  1. tig welding panels would be best.
  2. turn the current down on the arc welder, and you could do it. I'm still an apprentice at the moment.
  3. what welder are you using on it? pre weld primer is supposed to be applied as per normal primer, if its thin enough that it's clear there's no point applying it. You just need more current to penetrate through the primer, though not too much other wise you will start to get undercut and too much heat in the parent material, which will start heat cracking etc etc, another issue aswell is porosity in the weld from the primer. we normally use an arc welder to weld pre weld joints, though im not a qualified boilermaker yet...
  4. sounds like regulator to me, not alternator.
  5. Wow, is that your shed garvice? I dream of one like that every day. Here is a pic of my service centre and specialised hoist system.
  6. me me, me me!! dont forget the short arse down here!
  7. any date is ok for me.
  8. whats the stud pattern on the item? i'll buy it myself if its 5 by 114.3. Thanks.
  9. try trans direct for the courier work. They might do it. I had a set of 4 wheels sent from sydney to here for 38 smakos.
  10. If its only when the car is running, charging regulator possibly, or a short in the electrical system causing a large current flow causing heat in fuse box and flattening the battery.
  11. You may get signal interefernce from the power cable and audio cables being to close, realy would be better running them down either side of the footwells, if you cant do that run a signal choke on the audio cable before it enters the amp. Also, if you have grounded the amp to the head unit, you will creat a ground loop, which means lots of whine and hiss that you wont get rid off. Bot should be grounded seperately. Looks like a good job though.
  12. baked chips for dinner anyone?
  13. there ok, though.. you get what you pay for.. no clutch, no 6 speed gated shifter, no 900 degree lock to lock like a real car. If i was going to play mario cart or something, id use these.
  14. You might aswell pull out the playstation and gt1 if thats your driving style. A wheel is the way to go, specially the g25/7, 6 speed gated shifter with clutch.. why would you use the old analogue controls? I have a full c ockpit built, with handbrake, g25/7, the seat shakes and race harness, cant get any closer to the real thing.
  15. the g27 is 500. There is a new 320gig ps3 for 600. I just got my 250gig for 400. And 300 for the signature edition gt5 pack.
  16. The game comes out november 4th here in aus. Ive already paid for my signature edition copy of gt5. And ive already got a g25 and g27 wheel, so im set for paired time attack battles!! Bring on gt5!
  17. rb25 box with ppg internals. The rb26 box has the front shafts on it, can be made to run in rwd only, ie take out shafts, cut box, weld cover plates etc.. best option is the rb25 with ppg straight cut dogbox gearset, Less than all the other boxes quoted. Too make that sort of power out of the 30/26, you would need a massive turbo.. whats the car going to be used for? The skyline guys use the rb30 block to gain extra low end torque, and more air flow volume for a massive turbo.. 1500hp wouldnt be very street friendly, lag lag lag lag.. boost.. change gear.. lag.. lag.. lag.. lag.. boost.. change gear.. and so on.. Even at the power figure of 700hp, you would need to run a decent sized turbo to make that power, an extra half litre of chamber volume doesn't give you an instant jump of hp. The rb25 will bolt on, and with ppg straight cut dog box internals will handle over 1000hp, that's the path i would take.
  18. i cant find the cheerleader videos?
  19. Its the go kart track at archerfield airfield, next to the burnout pad. I go there most wednesday nights for drift practice. They just do drifting there.. and go karting on saturdays of course.
  20. oh man, i always miss out on the fun stuff.. need to get stuck back into the datsun. Not much coin to throw around now that i'm an apprentice.
  21. have a look at the skyline forums, in the japan section, it has the all to do's and what to do's, and what not to do's etc, from all the aussies living over there.
  22. we could do a cruise out to a dam or the like, and we all brind some form of food or drink like we did at gregs? Who's up for something like that?
