  1. The 1979 models did not have the Targa top, my son had one, I think they are better too but only from water and sun issues. The 280ZX are a good option for generation Y Zed guys has all the mod cons (fuel injection, electric windows, digital displays, power steering). They are not a bad car for the open road. You may even get a 300ZX for less than 5k
  2. Great buy, I watched this one go through. $9k was the eBay price, looks like there was another guy stepping it up and he got done in the last seconds. For a 2 seater in that codition I would have put it well over $10k Drove mine from Albury to Brisbane without any problem and it was driven very infrequently too. I would just keep an eye on water and oil and make sure the gauges work. Check all fuilds (break, clutch too)
  3. That would be great if it was as they have one of the tallest 5th gears, wished I had put it in now! Any idea how to tell for sure? I will put the sale on hold until I can check it out.
  4. I would check clutch fluid, probably low.
  5. I have a gearbox that was taken out of a Zed but is not a Zed box as the filler is on the passenger side. Cannot be sure what it is unless someone can give me a heads up what to look for. $150 and its located in Sydney atm and may end up in Brisbane Call Tim on 0413884330
  6. Mine is the 1975 2+2, here is the link http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,3568.0.html And if you can get a good one at good price, its a nice drive from Vic to Qld, flight will only cost you a couple of hundred.
  7. If you are after a every day driver with fair mechanical and fair body you could get one for 5-7k and there are few around but they would be some work. Anything much better you are looking at 7-10k, in fact mine is for sale in the classifieds here And its in Brisbane. If you are after a good one a cheap price it will take some time and you have to wait until someone sells one in a hurry or in a remote location Keep an eye on carsales.com and also the Qld Zed site. There are two cheap ones on car sales now, make them an offer, you never know And as far as for a 2+2, we all know which one has the right geometry and that is what the "plus" is for
  8. Called your mobile from PM My mobile is 0413884330. Cheers Tim
  9. Have a 260Z 5 speed gearbox that I bought and never used. Was told it was a good box before it was removed. $250.00 Its located at a mates place in Sydney
  10. Here is on that has been on the SA and OZDAT sites for a while that is in Tassie: 1975 Datsun 260Z 2+2 Completely std, except for exhaust (extractors into 2"), ignition (push button due to broken ign. barrel), and air con (removed) Original engine and box. 5-speed manual Excellent mechanical condition, engine has recently been tuned by dougin & parker (l'ton) with new filters, spark plugs, leads, rocker cover gasket, points, and re-set timing. Good comp on all cylinders. Body is immaculate, totally straight with NO rust. Interior is very good with re-trimmed dash and drivers seat. All vinal is perfect except a split seam in drivers seat. Odo says 66,000km, but it's only 5 dig so that doesn't mean much... Tas rego till 17/04/08 Issues: I've put her through a RACT Mech Insp. and a Pedders Suspension check and these are the issues... Suspension: tie rod ends, radius bushes, rear shocks, and all bump stops are worn and rear tires are bald. Mechanical: Some electrical issues (will be fixed before sale), rear demister and clock don't work, movement in rear drive shaft's uni joint. At the moment there's no carpet, i'll have this fitted at buyers request. The car was recently resprayed and while the paint is in excellent condition, it wasn't the best job in the world... looking for offers over $7000, this is a very clean example. *original front end has been re-fitted since photos.* i'm not online much so if you're interested my phone number is 0427848767 cheers, nick

  14. Waht about the 260 2 seater in Sydney that only got bids to $3k, surely this looks like a good pick up... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=180316730784
  15. There are a couple on eBay on another thread, 240Z and 260Z 2 seater both in Brisbane
  16. If any inter state guys wants me to have a look at either one in Brisbane I will should be able to get to them. The 240 does not have a reserve showing
  17. There is one on the NSW Zed site, the add is a bit old may be gone now http://www.zcarclub.com.au/zforum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=82
  18. For an every day driver if you want a Zed I would get one that is not as collectable as a 240Z or 260Z 2 seater. The 260Z 2+2 is a lower price, there are more of them and the later ones are more likely to have AC. I tried driving mine every day but must agree was always concerned with the wear aand tear and everything needing replacing to it ended up in the shed all the time. Also, not that I have driven one but I think the ones with the RB conversions would be better in traffic. Fuel injection was a great idea.
  19. There is one on eBay in Brisbane, I can look at it if you are really interested
  20. I have a stock 260Z 74 run on 91 ULP no additive and have had no problems and done about 10,000 k's
  21. I put a Bluebird box in mine and it went straight in and is a far nicer box to drive with at a fraction of the price. Ratios a little different but I am not good enough to pick it :-\
  22. I have fitted AC to exactly the same Zed, mine is a mid 1974 Have a look at this link when I put it all down before http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,1909.msg14103.html#msg14103 If you need more I happy to help with info. Also can send photos
  23. Good luck with it, looks like a great catch
  24. Fuel tank from the manual is 60 litres I get 9l/100klm on highway 12l/100klm round town for 100% stock 260z with roundtop SU's
