    240Z on diet

Recently I decided to pull some weight out of my car in the hope of improving my lap times. I decided to fit a fibreglass dash and remove the heater and fan as well as all the sound deadening in the car. The demister function is now performed by a little camping hair dryer which works very well. So, below is a breakdown of all the bits and their weight, in total I managed to remove 35KG. centre console 1.7KG speedo and cable 1.3 ducts 0.5 heater control 1.0 heater 6.3 fan 3.7 dash 9 sound deadening 7KG carpet 7.4 I hope this is of help to anybody considering doing the same. cheers
  4. Hi NZeder, I'm curious as to why you want to move the injectors away from the port? From what I understand the best position for the injector is aimed at the back of the intake valves. If you move the injector away from the port you get more chance of wetting of the manifold and poorer driveability as a consequence.
  5. 1. A while back I ran the same setup with no problems. 2. I wouldn't use a solid front mount unless you make the rear mounts solid as well as all torque reaction in the drive train will eventually snap the diff cross member as it will be taking all the twisting. Chris Woods made the diff mount for me and it works a treat, no extra brackets required. 3. NFI 4. Check this link for engine mounts. http://mckinneymotorsports.com/prod_DATSUN+510+SR+SWAP+PARTS#prod-155

    Z32 Turbos

I have a pair of genuine ex Gibson group A GTR turbos in excellent condition. Good for about 640 HP, that's with the .64 exhaust housings, I also have some .48 housings which are good for 400 HP at the wheels which I will throw in for free. cheers
  12. Here are a few pics of my Zed at Sandown in June. cheers.
  13. Haven't been to Phillip Island for 6 years (maybe later this year) but here they are... Phillip Island 1.52.2 Sandown 1.21.8 Hope to improve on both times as a few mods have happened since.
  14. I can confirm Jack has a RB25DET box, he bought the engine from me. cheers.
  15. Let me rephrase the corrosion issue, what I meant to say is a small percentage of ethanol in petrol has no long term effects, but works really well in surpressing detonation allowing more timing and boost to be used.
  16. The Shell V Power Racing has 5% ethanol and did wonders for my car. When retuned for the 100 octane fuel my power went from 280kW atw to 310kW. And the corrosion is not caused by ethanol but methanol which is used in many categories of drag racing. cheers,
  17. Forgot to ask, what brand of dyno do they have?
  18. Count me in, I haven't done a dyno day in a few years.
  19. The reason for the hydraulic handbrake is I am looking into putting the four piston calipers from the corvette to match my front 6 piston calipers. As I currently have the Falcon XF rear brake conversion with mechanical hand brake. I have found a mechanical handbrake caliper and am waiting on details so I can compare cost/difficulty of either setup.
  20. To all the guys who requested info on the brakes I would like to apologise for not getting back to you. I didn't see the topic come up after a few days so assumed no further interest. Now to answer some questions..
  21. I am thinking of putting a hydraulic hand brake on my car and was wondering if anybody has any info. Are there any kits available? Does anyone have one and can shed some light on the process of fitting one?
  22. Chris did the mount as a one off, so yes a very reasonable price. The rotors are a high quality competition item from www.stoptech.com and the price is for 2. The reason I went with the Z06 calipers is that PBR who makes them won a engineering design award for this caliper, and they are a road caliper with dust seals so they comply with ADR's. I am in the process of bedding in the rotors and pads and I have to say the comp pads squeal like a stuck pig!!!
  23. I would like to do the rears as well, but that might have to wait for a little while. due to having the my LSD recoed and fabricating a front diff mount to stop tearing apart standard diff mounts. Here is a pic of what I had made by Chris as well. The cost of fabricating the mount $80, special polyurethane mount $64 l
