if u want to retain the original most prob try source one in better condition or get it redone in leather. rough cost 80-100. other than that. if u want to do it your self. i would repair the steering wheel so it looks like its in good conditions ie body filler. make a mould. strip the steering wheel. position it correctly and than pour new rubber in the mould. u can get polyrubber kits but the time and effort to get anywhere near as good as new will far outweigh the trimmer cost in getting it redone in leather or just buying a nardi or similar old school steering wheels. or get a 240z wooden one.

more details about the upcoming cruise Gathering point is, on Tapleys Hill Rd. Just south of harbour town there is a carpark (its near the end of the airport runway). Here is a google map link: http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=adelaide&sll=-25.335448,135.745076&sspn=55.623725,78.75&ie=UTF8&ll=-34.954175,138.517749&spn=0.003179,0.006845&t=h&z=18 The route would be down the Southern Expressway then out past Aldinga and up Sellicks Hill. We'd turn right at the top and bypass Myponga to go across the reservoir dam instead, then out that way through to Carrickalinga and then to Normanville. The last 20 minutes of this drive is pretty good - good roads, fast corners. gathering from 9:30 and leaving at 10:30 sharp. if any more questions PM me or visit http://thezgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1386

are these still $80? -
I did some photo choping and came out realy good. makes it look a bit lower and bit less boring. still thinking about the fairlady z badges as i realy didnt want any badges but it may look to plain with stripes without the badges. im going to go for white or red stripes. prob white as i tried black and didnt like it still got to try red. white blends with rims but red breaks it up more and goes with the calipers. not sure yet.

LOL Craig's role was doing the high speed deliveries between melbourne and sydney in his 260z. its faster than the mighty gt and monaro plus it has a back seat for more goods also he was the hitman for anyone bagging the z for jag hihihhihihi still im hoping to see one still in the upcoming episodes.
-
cheers guys. i didnt think of them much at the begining it was yeah ok. maybe tad cluttered. but now dont mind it. now need to apply the 3 side stripes and fairlady z badges and find the rear original/copy spoiler.

speakers and stereo pihhhh just extra weight. wan't music? lower the windows and press the right foot down bit more and u got the best music in town. only reason i have radio in my car is to listen where the speed cameras and traffic jams are. though i only run 2x 6X9 behind the seats and does feel bit empty towards the front. since im making custom door trims i will integrate the pods for front speakers. but im not installing 2ton DLS splits, just simple but quality 2 or 3 way 6" or most probably on the end i wouldn't even bother. getting the colour changed or rejuvenated is easy. buy VIPONDS Taut Flex and paint them any colour u want. its very easy.

yeah LOL........ i guess the old jap cars got bit of flogging in those days. it wasnt a big V8 and you couldnt put 2.5 families (not 2.5 children)at the back of it.

not sure how many you guys watched Underbelly last nite the new season. i was stocked when one of the characters was talking about buying a new 280z ( i know should have been 280zx but than again the year was 1977 280zx didnt come till late 79???) than going to 260z and settling on the 240z till the other character reffered to them as JAP crap and that he should by a jag. LOL i wonder if we going to see the Z car in the Underbelly. it is set from 1976. lot of old classics in the footage. nice white Police Charger few GT falcons, fairlanes, holdens etc.... so hopefully there is a z in the future episodes. pitty the character that was going to buy one lost his hands and head and got burried. so he wont be talking about it again.

yeah i got 2X 240z series 1hatches with glass. one has no line at all or wiring for it while the other one does have the vertical ones. the on ethat has no demister is early 1970 number #227 the otehr one is a 72 but it has lot of parts on it from a series 1 including the vented rear hatch and vertical demister which is intact and working very well. so if it doesnt have adr plates most 1970 and some 71 dont have it u dont need a demister. or u can always say it never came with one LOL....

welcome to the site. very nice car by the way. Im impressed not one post bagging the 2+2. hope it stays that way.

EBAY the purple sin out of ya life. -
have to agree with PZG and scott. YOUR CAR do what YOU WANT. u can have an RB L28 VH45 SR20 if u do the mods carefully u can still bring it back if it ever comes to the point it will be worth a bit of coin. let face is unless its Z 432 or 432R or a toyota 2000GT or old GT-R they still a fairly common car unlike the collectors car mentioned previously. i got a 240z 1970 S1 #227 with matching engine the car is rough and will need lot of work to get back to its glory. most probably it will end up with a SR20DET or if i can afford RB26DETT. but will keep the L24 if ever the price goes through the roof and i need money desperately so i can bring it to more original. but it will get leather seats, flares, lsd, late model turbo engine and shiny non original colour of my choice. the mustard colour to me is yuk. and im not going to spend massive amounts of hours to paint it that colour. may choose one of the other original colours but most prob wont. if its quality work it will still fetch good money regardless what u do to it.

what u on about lurch? it looks cool only thing is its bit gay (not that there is anything wrong with it ) if u have stickers and dont have the stuff to back it up. in reality those brands $hit all over any other brand that yanks or oz can come up with. just from experience. Dave just whack heaps of neg camber drop it till chassis just clears the ground, big black closthes line spoile, paint the bonnet black add few more stickers on the windscreen and we have a Classic D1 DRIFT car. YAY hehehehehehehehe on serious note. looks like i real good buy. so what are the plans for this one? big rims slammed to the ground? no engine so good canditate for a monster! hmm RB26DETT

Z31 turbo came with few variations to keep in mind. Z31 turbo 84-86 most had open wheelers. Z31 turbo 86-87 had optional mech type LSD. the last of the Z31 turbo aka Californian came with viscous type so different coupling to the diff. also u should look at these cars to expand the search RS30 RSR turbo skyline has mech type LSD R31 coupe RB20DET turbo has MECH type LSD S12 silvia RS Turbo (gazelle) has mech type LSD. all the above are R200 with MECH type LSD which apperently stock unis driveshaft fit in. the later z31 doesnt but uses similar setup to S13 and R32 just in long nose config. with R31 has to be the imported 2 door. OZ models came with borg warner diff and only LSD in GTS and some silhouettes.

i used R32 RB20DET. and seesm to do the job quite well on 43C plus temperatures in traffic. have 2X12" electric fans that silvia one was it turbo or non turbo? Turbo ones are almost twice as thick in core even thought the tanks are same size. R32 RB20DET and S13 SR20DET radiators are identical. need slight trimming on the radiator to fit in the later 260z body.
