate the plate inside the engine bay. Pics would be handy if you've got some. I can't 4 existing holes where it might have been and the engine bay hasn't had any filling done. cheers
  2. Nah I've got some sweet ones that arn't going in until I fix the interior. Thanks anyway.
  3. Jesus, that's up in super car territory with kw/tonne isn't it. Chasis strengthening kit anyone???
  4. Great news ;D Turns out the dizzy's on L series engines spin anti-clockwise instead of the usual clockwise which I am used to playing with....doh. Never even thought to check. So the L28 (with carbs and L24 points dizzy) is running like a champ once the plugs were firing in the right order Just have to hook up the drive shaft as hopefully it'll move under its own steam. Of course I will have to sit on a milk carton and control the throttle with a rope, but who hasn't?
  5. You've obviously read the latest HPI (or PI now??) mag. They have a great article on coil overs. I'm fairly new to them but do these units have a good range of adjusment for spring rate as well as ride height etc?
  6. It probably did slide down. It's like a plastic sleeve that threads onto the back of the speedo about half a turn.
  7. Thanks mate anything will help. If you get some pics send em to timnell@iprimus.com.au Thanks
  8. Can anyone help me out with these door handles (inside and outside) and boot and bonnet realease mech's? Pretty Please.
  9. I've got some front strut assemblies from a 280zx that look like they'll fit the earlier models. Pulled em out of the ones I had before they went to heaven. You should put bonnet pins on it and sell me the locking mechanism. Sure looks tuff sitting in your back yard.
  10. Do you have the locking mechanisms for the boot and bonnet??
  11. Where did you get them from?
  12. Maybe you're right, I've been noticing other things seem bigger since the 'big block' went in as well. And I've started walking funny, like there's a softball under each of my arm pits, and I kind of swing my chest from side to side. I also believe it could be to do with the fact that this is the first time I've had the bonnet off (to replace the engine) and been working on the engine from the front
  13. Did you ever end up making a flared gaurd template out of cardboard to see what sort of shape you need to cut and press?? Unless that was someone else. I've been thinking of whether to pursure making my own steel weld on's.
  14. Be sure to tell us when this 'service' is ready and how much discount AUSZ members will be getting.
  15. Viewed today and it looks good Peter.
  16. OK here's a bit of an update. I finally got the L24 running well. I think most of the drama was the vacuum advance was sticking in the dizzy so once that free'd up it revved well. So the L24 came out two days ago and I've since wedged on of my L28 engines in. I'm surprised at how much bigger they are. They seem to only just clear the bonnet. Anyway I've just thrown the old 2.4L points dizzy into the 2.8L to fire her up while I work out how to fit the 2.8 electronic dizzy (SilverZ where's the step by step?? ) I've picked up some extractors too. I originally got a set off the ebay seller but they seriously fouled on the block vent under no. 1 primary so I bought a set of MSA headers and sent the others back. The bloke I was talking too said he'd soon sort the issue out and he's sold quite a few with no dramas by the sounds of it.
  17. Looking at these as well mate. Be interested to see how you go. cheers
  18. So you're going the L series route aye?? I'll swap you a 2.4L for the RB
  19. ;D I think I saw one of these such woman on ebay the other day.
  20. how much for the other 72' cam kicking around.
  21. You should definently wreck what you don't need and sell me the worser of the two (best one for yourself) of the following parts: Dash loom Inside and outside door handle and mechanism etc Boot locking mechanism Bonnet locking mechanism Front grill Don't listen to the voices in your head saying keep both
  22. No link or you've sold them already???? I want to buy a set of these but have to wait a bit. How much on top of the cost price would postage be to 4815 QLD?
  23. Once most has drained out, fill er up (5L?) with dextron III trasnmission/power steering fluid. Trans fluid has detergents in it to break down that stuff and generally clean the insides while the engine is running but will still provide lubrication. After the engine has heated up to operating temp, stop, and let it cool down breifly and drain it out. It will be black as, and no longer red.
  24. do you have any more pics of the guard install?
