  1. Hi, I am keen on being involved in a group weatherstrip kit buy as well. I am also intrigued about the Kia Sportage rubbers. What model Sportage? Regards Peter
  2. Great story,You and your Dad will never forget that trip. Well done! Good to see you only have the old AM radio too. Regards Peter
  3. I know many of you are into motor sport with your Z or spending your time modifying them. I don't have the time/energy or probably ability for motor sport and while I will do basic maintenance and repairs any serious mods are probably beyond me as well. In the 5 years I have owned my car I have driven it basically as a daily driver and I have driven it in some pretty amazing places including the Northern Territory, North Queensland, Western Queensland, Outback NSW and Northern Victoria and I have never been stuck on the side of the road other than when I was stuck due to flooded roads (Ingham North Queensland). As with any older car my Z seems to require attention often to attend to little things that stop working or rattle and creak. Recently I thought I will never get around to giving the car all the attention it really deserves, so I started negotiating to sell to one of the people that regularly post on here looking for someone to sell. Turns out when the chips were down right at what I thought was near the end of negotiation they pulled out. Decided to buy some other type of car apparently. I was annoyed as I took their word for it they were serious and had been very honest with the potential purchaser. However I think they did me a favour........... Since then I thought I may as well enjoy what I have and have done some really interesting touring around North East Victoria. I went to Beechworth to the Old Cranks Car show about three weeks ago (saw a 260Z 2+2 on display) then went back via Yackandandah. I had a great drive from Wodonga to Corryong the weekend before last, lovely mountain drive that one. Turned off at Old Tallangatta on the way back and drove toward Bethanga, started off as narrow bitumen winding through hills above the back of Hume Weir before turning to dirt. I thought oh well it's not a show car (far from it) it's here to be driven and had a hoot on winding hilly dirt road for about 10Km before turning back to bitumen just before Bethanga, from there back to Wodonga, total 160+ miles. Yesterday I drove to Myrtleford via Yackandandah, from Myrtleford to Porepunkah then up to Mt Buffalo. Other than bouncing me around with worn shocks and springs the car went a treat, though it is a good thing the heater works, there was no snow but it was very cold. After driving around on Mt Buffalo I headed down the mountain and went to Bright. If you get the chance to check out Bright I recommend you go to the Old Tobacco Sheds just on the Porepunkah side of Bright. They have 22 rooms full of fascinating old stuff on sale including a "motor sport room" where I bought a picture of a sideways Z in a rally out the back of Bright. The man working there is into Valiant Chargers and he was very happy to talk cars with me. From Bright I went over the range to Mt Beauty, great drive that one. The view from the lookout on the top of the hill is magnificent. From Mt Beauty It was back through the Kiewa Valley to Wodonga, unfortunately it got dark for half of this final leg and my lights are not great. Total of 172 miles yesterday. I hope I haven't bored you all but it has been a recent voyage of rediscovery for me and may just fire me up to get around to fixing those annoying little things, suspension, upgraded headlights etc. Must start thinking about where to go next weekend.... Anyway I have some pictures I would like to share but can't figure it out just now (Old Computer Operator)..... hopefully later. Regards Peter
  4. Thanks Gareth, I am keen to buy in Australia if I can to keep some money in this country, so I will keep looking for options for the time being. I will take your advice and check out sourcing them from the USA if I have to. Regards Peter
  5. Hi, I am very interested in where you get the KYB rear gas inserts for a 240z? the Australian catalogue shows front insert part no 361002 available but nothing for the rear. I found this out at my local suspension shop. On Ebay USA I have come across part no 361001 for the rear inserts, but as stated these do not come up in the list of inserts available through Australian suppliers. I too just want a reliable road car and from what I have been advised KYB with new springs should fit the bill for me. There are some great drives around here on the local country roads, however this is showing the limitations of my worn suspension. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Regards Peter
  6. Simon, If you have shingles I feel very sorry for you. I suffered with shingles last Dec. Unfortunately it took the Dr a while to diagnose it so I did not start the treatment until I had had it for a few days, apparently it is important to catch it early. It was one of the worst ailments I have ever suffered with. I still have some scars on my face from it. I wish you a speedy recovery. Regards Peter
