Yup, agreed. I have one now as my daily, standard they're no slouch. But with a bit of work done to them they're a good engine, especially with a decent tune.

Ah, very good, we find Bluebirds occasionally over here, but pretty rare to find one in decent condition. However, the one in the pic isn't a 4wd version . I think that these were made when they were trying to sell the last few off...

For price, depends on what condition the rest of the car is in.. But $500 is a bit cheap. I mean, I bought my 2+2 for $500 and it was a rusted heap, complete, but rusty and the engine has a suspected blown head and hadn't moved more than 2 metres in the 10 years before I bought it.

Oi, there's nothing wrong with having a chromed air box lol. It is a nice Z though, hopefully it finds a nice home.

haha, I got one of those for christmas off my folks. Looks great, I just have to put it together (should get some spare time now work is slowing down a tad). I was going to use it to test the colour I want my real Z to be, but not sure, might paint it up like a BRE or something. I think it's great how it lets you change the location of the suspension to allow it to sit on its guts for looks or whether it's rasied a bit for racing. These things have come a long way in a few years

There aren't any from factory. You have to swap the heads with an RB25 or 26.

I believe that if your car came with emissions gear on it, then it legally has to have emissions stuff on it. I think the rules apply to cars after 1975(?) from memory, but someone else will confirm that. From what I understand, you can't legally change to the earlier carbs because the car is still post 75 and therefore, is required by law to be equipt with emissions gear. But that still hasn't stopped people from doing the swap after they get it back on the road... Cheers mate.

WTF? There's one thing we have a-plenty and that's useless dipsticks who can't drive 4x4's. Sorry to hear the bad news Scoota, at least they didn't do more damage and at least you're capable of fixing it! But still a pain that you have to do all the work for someone else's mistake. If you want / need a hand (or a beer ), give me a buzz and I'll come over.

But remember, you'll have to do most of the same work to get the RB to fit in, plus get the sump modified etc. But I suppose you can buy a complete RB and not have to source individual parts like the L28. But researching what you need and sourcing parts is half the fun of the build isn't it? You might need to chase up some of the Z shops in the states to source some of the parts.

Thanks Dave, yeah, have a bit of room to move, just have to build a few more shelves to store things on. Just came in from stripping some of the paint off the front radiator support area and have found a few holes that the guy who had previously restored the car had filled in with bog, not a big problem, but thinking I might as well take the rest of the car back to bare metal to find any other holes. I rekon it's a good idea Gav. If it helps fund the site then I don't think it'll be a problem. The ads I've seen on other forums aren't really that intrusive and don't seem to be annoying.
