  1. Sorry Lurch, just didn't think anyone would be interested in watching a bunch of V8s go round. next time.
  2. Did a sprint with the HSV owners club at Sandown today, did a PB 1.20.6. This is .8 sec quicker than last time, got the tyre pressures right and did a mod on the front suspension to raise the roll centre and reduce the body roll. I think it was the FTD also, very happy with the result!!! cheers, Sinisha
  3. Scando, modern ball bearing low inertia turbos come in sooner and are more progressive as a result. When I fitted my new turbos I found that the car became more responsive and more "linear" when accelerating. You could limit your boost so that you still have the same max torque down low but more power up top, so your drive train will be stressed to the same level. cheers, Sinisha
  4. I have lost about a second per lap, one proviso, my pressure gauge reads 2psi low (which I found out today!). So I have yet to see their full potential, maybe another .5sec, which would put me in the 1.20's. something I have been aiming at for a long time.
  5. The compound I got is the 5 which is middle of the range, there is a 3 and softest of all is a 1, the hardest is the 7. I was told that the 3 compound is good for hillclimbs and the 1 for motokanas I was running some RE540S Bridgestones.
  6. Hi Dimitri, yes I did fit the Silverstones, lots of grip! I have to re-learn driving the car as the corner speed is so much better! Need to take some brave pills.
  7. Ran Sandown last weekend and did a PB, 1.21.4, need to do some more suspension tuning and I think a 1.20 is possible. Engine now making 330rwkW. cheers, Sinisha

    cam for L28ET

The turbo you describe sound similar to the Gibson HR31 unit, it had a TO4E compressor with a .6 housing and a Hiflow T3 exhaust wheel 1.0 housing. Updating the turbo would give you the biggest bang for your buck. Waxhead, I was referring to the standard L28T exhaust manifold.

    cam for L28ET

It has been a long time since the L28T was in the car, but from what I remember with the Gibson HR31 turbo mid range was good, power started to drop off about 5700. As I discovered later when Jack put the bigger ball bearing turbo and good manifold on the Gibson unit and standard manifold were killing the top end. What turbo setup are you running? One bit of advice I can offer is get yourself a current generation Garrett ball bearing turbo as I think this will give you the biggest gains in power. An example is my RB26, with a set of group A gibson turbos it made 150 kW @ 4000 rpm atw and 307kW @ 7100 on 100 octane fuel. I put a set of Garrett -7 ball bearing turbos on it and made 200kW @ 4000, and 330kW @ 7100 on 98 octane fuel. Big improvement in response and efficiency. cheers, Sinisha

    cam for L28ET

Hi Shane, The cam I had in the L28T was supplied by Datrally and was what they called their turbo grind. I believe Wade did the grinding. Jack, the current owner of the engine has put a bigger turbo and tube exhaust manifold on it, he got around 240kW ATW on 98 octane unleaded. cheers, Sinisha
  11. James, what condition is the steering rack in and how much? cheers, Sinisha
  12. Hi Craig, I bought some new wheels from Benzed, 17*8.5 Rota RB. Hi Jane, next event will probably be MSCA sprint at Sandown in late June. Lurch, you are a smooth talking F...ER!
  13. Mossy, front brakes working well. Lurch, rims still causing some rubbing on the rears but I can feel the tyres working better, less sidewall flex sharper on the turn in. cheers, Sinisha
  14. Took the wipers off as they start to flap about above 200. cheers, Sinisha
  15. Well James, I think there is only one engine really. And that would have to be the... Damn, I think I can hear my RB26 Zed calling, gotta go!!!
  16. Hi DevilZ I will take the lower control arms if they are still available cheers Sinisha
  17. Hi DevilZ Do you have any pictures of the adjustable strut tops, and would you be willing to separate the bits? cheers, Sinisha
  18. Does anyone have any experience or information on Silverstone FTZ-TYPE R tyres? I notice Benzed has their sticker on his car, any info Ben? cheers, Sinisha
  19. Sorry, they are sold.
  20. I read some time ago that the US army did some testing of a bunch of oil additives and found they were all ineffective and some were harmful to engine internals. what the found was that all they had in them were friction modifiers that had a short term effect and then broke down over time. As for shear wear, modern grade 4 synthetics that are ester based (Red Line, Motul V300) do not have a problem. Zinc additive is a old solution to the problem. When I had my L28 turbo motor I ran a shell synthetic and had no problems with wear. The line about wasting your money on a synthetic oil in a older engine is the biggest croc of .... I have heard in a while. Ask the V8 super car engine builders if the use a mineral based oil, they have to work with some very old engine designs. What about lower coefficient of friction, improved heat dissipation, longer life. All these thing still apply in any internal combustion engine. Now that I have got that off my chest I will go and have a nice little lie down.
  21. Just to add to this, when I first fitted the RB26 it made 210 rwkW running 15 pound boost. The car did a 11.8 second 1/4 mile at 118 MPH, and it weighed about 1200Kg with driver. So I would expect Bens car to be a little quicker given the lower weight.
  22. Yes, very interesting numbers. If you use the 1/4 mile exit speed (104 MPH) and car weight (2300 lb) and plug them into the Moroso power speed calculator you get a power figure of 200HP. Which I think is closer to the real value.
  23. Thanks for all the compliments gents, but I have to say clearance is a bit of a problem. I have to run more negative camber than I normally would on the road to clear things. cheers, Sinisha
  24. Hi Ash, any chance of whipping up the G-nose spoiler that we spoke about? cheers, Sinisha