  7. AllZparts is where I have sourced nearly all the parts I have needed since I have owned my 240Z. I have always found them excellent to deal with. I really hope Warren is okay as he is a nice guy also I won't know where else to get my bits from. Regards Peter
  8. I will be surprised if this lasts long, looks good to me. If I was in QLD I would be keen to take a look. Regards Peter
  9. Thanks for the info, regards Peter
  10. Hi, an interesting topic. Does anyone know if 2 seater and 2+2 rear bumpers are the same size? Is a 2+2 bumper slightly longer? Thanks regards Peter
  11. Hi Pauly, I haven't seen you for a while do you still work at the same place? I did see a red 2+2 there which I thought might be yours but that was a couple of months ago. I was planning on going to Zane's Panels in Wodonga. He did some stuff for me a while ago and seems to do reasonable work. The hassle is going to be that I know they will take the bumper off and send it away for straightening & re chroming and that will take a while. It may have to wait until mid/late Jan as I am in the middle of moving from Bonegilla to Wodonga and then I am going back to Townsville for Christmas in a week and a half's time. Interesting what you say about BF Panels as some people at work have suggested them. Thanks for the info, I hope I catch up with you soon. Regards Peter
  12. Hi all, Contacted Shannon's this morning gave them details about the accident and other drivers details etc, they gave me a quote number and told me to take the car to the repairer of my choice. I have been assured I will not have to pay any excess nor will I lose my no claim bonus, Shannon's will chase up payment from the other driver/his insurance. I must say Shannon's have been very good to deal with so far over this. Thanks again for all of the advice. Regards Peter
  13. Thanks everyone for advice. I will contact Shannons tomorrow and let you know the outcome. Regards Peter
  14. Thankyou for the responses. I was only being smart when I said I was going too slow around the corner. I know the other driver is at fault and so does he. I actually think I got off lightly, I don't know what it is with this part of the world seems they all love to tail gate you, normally though it is some huge 4x4 right on my tail, luckily this time only a Falcon. To answer, yes I do have a witness and I am insured with Shannon's. I will call Shannon's tommorrow, though I do not want to claim on my insurance and lose no claim bonus etc. So no need for me to see this RTA mob then? Thanks for the advice Regards Peter
  15. Hi, A young guy in a Falcon drove into the back of my 240Z at traffic lights in the middle of Albury. It does not appear to be a great deal of damage, mainly a bent rear bumper and a few scratches in the panel behind the bumper. Apparently I was too slow going around the corner when the lights changed so needed a push! We exchanged details and I went straight to the Police Station to report it. However the Cop said there was no need for any further action if we had exchanged details etc. Are there any NSW people that can advise on any other reporting action I might have to take?, someone said something about reporting it to the RTA? however I have not been long in this area and so am unaware of the process. Young man tells me he is insured with Budget Direct which concerns me as sounds like a company that does stuff on the cheap. I hope they do not cause me too much grief getting this repaired. Thanks Regards Peter
  16. Hi Hady, Welcome. Where in Malaysia are you from? Regards Peter
  17. Hi Linton, I bought a windscreen seal from AllZparts a year or two ago, it accepts the stainless steel strips. Regards Peter

Hi, Can anyone confirm that KYB rear shocks are available for 240Z? I was talking to a local suspension shop in Wodonga yesterday and the guy recommended KYB but when we looked in the catalogue it only had front available. he told me I would have to source something else for the rear. Thanks Regards Peter
  23. The breather on my 240z was all rotted out and kinked and used to leak when I tried to fill the tank up to full. However yours leaking 3-4 litres 85km or so after filling up sounds different. I am not familiar with the electric fuel pump system on the 260Z but could it be leaking from where the pump draws the fuel from the tank? It was not that difficult to drop the tank out on mine and I suspect it would be similar for a 260Z. This is probably the way to go so you can deal with all the tank issues at once. We made a new breather for my tank after we located the right diameter hose with the correct bend and modified it to fit using brass plumbing fittings and it works a treat. Good luck with it. regards Peter
