Would there be any benefit in going bigger on the carbs or would you just be over-fuelling the engine? Wondering if it is worth going to 50mm Mikuni's or 50 or 55 Webber's. Cheers.

Finished my RHF guard at last and in its final color. Color is Datsun #305 Light Blue Metallic. It looks beautiful. I think I am going to hang it up on the wall, so much better than a painting Now for LHF guard which had the same problems as this one. Enjoy.

What is the weight of a 240Z for the purposes of engine swaps? Looks like it will be close as to whether you are allowed a 3 liter turbo

Sydney electroplaters may not do very good chrome - they often send items down to Victoria as environmental requirements there are not as constrictive as here. You could try all metal bumpers in Ingleburn and ask if they will do these for you - they chrome bumper bars but may do other stuff if you ask. Cheers.

I reckon stick with the factory light blue, it is a great looking color and changes quite a bit with the light conditions. As has been said, if you do not totally redo it then it is easy to tell it is a respray. I may be slightly biased however - I have the light blue and am respraying it this color.

Yep not as bad as it could be. Roof looks ok and hasnt eaten into the sunroof hole too much. You may be better off using an orbital sander at a lower speed to take the paint off - this will ensure you dont warp it. Re the bonnet, the flap wheels wont get rid of pitted metal, you have a couple of options for this, either you can cut out rusty sections and weld new ones in, get it acid dipped, or ask a blaster to blast it carefully. With the hanging panels, you wont need to treat these so long as they are under cover as they will need blasting anyway. Try to concentrate on one section at a time, now you have got the bonnet in bare metal, try to finish this off as rust will start attacking it from day one. With the bolt in the fender, you can try screw extractors, these dont always work and sometimes just butcher what is left of the bolt, or you can drill it out and retap it. Good luck with it

Soda blasting will only remove paint I believe and not rust. If you want to remove rust, you will need to have it bead blasted (my preference). However there are advantages and disadvantages of each method of paint stripping/rust removal. The key disadvantage with bead blasting is it heats up large flat panels and can warp the metal - fortunately not a problem with the roof! The blasters need to go carefully on large flat areas and use a media that is not too harsh. I actually prefer to fix some rust before having it blasted, this way it all gets blasted again and painted. Epoxy primer is also better than standard etch primer as it can sit for years without rusting, with etch, you need to be painting within the next month or so. I agree with the comment on the roof given the rust has made its way inside a bit, if you can fix this, you should be able to do the rest. Are you able to put a pic up of the sunroof hole looking down from above? Best of luck and look forward to seeing your progress

Welcome, the shell is definately worth saving being a low numbers car, it all depends how much time and money you have. You may be best trying some of the most difficult sections first, if you can master those, you will be able to do the simpler stuff easily. Were you going to keep the sunroof or replace the roof? This might be worth trying first to see if it is salvageable or if the rust has gone too far. I suggest you also buy the 240Z shell that is on ebay at the moment for all the spare panels inc roof. Hi all, I am after the fitting off a 260Z inlet manifold for twin carbs as pictured below. Must be identical to one below as I am running A/C and auto transmission. Please let me know if you have one of these. Cheers.

Looks nice. To get oil pressure after installing engine do you just pull the plugs and crank the starter? Does the oil go everywhere with the rocker cover off? Also do you need to squirt oil/fuel in the cylinders through the plug holes if the engine is new/has not run for a while. My engine has sat for years and I am wondering what I need to do before firing it up. Cheers.

You can also get paint that is designed to look like chrome. It is expensive however, although it looks nice in sunlight. It is not perfect, but as close as you will get with fiberglass.

Pretty close to my chassis no. That just makes it all the more tempting! :-\
