Yeah we are hosted overseas simply because of the cost factor. Right now the club is funded by Sulio and I although technically Sulio has been paying the bills. (But I gave you a choke cable if your reading  ). I also do all the development work and manage the site. I have thought about buying a domain name like viczar.com.au and doing a redirect so that we get results in Australia however our name has kinda stuck. To buy a .com.au is also expensive well not too expensive but more than a .com auda who regulate domain registrations in Australia also require that we register as a company(additonal costs) or we can be a not for profit organisation in which case we would be an .org.au not as appealing. For now the goal is to conquest google. Yahoo and MSN are sort of taken care of for Datsun 240z and Datsun 260z and other variations(too many to list). The new changes I have been slowly making behind the scenes will also help alot I think. This is one of the main reasons all the othe changes have been taking so long. All this is done when I can be bothered and when im not busy and when I can be bothered to think about the problem at hand. Anyway enough ramblings I just hope everyone enjoys the site and it helps them with their projects and people give me money to finish mine off

Have read this before but it makes a whole lot more sense now that I've been studying building the L31 for my car. http://zhome.com/rnt/3.1HanveyProject.htm I think my set up will be a bit crazier than what this guy did, and it will cost me more.

Actually that's not correct. unfortunately since we are hosted in the US and our domain is a .com we do not appear in sites from Australia under google or msn. Yahoo doesn't require either of those so we appear in pages from Australia. Actually it's funny we got a good result like that because google recently dropped a whole lot of pages that were cached mainly because of some changes to the site. However I've recently made some changes to the site and the new forums will be under http://www.viczcar.com/forums/ if you arn't logged into the site you will see that the forums are now static pages ie forum-12.html instead of viewtopic.php?t=22 etc etc.. I've also made some other nifty changes that will hopefully increase our visibility over the next few months. Stay tuned

I think I will buy a set of the fender mirrors off him. Since I'm after chrome ones and these are brand new . I've seen a few black ones on Ebay from time to time, however second hand ones make me worry that you won't have all the neccessary hardware. I got your email about the Koni's did you get my reply? I sent you the part numbers which from memory was the same as the ones you quoted in your email. If you like I'll send it again.

240z #60 is listed for $20,000 AUD on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/DATSUN-240Z-HS30-1970-Chassis-00060-matching-numbers_W0QQitemZ4627235169QQcategoryZ102220QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I don't want to put down the owner, however I want to know what everyone else's opinion on this is? Keep in mind that in Japan these cars easily fetch alot of coin. I think he's hoping for an international buyer like from Japan or maybe even the US or UK? For someone in the UK it's only really about $10k maybe even less. It looks like it would need a bit of work to be show room presentable though, although i've seen plenty worse.

Evan want a set like these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8034341647&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT We could offer to buy both I think he has 2 sets left and split shipping?

Im not sure how mechanically inclined you are but if your taking this on as a first resto project I'd definately walk away. Dents in the chassis rails arn't uncommon, even my 240z has one on the left hand side which when the time comes I'll straighten out. However I think you might be rushing in a little. What I always go with and would recommend others to is gutt instinct. If it doesn't feel right don't do it. If you still decide to go ahead we are all here to help you along the way.

Looks really fun and sounds very crazy. Love the L-series. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-478365250552316374&q=Datsun&pl=true http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5987653223133500565&q=Datsun&pl=true http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6971902187392269110&q=Datsun&pl=true A Mean stroker video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2382048404444900926&q=Datsun&pl=true There's plenty more under Datsun. I also saw a funny Fast and the Furious spoof.

Here is a good website reference much like zhome but probably a little less US market based. http://www.datsunhistory.com/

haha yeah I agree that they are the worst mod for a Zcar and as I said above that's a topic for another debate. The smoke looked very white/blueish but it was hard to tell with my dodgy cable tv "WINK WINK". A friend with a good foxtel set up taped it for me so I'll see if I can compress it and convert it to be uploaded here. Makes for an interesting watch but alot of crap get's spun that's for sure. Should have kept the old SU's

That's a great looking Z for sure. Only things I'd change is mirrors, bonnet to non fluted and remove headlight covers or replace with chromed band type. (I know expensive) but well worth it in my book.
-
Sorry but unfortunately no. I have looked around but found none. I know someone who might be able to help though. I might send him an email regarding the car. It's very nice in yellow with the Wat's and Gnose I've been considering that on my Z definately a very cool look. Wish I had more angles on it.

