  1. It was the fast fours and rotary nationals. The sport compact class was running and we had three cars entered. Found this up the back And this was there

    Jambo

I know this is very late. Is anyone going to Jamboree this year? I'll be down Saturday arvie to see how the Denaus boys go.
  3. Looking very schweet Zedman!! I think a vid would would be the piece of straw that breaks the donkey's back and convince me to undertake a RB series project myself. Like many others, I can't wait to hear it running! P.S. I search and I search through this thread, did you use a mounting kit Zedman?
  4. What about people (person haha) from T-Bar?
  5. Castlemaine Rod Shop quoted me around $400 delivered for their RB conversion kit (it includes gearbox and engine mounts) into a 260Z. From my experiences with R32, R33 and VLs (the best thing I did my my VL Turbo was sell it! Ho ho ho!) all RB engines and gearboxes have the same or very similar mounts save the RB26DETT gearbox of course. CRS engineer their kits to the ADRs and provide a engineer's certificate (as far as I know) which saves money in engineering etc. I've been reading the Rb25DE into 240z thread....it's giving me some naughty naughty thoughts......
  6. An update. Got a big light box from Japan yesterday courtesy of Benzed. I get a MIG of my own this weekend so those few little rust spots will have to watch out . Body repair and prep will follow on straight after and hopefully it'll be ready to go to the painter mid September.
  7. According to "Haynes", a 260Z 2+2 has a turning circle of 11.3m to the left and 10.6m to the right with 2.9 turns lock to lock. One could assume that one direction having a larger radius would result in less turns needed to reach lock. BTW, nice use of eye and hearing protection..........
  8. Just a query about your throttle bodies, what kind of injector do they take?
  9. Heck yeah that shirt was nice and loud! If we could get 'em I'd take two haha!
  10. Got a call from my mate Jim today, said he had a wucked choice pressie for me from NZ turn up at the workshop. So I went around in my lunchbreak. I was so cranked up (ho ho ho bad joke I know!) and sure enough the LD28 crank had turned up! Here is some photos for proof . Many thanks to Mark from Japanese Diesel Parts in Christchurch!
  11. There is a more rust at the doglegs and bottom of the A pillars from the sunroof drains where the water hasn't drained away properly. Lots of cutting and welding....sigh. While I'm there I'm going to try to incorporate an additional tubular metal drain in which I can plumb the sunroof drains into instead of leaving them flopping around in the chassis. Thanks for the heads up on the conrods Lurch, I might begin another quest for elusive parts. It cost me $290NZD for the crank and an additional $290NZD in postage and handling. It should be here by the end of next week, fingers crossed Over and out! Neuby
  12. I'm interested in set of 17" 8.5" front and 9.5" rear if they will fit under ZG flares without too much stretching of the tires. Would 9.5" -19 fit under all four corners with flares?
  13. Right! An update, everything from the inside is out bar the steering column, handbrake and pedal box. I had a hack tonight at the last bit of sound deadener until the cold got the better of me. I went for a drive on the weekend in Jim's twin webered ol' skool L18 bored to 2L 1600 and OMFG, shame on me from wandering astray from the path of Weber enlightenment!!! So its back to a weberfied L31. I orded my LD28 crank from Jap diesel parts in NZ today so it should be here in a few weeks. I've been looking at forged rods and I've only found two companies that make a L24 set, they being PPM (Oz based) and Carrillo. Both look like they make a reasonable product. In the meantime I'm going to look for a set of vented rotor Hilux calipers and try and get away with modified Mini cooper rotors. Here are some pics!! The aftermath of tonights assualt. Photos from here down are from the weekend. Total money that the zed has given back to me. Photo from last Sunday I believe The worst rust around the tail lights Rust in the driver's side floor pan.
  14. Nice looking cars! Ahh Mt Mee is a wonderful drive. Last time I was up there was with the 1600 club. The 1600 club is full of nutters that give it the pills all the time haha. Made for good spectating. When the zed is done, Mt Mee is on my top 10 list of drives to fang along once its run in. Might bring the R33 down if you guys organise another run soon.
  15. Natural selection will kill these off......
  16. OMG! Throttlebody porn!!! Thats looking well wicked! Are they the efi hardware items?
  17. The folding seat won't be going back in, it'll be converted into storage for wine and cheese platers for those tours up in the hills for a picnic (long story, its a comprimise with the missus) An update. A co-worker made the comment that an old L series powered Zed would not be able to beat a GTR on the track (namely his). Now like any self respecting Zed owner, you can't let someone get away with saying that, so its on, like DONKEY KONG!! After chatting to my associate 1600 nut, we've decided to go down a different route. The basic engine list is as follows: - F54 block - N42 Head - L16 rods - KA24 pistons - to start with, second hand pair of VG30DETT or RB26DETT turbos - Megasquirt - stronger driveline (to future detail) The idea is an L30ETT so to speak. It yeilds a conrod/stroke ratio of about 1.68, which in theory should increase reliability and give some 'free' power. The comp ratio will be somewhere 8.5-9:1. I haven't had a chance to build something like this since the supercharged '94 tarago (I shit you not!!) that I worked on in uni. I will keep you posted on the progress, feel free to comment.
  18. Holy snapping duck poo! I'd get a PS3 for Wangan! After all I bought an Xbox 360 for Halo 3 and have only used it for 20 hours and I bought it the day after Halo 3 was released......does anyone want it?
  19. Damn all of you and your coastal locations!
  20. Not far off now! Its looking very schmick, I can't wait to hear those throttlebodies on youtube.
  21. As the subject asks, how many people on the forums are from QLD??
  22. Bit of an update. Almost all the sound deadening is out. Couple of rusted spots through the floor pan, nothing that can't be fixed. I don't have any photos as I've been working on it at night hours and the lighting ain't too good, I have Sunday off so I'll try and get some pics. Only the engine and the heater/AC left to remove. I've been suming up my engine options. The car has matching numbers so I'm comtemplating keeping the original L26 in it. I have no idea, are matching numbers important to anyone other than collectors? The L28 I have access to is an F54/N42 so an L31 is still tempting. There is also the option of something a little newer, perhaps, RB26DETT. It's pretty much up in the air right now. Whats "cooler"? An L26 bored and turbo'd or an NA L31??
  23. Thats a shmick looking zed! How many engines has it eaten? How do you find the Haltech F9?
  24. How'd you find your braking after a few laps? Did it hold up well, no fading?
  25. x 2!! Truly inspirational stuff!
