  1. Either arizonazcar gets them for a steal or they are not making more then $4. Ha.
  2. Cheers, thanks for the explanations guys.
  3. z32 gearbox here we come. If you break one of those, then I think we are all going to tell you to get an auto.
  4. I'd like to know why as well. I find they smooth down welds very well and hold together for quite a while. What do they do to thin panels that you don't like?
  5. Hey guys, Me and a bunch of my mates are heading out to willow bank again for another test and tune night. It is good fun getting your car down the track, although it feels a lot faster then it looks and it is addictive. At this stage it is tentatively organised for Wed 9th Dec. All the details about the event are listed here. http://willowbank.com.au/eventdetails.aspx?qstEventID=60 You will need safety gear like a helmet etc. Here is a video of last time I went (Going for a 13 second pass this time) Last time we had a few 10 second bikes, a datsun 620 sr20det work ute (with tools and all), and a few other cool rides. One thing you have to know though is that one of my good mates has an old VG valiant with completely stock 245ci straight six. His quickest to date was a 16.10, he really wants to get a 15 before he starts modifying the engine. If he does beat any of your Z cars, I will NEVER hear the end of it. "I thought that your jasmine car was a sports car brad?". So keep that in mind if you bring your car.
  6. I don't understand why people think they can improve on the Z tail lights (240 and 260). I personally love the original lights, suit the rear end really well. Each to his own though.

  9. That is Terry's Zed. BlueOvalZ on Hybridz http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=155817
  10. My opinion is that there are not enough Zs to make an event just a Z event. I mean, I spent 2-3 hours at Warwick for the car show this year. If it was only Zs, I would have made the huge drive just for 1 hours worth of viewing. Yeah right! Some of my favourite looking cars at the nationals were actually 1600s/510s.
  11. Fair enough, although I am sure he will look the other way if you let him change his oil on the hoist every now and again. HA.
  12. Why does the council need to know? Just cut a section out of the floor for each of the two posts and put a large footing in.
  13. Love the shed mate, very jealous. Looks like you have plenty of room for a hoist.
  14. None in regards to the voltage regulator. You haven't changed anything.
  15. I sure am, if your alternator has a built in regulator, you don't want an external regulator as well, it will cause you issues. Here is a picture of an external regulator I pulled from my car (previous owner had converted to internally regulated, disconnected external, but left regulator in the car).
  16. Sure do, not sure if it works as I have a 280zx alternator in it. Let me know if you want it.
  17. You mention that it hasn't been driven in 10 years, which worries me a bit when trying to sell a car. All your rubber fuel lines, brake lines etc will be hard and could be cracked. Your greased moving parts will need inspection/re-greasing before putting k's back on it. I'd be a bit uneasy with suspension/brakes that have been redone and sat for 5 years. Also, how did you restrain yourself. You haven't driven it for 10 years, yet you rebuilt it 5 years ago? I would have gone nuts not getting to drive it.
  18. We would need to keep it closer to 3000cc then 3100cc, otherwise I can't legally turbocharge it. So at $3k for a crank, you would be looking at ~$4.5k for the kit?
  19. All the details are on Hybridz. There was a machining document in the Downloads section, if you can't find it, P.M me your email and I will send you a copy. Basically you take 720" from the bellhousing where the adapter sits and a little more from where the starter interferes.
  20. Welcome, you definitely have your work cut out if you want to make that engine bay shine. I know you said you want to keep it original for the shows, but a factory L28 efi engine bay is far from show quality. Even if you electroplate all the fuel rails, it still looks busy. Have a think about at least replacing the fuel rail, that tends to clean up the engine bay quite a bit.
  21. I bought a remanufactured one from repco. Wasn't real cheap though.
  22. Here is my current running total, mind you I haven't put the box in yet. - Transmission $600 (sorry, I thought I paid 500, but was wrong when I checked. Have seen these go for less then 500 though, just have to be patient). - Machining for adapter plate $200 (was going to do it on my mates bridgeport, but his mill was about 15mm too short to fit the bellhousing, so had to pay someone to do it). - Transmission adapter plate from 240hoke on hybridz $350usd, $381 when I bought it. - Also bought a shifter mount off him as I couldn't be bothered making my own (although it would be hard to make) $160 - Also bought a short shifter because my transmission didn't have a shifter at the time $84 off ebay (once again, seen them for cheaper). - While I had it apart I also replaced several seals etc lets say $75 So I am currently staring at ~$1500 and I haven't put it in yet. Will still have to get a driveshaft made, and I will get a mate to move the transmission mount (unless I use that as an excuse to buy a welder ). So, I think I should be able to do it for under $2000, and that is by paying for extras. I think you could probably do it in Aus for under $1500 if you waited for the right deals and had a nice mill.
  23. Make sense now. What I was trying to say is that with the spring at its lowest setting, it looks like there is only about 1-2 inches of travel. I was just expecting a sorter threaded section/strut and more travel at the low setting. Sure you know what your doing though.
  24. Lurch, Do you have any travel with that strut setup? It looks like there is only an inch or two between the top spring perch and the threaded collar. Also the strut seems to be coming through very high. Or are you just showing how low they can go?
  25. That is why I bought a z32 gearbox, only $500. But you are right, once I am done with it, machining, adaptor, speedo etc, etc, it will be much more then the VL Box. No need to explain yourself anymore.
