  1. Got some pics to help me follow, where you're going Jason?
  2. Wowsers................. It's been over a year since there's been any activity here. Maybe because there's been no activity here! I finally got out to the garage and gave the car a service and look over before heading out to Sandown Raceway on the 2nd of Feb. Dad and I double entered the car again and it started of well. But think the extra stress of 2 drivers, making it 8 sessions, was a bit hard on the car. My best lap was a 1:32.4283 in the 3rd session. While dad layed down a 1:37.3436 in the 4th. The final session was a waste of time as the steering would shake under braking, indicating warped rotors. Pointing to where I need to upgrade. So I've started a new topic here http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,15608.0.html Here's a video from the 2nd session. You'll notice that the rear of the car gets a bit loose through the corners......... Needs some new rubber back there! At the end of the day, I had a ball. Nothing seriously went wrong and I was able to drive there and back again. A first for Sandown! So I'll call that a successful day
  3. Thinking I need to up my braking power. Years ago the brake master cyl was rebuilt and re sleeved larger bore diameter. But I've never really been happy with the pedal. Also when you press the brake pedal, there has always been turbulence in the front reservoir, which is for the rear brakes. Last trip to Sandown, the pedal felt worse as the day progressed and eventually the steering would vibrate under braking. I suspect the front rotors are warped. The rear of the car feels loose coming into corners too. I think the rear brakes aren't working sufficiently, increasing demand to fronts. Upsetting balance of car, due to nose diving. I have aluminium 4 spot calipers up front with Ø296mm x 30mm ventilated, slotted rotors up front. Standard series 2 280ZX slotted rotors and calipers on the rear. S/S braided lines all round. TRW pads. Would an R32 skyline brake booster and master cyl be a viable option? After recommendations for a good all rounder brake pad too.
  4. I've been calling for this for years. But the for sale section is one of the most viewed pages on this site. And what good is benching your best player? Same thing could happen on Carsales, Gumtree or eBay etc. Due diligence and caution should always be used. When that fails, BS meter!
  5. If it's from a communal bike shed, provided from complex, it should be covered under their insurance!
  6. So a lesson to all. Take your caps off!
  7. This is a messsage to myself then.........
  8. I may, or may not, have left my caps on for the Sandown sprint meet last weekend. I can neither confirm or deny this fact. The result is, that I am now missing 2 caps! Don't suppose anyone here can help me out? Failing that, I can get another set of 4 from Ben @ Otomoto for $70 http://www.otomoto.com.au/p/4754759/watanabe-wheel-caps-set-of-four.html
  9. Good garage there. Considering what you used to work in!
  10. I've put it in the calendar. Is this a child friendly event or just dudes?
  11. My fastest lap, where the video didn't work, I removed the airbox and piping. Allowing the car to breath better...... I've always wanted to try it and if nothing else, felt faster purely as it sounded INSANE!!!!!!!
  12. Sounds good. Are you cooking us some Texas grill?
  13. I had better times than this, but video didn’t seem to work on those…….. Tyres not giving me the best grip, which dramatically affected, braking, corner speed and race line. But…… I caught up to cars on the straight that I would have expected to be quicker. Such as 370Z, Lotus Elise (n/a I’m assuming, not boosted), WRX and others. Dad did well too, getting a 1:37.3436
  14. Was a great day. Started off very wet! But dried off and had some great runs. I was put in the same group as the only other Z entrant, Richard. We had some great battles, but they called our group to join an earlier group. And dad was still on the track, as we shared the car. So I missed the final run and Rich smashed his old time by 1.2 seconds and ended up beating me by 0.6 in the end. Man the cars fast down the straights. Can't tell you the speed as JDM speedo only goes to 180. But I was catching a Lotus Elise or Exige and a 370Z. Corner speed and brakes clearly need attention now. We only did 4 runs in the end, but that's 8 for the poor old Z's. Then we had to drive it home! PMC strong!!!!!! I'm hoping to do a few more this year.
  15. Yes. I noticed only 1 PI event.......... A few Saturday events too! Sunday Feb 1, Sandown Saturday March 14, Calder Saturday April 11, Haunted Hills Sunday May 3, Calder Sunday June 21, Sandown Sunday July 19, Motorkhana at Laverton **New event** Sunday August 16, Winton Saturday September 12, Phillip Island Saturday October 10, Sandown Sunday Nov 1, Winton
  16. Well it appears that there is no one else going? It's been great to do some work on the Z, the first time since the Nationals in 2013......
  17. All the best mate. I hope you work it out amicably...... and keep your cars!
  18. Is it just me, or does $5k sound like a good deal for this?
  19. Decent turn out by the sounds of things. Loving that South Eastern Xpress
  20. I've not used those before. Why do you think they're better than Helicoils?
  21. Ok That looks pretty good!
  22. I always convert to Nm, as its easier to understand. Kg-m is close to 10%, given that 1kg is approx 9.81N. Ft-lb is purely for the crazy Murican's still using fractions!
  23. Love how they give 3 different types of torque figures...... Nm, ft-lb and kg-m Seriously messed up!
  24. Looking to enter this and get back into it this year after a massive 2014 of work, work and more work. 2015 is time to play! Anyone else interested in entering?
  25. Jason, don't you have a NFI head?
