Thanks gents. It was a bit daunting, taking the angle grinder to the shell at first, but well worth it once things start coming together. I also ripped up the sound deadener stuff from the floor and there's only a bit of surface rust in there, so that all looks good I'm hopefully having a month off work soon-ish so will get a fair bit done then I hope. Have sorted out the heaters in the garage now so I really can't use the 'Ballarat is too cold to work in the garage at night' excuse. This week is looking good for some decent headway, as long as I don't have to work late.

Geepers, it's been ages since I posted an update.... Anyway, been busy working on the front end, which I didn't want to post up pictures of, because the previous repairs to it were pretty shameful, but have been convinced to share the 'love'. So have a laugh, I do, then I try and fix it. Please note that I welcome constructive criticism, but remember I'm a noob to both welding and panel work. As mentioned before the PO had a bingle in the front end and had 'fixed' it using a number of various techniques. Here's the front right corner. [table] [tr] [td] [/td] [td][/td][/tr][/table] I attacked said area with angle grinder and ended up with a 3mm thick bit of random metal they had tacked on (however, they retained part of the original panel in the top right). Chassis stiffening FTW! Race spec. yo! Now I haz hole to fit my head through! I'm not sure why they cut out that section, there doesn't seem to be that much damage to the original metal.. But I didn't see the original extent of the damage. The left over metal is pretty thin with a bit of rust going through it, so it'll be more chop chop, weld weld before it's complete. Luckily the original metal has all the factory holes in to line up the bonnet hinges etc. so I can make a template. I test fitted my new panel (based off my blue 2+2) and drilled the holes etc. to fit (which I somehow managed to stuff up after measuring twice). So at the moment it looks like this: [table] [tr] [td] [/td] [td][/td] [td] [/td] [/tr][/table] So lots more work to do, but I think it looks better than the PO's attempt to fix it. I still need to trim parts of the panel up before I weld it in. It's taken me ages to make the new panels up since this is the first bodywork and welding I've attempted, I have another panel half made up to go on the front left, but that still needs more work to complete. As a parting image, here's the front left corner.. PO must have gone 'I know how to fix this! I'll weld, bolt and rivet random bits of metal in!' haha! Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to do rust repairs, then buy a cheaper one, but be prepared to fork out for a decent welder and cutting tools, plus a decent compressor if you're going to spray what you've cut out. Or then send it to a professional to get it sprayed. Depends if you want a project or one you can drive straight off.. and if you can put up with driving around in a cheaper one which may have rust popping through the paint.

Family friend used to have I-HAMMA as a plate on his Porsche. Local police used to wave and smile as he drove by... One of the blokes at work has SLAMND on his caddy.

That one has sold, i think to 'Bryan 3***'? Few more pics a couple of pages back which explained that it wasn't quite rust free.

There's a dead giveaway. Why would they have left the tops of the doors there from factory? Every other T top that i've seen has had the top of the door as part of the targa roof that you pull out. Take a look:

Hahaha, still can't believe the smoke you left behind at one of the intersections.. That thing definitely has some poke.. Maybe I'll have to rebuild my engine and turbo setup before I had intended and slap it into Dale's orange car to see how it goes?

Big thanks to Lurch and Rev for putting on the day and to Mick for coming over to lend his expertise, look forward to tackling the 'issues' on my car now. Thanks also to Lurch's family for putting up with an extended visit from the Ballarat guys. Can't believe Lurch and Scoot got it all done.. Incredible effort guys, especially considering the quality of the end product. Hope Kyle was able to make his way home!

Hmm, I must have it pretty good I rekon, on top of my garage, my girl has a 4 car garage + a bit, which she doesn't use and has given permission for me to store more cars in... Now I'm just waiting for an affordable project Dodge Charger to come up and then I can move on to filling up her garage...

I'm interested in the Nismo tag. What was different about the engine to the stock L28? Yes, I know the engine is sold, but I'm just curious.

I use a free program called 'irfanview' (http://www.irfanview.com/) and have taught a few people in the office who aren't that handy with computers how to resize their images for e-mailing etc. It's as simple as clicking Image-> Resize and then selecting the size you want, it has the most common ones built in, then just save the image and upload to place of your choice. It also has the added benefit of being able to do multiple images at a time, so you don't have to do the same thing 10 times for 10 images. Alternatively, there's a few websites like http://www.shrinkpictures.com/ that offer online image resizing if you don't want to download a new program. Just reading the shrinkpictures website, they actually made the page to solve the 'how do I resize pictures for posting on forums' threads... Maybe a link we can add to the how to resize thread?

I think the prices that Sulio was quoted for the E size are roughly about what I've been quoted from my local BOC dealer, so the prices may have come down.
