PS Locky looks like the original color is the leaf green I was talking about, the overspray is emerald green which is a nicer color IMO. Good luck with sale, if it was in Sydney I would have bought it!

Shame you can't make it Jason, I can understand your frustration! Spectator fees have also gone up again, and entry fees continue to skyrocket - I guess they figure they will charge what the market will bear, and if that means excluding those who put in a lot of hard work and effort on their cars themselves but do not earn mega dollars then that is what they are going to do - I would love to race in Sc but it is just getting too expensive, and as you said, they won't let you run your group T car - guess the Porsches don't like getting cleaned by a Datsun! The net result of this is you now need a De Tomaso Pantera or some other mega dollar car if you want to win. At least I like the Pantera taking it to the Porsches, it seems more "of the people" with its mix of Italian design and Clevo block - and the engine is in the right place! Rant finished

Go the works type B , however think the works type B only looks good with works flares so if you are not going for the works flares then I think keep it looking factory, gives it a nice old school look

Hey mate, nice looking zed, I am restoring one in the same color combo as yours atm, blue with white interior. What year is yours out of interest, only difference is mine is an auto . Are you keeping the blue, I reckon it is one of the best zed colors. Cheers.

Hi Mark, did you get any paperwork/plate no's with it when you got it? There is a pretty good chance it may have been rego'd in one of the other eastern states, and vicroads may not have the data from the other agencies. May be worth calling RTA (now RMS) in NSW as well as QLD and SA versions of same, they may have chassis/plate numbers on their systems. Cheers.

Do Nissan do them? Might be worth a try, they are normally pretty good.

Hi Mark, I think All Z parts in Sydney do the floors and doglegs, from what I have heard, their replacement panels are closest to original. Rare spares may do some as well, haven't tried seen their stuff. On the hatch, maybe try a rear hatch from Alfa Motorsport Fiberglass, should save a bit of weight by going fiberglass, couple that with a lexan rear window and should save quite a bit of weight. Lexan is easy to cut with a fine-tooth jigsaw, made a rear screen up for another car this way, just get the same thickness as the glass and you can use the hatch rubber as well. Any hints on the new project? Cheers

Cheers Peter, will try to get lots of pics including the ones you are after. Think the same owner now has two of the McLaren M10Bs that Neil Allen drove, one to be driven by Alfie, and I think the other is under restoration to be driven as well, good to see them back out on the track where they should be, a car that sits in a museum is not really a car! They last brought out the Can-Am cars about 10 years ago, so this is really a treat for us in Aus as we don't get to see them that often. As much as I love the 250GTO, there is nothing like the brutality of a big block chev in an 800KG Can-Am car. Can't help but feel that racing will never be as good again, too many regulations stifling the cars. Some of the Can-Am cars are near/over 1hp/kilo, there is a race on you tube where they pull away from A McLaren F1 GTR under acceleration, and one of the McLarens in the states is putting out 1019HP, 250 more than a modern F1 car. F5000 is also one of my favorites, so will check out the M10Bs, would love to drive one of those things one day. Shame you can't make it, for me PI is as good if not better than Goodwood, and a look at this years entry list confirms that. Did you manage to clear out your garage, still keen to check out your zed and borrow some of your ideas on chassis reinforcement. Cheers

I think that zed looks awesome, except the rear wing! The body kit is very similar to an IMSA one, not everyones cup of tea though!

Hey mate, if you are getting one of those spoilers I would be interested as well so we could halve the postage. Have to be careful with EMS though as they will not send things over certain lengths. Put in AUD and it comes up with $380. It looks to be the "works type B" rear spoiler as run by the factory cars back in the day. Let me know if you are bringing one in. Your zed looks awesome too btw. I might bolt/tap screw one on so it can be removed easily if desired, can always drill out rivets though. Cheers

Best advice I can give is to do a panelbeating course at TAFE, have just started this year, did Mig welding last year, I would recommend this course of action. To do panelwork on a zed you will need to be very good at Mig welding and panelforming, which is what I am doing now. Support TAFE while the courses are still there, because the way things are going, they may not always be...

Cheers guys will keep them in mind. Only question will be whether they fit over brake upgrades and whether offset is right as site says they are not compatible with some modern brake upgrades. Cheers guys hopefully the weather is a bit better over the next couple of weekends, we needed the rain, but this is going a bit far! Checked the fuel lines (replaced some) and filter and they all look good. Can't remember if there is an easily accesible connector on the fuel pump to disconnect it while I am cranking engine over. I am guessing the electric fuel pump will pretty much force fuel right up through the carbs when I am ready to start it. Fingers crossed! PS Scoota have cranked it by hand and nothing came out that shouldn't have

Hi guys, getting close to being able to crank the engine in my project zed, just need to sort out a few issues first. It is a stock L26 with an electric fuel pump. Engine has not run in the 3 years I have had it and guessing it has not run for 5-10 years. Have turned it over by hand with a socket on the crank pulley. Is there anything in particular I need to do before firing it - ie spraying fuel into carbies or cylinders? Was going to crank engine over until it got oil pressure with the starter. Any other tips?
