  1. Have you considered getting more education? Perhaps University, Tafe or even an apprenticeship/traineeship. It will be a pay cut now, but you have to think long term with education. In the long run it will pay off.
  2. It is every 2 years, and Waxhead is right, next one is being hosted by the sydney Z car club. http://www.zcarclubq.org.au/events/2009nationals/2009nationals.html
  3. How much rust is under a vinyl roof? Think it looks pretty good too, but would definitely have to get rid of the white. hopefully someone gets a bargain.
  4. Definitely clears it up. I always thought that carbon fibre was like the Polyester version your talking about and couldn't take much flex. Sounds like a good choice.
  5. What is the thought behind going carbon fibre? Is the carbon going to be painted or natural? If it is going to be painted, then wouldn't a urethane bumper be more forgiving on the driveways/bumps? If it is natural then cool and be careful not to scrape.
  6. I personally don't like Gnoses. Too pointy. I think with the lower lip you are making it look a lot better.
  7. He might need a daily driver while he builds his Z. HA
  8. The previous owner of my car had put a cheap set of falkens on the car. They were so hard that my corolla was faster then my Z in the rain, it was rather embarrassing. I wanted the best tire I could get for the wet and was recommended Bridgestone Potenzas. They are great, great in the wet and incredible in the dry. Probably not as good as a semi slick in the dry but I am sure they are much better then a semi slick in the wet. By the way, mine is just a weekend car as well.
  9. I am surprised that you didn't go this route with your oil pan. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150085
  10. Especially if you own a tire shop.
  11. I was wondering why you were going the RB26 route. It always seems like a strange one to me, people seem to think it is the be all and end all RB motor. Glad to see you came to your senses and are increasing to the RB30.
  12. HA! That would be an interesting event if someone ever needed to use the extinguisher.
  13. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=152491
  14. I am sure you won't need the help, but just incase. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=148599 I don't use the first 5/6 tilt sections, will probably end up welding up the tilt mechanism for those first few tilts so that it can go straight back to the right position.
  15. I'll have your Z then. Sorry but that is UGLY!
  16. Come on mate! I have seen your fabrication skill in this thread. Take some 40x40 shs and weld that together. Add some cross bracing to keep it all square then just drill through for bolts. Shouldn't need every hole. Then you don't damage a block and you have a jig when people say "Are you going into production with these?" Or "I need a larger sump for my RB26, can you build one" On another note, have you seen if all RBs have the same bolt locations for the sumps? RB30s can be had for real cheap (mate picked one up complete long block for 300). I am sure stuffed short blocks could be had for next to nothing.
  17. What about bolting it to a steel jig?
  18. Forgot to mention, by cleaning I meant with sandpaper, get the lugs to shine a nice coppery colour again.
  19. Well, I didn't actually want to show people this, because I think it is too nice a car to let other people see. However since I need a garage before I start buying more Zs, I guess I will have to let someone else buy it. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/datsun-240z-turbo-450hp-rb25-30-260kw-at-the-wheels_W0QQitemZ190331329930QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2c50a19d8a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  20. See, smoking even gives cars cancer. Looking good, does the soda blasting leave a layer on the car? It almost looks like it is primed in some of the photos.
  21. No, I mean the starter terminal. Where the battery cable and a few others attach to the starter.
  22. Most sunday arvo's will be fine for me as well.
  23. Cheers, One day I'll get back to making it work with the original dash plate though. Really do prefer the original font/tacho face.
  24. I thought they fit as well. Do you have pictures of how it sits? How is the chrome/condition of the bumper?
  25. Simillar thing a couple of times. Every time it was the starter terminals. Cleaned them and everything worked fine.
