  1. Hey Sulio those wheels are alright, they are a mock up of these wheels. (See images attached). The real deal go for $3,500 - $5000 for a set of 4. Yes expensive, but doesn't stop me wanting a set
  2. Ok thought I'd start a poll on what is the number #1 all time modification you can make to a Zcar. I'll divide it up into categories and pick the best fit for your modification then describe what your choice was and why it is the #1 most essential modification you have to make. Keep it to 1 modification only unless it interlinked with another mod. Should be interesting.
  3. Funny you should post that Sulio, that was car of the month on zcar.com it truely is beautiful. It just shows that a Zcar doesn't need a front airdamn to be beautiful. Infact in many ways I dislike the airdamn's because they tend to stop the flowing lines of the zcar. I love the NOS bottle in the boot. I've been meaning to email the owner actually
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abqJ9Hc9l90&search=Fairlady Check it out, apart from the corny music it's quite good, you get the see what a Z looks like with a proper G-nose kit.
  5. Hello fellow members, I received an email today regarding having a feature on some of our zed cars. Here is the message I was sent: So who is interested in helping out a getting some exposure for the Zcar scene around Australia? I know I am, wish my zed was looking a little bit better though
  6. I think a concourse condition 240z early series I with hatch vents, different centre console and all that Jazz should be worth $25,000 if it's in perfect condition. By perfect I mean no rust, original paint colour, all original badging, new OEM interior items, centre console, heater controls. Engine is spotless original engine, gearbox for that year, rechromed everything, rezinc plated everything.
  7. I got sent this link today by Natez. Love the TC24-B Engines. Turbo charged angry little L-series engines. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/36c2e7cf-1192-4805-9cd4-7bd077e78b27.htm
  8. Hi Lynton, I believe the previous owner of my 240z used to take it to him. I would very much like to find out where he is and who has his contact details. I'd love to chew his ear off talking about Zcars and roadsters but also about my stroker motor plans.
  9. As the others have said it could be anything. Usually the L-series motor is not a problem but worn valve stem seals or rings causing burning oil might be a problem. Seals around the rear hatch letting exhaust smell come in are often picked up. Look at suspension, springs could be sagged or worn shockers (oil type) could be leaking. Bushes have usually perished by now if not replaced at some stage. Undersized brakes especially the rear drums which are often not correctly adjusted. (Handbrake adjustment). Dash globes could be gone (easy fix). The rest would be all the standard stuff but use your own discretion.
  10. On a side note their website is useless.
  11. All Z Parts in Sydney http://www.allzparts.com.au/ I couldn't remember the address the other day so thought I'd post it.
  12. Hi Bruce, I believe twin solex carbs were found on the Datsun roadsters. They were also a sports option in the 70's for the 240z. I believe the story goes that Solex was bought out by Mikuni who were possibly bought out by Dellorto later on. I'm not sure if that's 100% correct. Anyhow the original Solex carbs are very similar to the Mikuni's only with slight differences and parts can still be sourced if you try hard enough. I'm not sure what size they are most Triples I see are 40's and not 44's. Triple Mikuni 50's are very rare and sought after (I know I wanted a set) however I believe the 44's can be bored to a larger size so I settled on them. I am yet to have any experience with the Triple's but from what I've read they are generally easier to maintain tune with than Webers but it's all personal preference. I'd only use triples if I had done some port work and installed a bigger cam otherwise it's not worthwhile in my opinion as the twin 240z SU's perform very well and use less fuel.
  13. Hey Sulio, personally I love both spoilers and they are by far the best choice for a Zcar when it comes to the larger airdamn's. Out of the two I prefer the non ducted/fluted, the main reason is I believe it flows with the lines of the Zcar better. As to which one performs better I have no idea. I have had the big airdamn spoiler on a Z before and have to say I like the way the Zcar looks without any spoiler, but at the same time I understand it helps with the front end at speed. I personally like the look of the Gnose (Authentic not fibreglass copy) or the BRE style spook as in the attached picture.
  14. Hey Nathan Sounds like a good idea to me. I've been meaning to organise another meet but have been too busy to really give it a serious thought. I've also found that during the winter months less guys take out their zeds. Seeing as we have grown to quite a few more members recently, I think we should have a meet and check out some of these zeds around Victoria. If it's pouring with rain I'd say we should cancel it. I'll send out a group email tonight if I remember. If not give me a reminder .
  15. Absolutely brilliant win by the Socceroos. Did anyone else watch the game? My heart was in my mouth for 80mins. For those who don't know Australia won 3-1 against Japan.
  16. Yep we all feel the same way. It's very frustrating however I've decided to take charge and start a blog on how my project is coming along. Some of you may have noticed it here: http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/ I want to detail the work i'm doing and give myself some goals to achieve. I work full time and have been busy with Uni also part time. It is hard to find the time I wanted to install my triples just to hear them roar but haven't found the time to even tinker with it. I'd pay a mechanic so you can enjoy it mate.... plenty of other things to do yourself later it never ends, you know that.
  17. Just realised you have an RB20 in it.
  18. Hello and welcome to the site. I'd be interested in seeing pictures of your 260z and RB conversion. What RB motor have you put in? Feel free to post pictures in our gallery.
  19. I believe he is aware of that fact. He does mention Australia. I'm wondering if your friend has a website yet or if he's is building one? A link to it would be good as a reference for anyone wanting a custom EFI system like this.
  20. Great work keep us posted on your progress.

    260z gearbox

I believe all 260z 2 seaters had the good box. From the outside it looks identical I believe. However I think the good boxes had the oil filler plug on the opposite side. I can't recall which side for which but definately the 240z box has the oil plug on one side and the 280zx 240k box has it on the other. The early type gearbox for the 240z as found in the 2000 Roadster has also got the good ratio's but requires a different drive shaft. It also has a different gear level I believe it's dead straight.
  22. Well this sorta confirms what I was saying about little gains on a lightly modded engine. Check out this post on classiczcars.com http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=173732#post173732 Mind you 120rwkw on a L24 is still pretty good. He does mention that it has more torque and breathe's alot nicer. Brent I would be looking at a 3.9 rear end or 4.11 rear end coupled with a 260z 2 seater box, that will get her moving quick. If you also recurve the distributor you'll be pleasantly suprised. that is if you haven't already. The standard 280zx curve is pretty lazy.
  23. Yes I've read both of those articles, however in all of these articles the engines haven't been making all that much power usually around or less than I will hopefully document the build process of my L28 I'm hoping to make more than 300HP at the flywheel so we will see what happens.
  24. I haven't seen this pages in years but glad it's still up on the web. http://dsoanews.tripod.com/ Basically contains information about the Fairlady Roadsters and Nissan Silvia early Sp311?
  25. Do you know if there is a noise limit for cars on the dyno? I had my car tested at 118 DB at 4200rpm :? Everyone will need ear plugs  .