One lesson I learnt Evan is you'll always want another car for some reason or another. I still think you got a good deal and the price was fair considering it' originality and condition. The only rust is in the doors and that's relatively easy to fix. From my experience it's much more satisfying fixing up a car to your specification than buying something half cooked. I know your still studying so it's really hard and money is a bitch. Been there done that, now I actually have money but it's a slow process for me too. My engine is taking forever but that's because I want to build a beast. I get tempted to buy other motors like that turbo one recently however i'm trying to stick with the plan.

Well I saw it, not sure what to say really. It was entertaining to see them talk about the Zcar and overall they praised the car. Can't expect them to be accurate with the fine details. This is probably why Alan T (HS30-H) from www.classiczcars.com gets so frustrated. They basically took two 71 Zeds and put a bigger cam in put extractors(headers) on and put a 4 barrel holley on it. You could tell John Morton thought the carbs were a bad idea lol. Don't know why they removed the SU's they would have been better if you ask me. However that's an old debate for another thread. The MSD ignition sounds really good, a worth while investment for any enthusiast. 1/4 mile times were very slow 17 and 19 seconds, probably slower than stock. One was smoking a bit, I guess that happens when you leave the bottom end stock and just slap a cam in. Overall the Zeds came up a treat but yeah it is just a quick TV show so don't take the information as gospel.

FairladyZ (Japanese) 240z tail lights EURO-AU(non US) are on yahoo auctions Japan. I was having a poke around and came across them. Gee they look great but at a price tag of $800 AUD no shipping well need I say more. http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/84985972 With OEM gear attracting prices like this it isn't any great wonder these cars are rising in value. While on the topic does anyone know where you can get the centre piece rechromed? I know where I can get brand new lenses or repo I should say. However it's the centre chrome that really sets these lights off.

I'm very tempted to go Silver since that was the original colour my Zed left the factory with. I've always been partial to the burgundy interior with the Silver Z. It would look especially hot with ZG flares Watanabe's much like www.sr240z.com What was the factory original colour of yours Ben? If it was poo brown forget it lol.

Sulio is selling his other Zed at a bargain price when you compare it with car #60. I honestly would be asking more than what you told me you were thinking of selling the car for Sulio but it's your choice. Being as original as you say and matching numbers all the hard work is done. I'm tempted to buy it myself but don't know where I could put it. However on the flip side it that white one is very early, certainly one of the earliest I've seen on the market for the past 6 years. It would be a shame to see it modified really. Finding a 240z these days for 2-3k is unrealistic unless they are totally rusted out. Then they only become useful for parts. I've even got my original L24 matching numbers for my Z stored away "just incase" I ever change my mind. Keep looking the right car will show up. If your not fussed over original a 74-75 260z 2 seater would probably be a better candidate for an engine swap. Longer chassis rails and slightly more refined to begin with, you can always swap in the 240z rear lights like Sulio did if you are like me and prefer the early tail lights. Best of luck with it all keep looking the right car will come up eventually.

Hey Sulio I think I have one from a 260z 2+2 it should be the same as the 2 seater type.
-
Yep matching numbers engine. The same number as stamped on my compliance plate. I knew it was the same block because I recognised the description as similar to what the previous owner told me about the old L24. The sellers name and location was also a hint. So I emailed him and he said he tried unsuccessfully to contact me and figured I was not interested in the old parts. However I'm glad i got it back for originality sake and for the fact that I can use the L24 rods with the LD28 crank. Although as I said I would like to source a set of L14 spec ones if possible. Last quote I got for those was $700 AUD though.
-
Well I finally got it back my 72 Z's original motor. The original owner had it for sale on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4624378009&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 and I made sure I got it back. Good thing is I can probably use the L24 rods with the LD28 crank but would prefer to use L14 spec rods if I can find any. So if I ever do decide that I would like to make the Z all original I at least have the original block that came with the car.
