Your budget and expectations are realistic so you're already ahead of most prospective buyers. Just need patience and perservirence. Keep an eye on the third party car sales thread here (sub to it) and check classifieds daily. I kid you not there are people out there that check classifieds and forums multiple times a day. I was one of them for months prior to purchasing one and I still check out of habit... Good luck.

A large screwdriver is not a windscreen removal tool. Just saying... Mine are just leaning on a shed wall with a towel underneath and on top. Same as the windows.

I have a plate with cracked corners where the screws go. I will order one through him. Just waiting for him to come up with more parts before I place another order. I ordered pretty much everything on his site late last year. Yes, I have a switch. Looks tatty compared to the freshly plated radio I have but it's not something you can see so I'm not fussed. It looked difficult to take apart for plating so I left it.

Anyone that uses tablets or phones to view the forum would appreciate it. It's just a slick stripped down version of the forum designed to load fast on mobile devices. More people using Tapatalk = less strain on your resources.

I briefly researched this. You might save a few dollars but the time and space investment will offset that and then some. You're also handling toxic chemicals which is never fun and unfortunately the results are average at best from what I've seen compared to what a professional plater can do for you. There's also the problem of large parts which require large baths... If you were to persist you might be able to reach a stage where you're outputting consistent quality results but the amount of parts you'd need plated for a single car restoration is not enough to achieve this. If you anticipate plating other items, helping out friends and possibly doing more restorations yourself in the future, you can probably justify the time.

No messing about at that price.

Too hard basket. I bought one of the local supplied standard size bolt kits which are geared towards metric Japanese cars. I fully expect sourcing fasteners to be one of the hardest things about a resto.

Welcome Jon Hmm, did you buy the car from Adelaide? I believe it was listed on Carsales... The timing fits with my crushed dreams. I was negotiating with the owner of a silver '71 and he wanted to let a local check it out before he accepted my offer which obviously never happened. The car I recall looked pretty neat without much work required.
