FLEXZED early 260z RS30 0001009 RB34 BUILT BY PMC ENGINES
gav240z replied to FLEXZED's topic in Members Project(s) Journal
Looks like a 240K downdraft carb or similar. Probably not doing the car any justice in the performance department. Hope those seats are going the way of the Dodo . Nice car and good honest price for what it is. I'd also recommend fixing mechanical stuff first and body last. At least you can drive it around for a while. -
So you looking for an S30 240z / 260z or S130 280zx? The 280zx had a relatively successful racing career in the US and was often entered in the under 2.5ltr class. They managed to extract around 700HP from a 2.5ltr turbo engine in a 280zx. I think the 2 seater 280zx's were great the early steering rack with circulating ball is not as good as the rack and pinion. Funny thing is the 280zx turbo auto version was quicker than the manual. The 280's can look good and perform well the only problem is many have been neglected now.

Hey mate, Very interested in tail lights and calling dibs on them. Do they have any cracks in them? The most important thing is that the lenses are not badly cracked. Hairline cracks are ok and can be polished out. I'm more concerned with chips or large cracks. Can you send me some close up shots of them? gavindoolan (at) gmail.com. Feel free to PM me.

Hi Everyone, Every so often we get a spam attack on the site. Here is how to identify it and deal with it. What to do The most important thing to do is not comment. Commenting on a spam post just returns the forum thread to the top of latest activity lists. Spammers do not read replies, they simply use automated scripts to add the comment to thousands of websites using the same forum software. Never click on any links. These can lead to non-work safe / family safe material or worse could lead to websites with malware / viruses or install tracker cookies on your browser. The best thing you can do to help myself and the moderators is report the post immediately. See screenshot attached. This fires off an email to myself and the other moderators for our attention. We will delete the topic / poster as soon as possible. You can add a comment to help us with any other information. Also note: Its fine if multiple people report the same post and is far better than replying to the poster. Different Types of Spam Link Spam These users often sign up and post a comment that is very vague / ambiguous. In their forum signature is a link to some kind of website that is usually keyword type link eg: cheap baseball bats or something similar. These spammers do this because sites such as this that are prominent in search results are often rated highly by searched engines such as Google. In order to try and improve their website rankings or appearance in search engines for certain keywords they are trying to add links back to their own / client websites. This form of link spam is a "black hat" search engine optimization technique. Its important we remove these links from the site ASAP as we don't want Auszcar being associated with any such sites. Other Spam Sometimes fake user registrations are all spammers try and achieve. In some cases they post inappropriate pictures or comments. Generally a spammer is someone who ads no value to our site. I delete these users and / or ban them, but its not always possible to properly ban them. Final word. The new content management system I will eventually have the site running on will make use of an anti-spam plugin that uses trends from thousands of websites to identify spam comments before they are even submitted.

Haha just saw this now. I should be more careful the offer was for Grim.Lock. If you bought this Z you got a steal anyway Shouldn't need 20 quid from me .
-
What year is your 240z? It's my understanding those were only fitted to the earlier 1970/71 cars.
-
I would definitely be there if I was in Australia. Make sure you take lots of good photos .
-
Yeah congrats to both Sulio and Nicole. It was Sulio's idea to start Auszcar.com back in the day so we wouldn't be here without him.

I will try taking a look in Brian Long's book tonight. What year is the Fairlady? I'm almost 100% positive that a US flag is not standard.

Cars For Sale (3rd Party Sites) Ebay, Carsales etc..
gav240z replied to gav240z's topic in Cars For Sale
Not a Z but certainly worth a mention. The first Skyline. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Nissan/auction-233492286.htm -
LOL yeah I still have them alright. Lucky to find 12, was thinking if I put them on eBay US the Yanks might go nuts over them, then again they might not even know what they are. How would you wife feel if LD28 cranks started to show up at your doorstep . I was thinking of starting an LD28 import business lmao. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Nissan/Engines/auction-234606504.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Nissan/Engines/auction-235364379.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Holden/Engines/auction-235035198.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Nissan/Engines/auction-235748465.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Holden/auction-233635191.htm

Something tells me that Z is going to be up for sale for a long time at that price. Best of luck to the seller though.
-
Hard pressed finding 1 in Australia for that price. I paid about $800+ landed. Your best bet is to check www.trademe.co.nz and see if someone will swap out the crank of an LD28 diesel the NZ fellas put that engine in everything especially Holden's lol. Problem is I often see lots of auctions for LD28's with the crank already gone. Go figure.

Mike, How easily can you obtain Pre-79 L20A rods in New Zealand? I have 12 L14 rods, but am considering selling them to fund a custom rod set.

Before you blow your uni budget flying halfway up Australia to look at it. Ask him to send you more photos. In particular under the car (you want to see those chassis rails). Also under the battery area in particular they rust like anything here due to battery acid and neglect. Sills are another common spot, floor pans. There is rust in the rear hatch which means the rear tail gate area is probably rust and there is a sunroof in it. Sunroofs are not great because the car has a unibody design meaning that the structural integrity of the car is affected by the sunroof. May or may not bother you. Also the dashboard pic is not good, its probably cracked up good from QLD sun. That alone costs $800 to fix. Overall the car looks ok and well priced but honestly get more photos from the guy first. There are no engine bay pics either.

Hey Ben, Lets get her onto the front page of the site too. We should do it when the magazine article comes out so those who read the article will also find it when they find our website .

welcome I won't say anything about George's socks!

R32 Skyline GTR Anyone? I've noticed in the past 2 years demand for an early Z car has definitely gone up. Prices have also risen alot too. There are still bargains to be had but if a car for sale is posted on the internet there is a good chance most people will see it. If you want a bargain you need to find a car hidden under a tarp or in someone's backyard and knock on their door with an offer to purchase. Either that or find a barn, or stumble across some bloke who has about 50 of them in his backyard lol.

Its not going to be heading out of Australia is it?

How cute, nicknames -
I think you may need to reconsider your options a little. You want a "cheap" good car. Unfortunately the cheap ones are not very good or need lots of love (not just a spray job). There is a nice clean car for sale at the moment owners wants $10K + but it looks clean and respectable. I see you have seen the car I was talking about: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,5463.15.html Think of it this way. If you buy a car (lemon) for $6k you could easily invest another $6k getting it up to a standard close to this car. When it comes to restoration its always cheaper to start with something half decent than take an absolute pig and turn her into a princess. You probably already know this and I'm sure half the forum knows it too, but if you really want a 240z, perhaps you should save a few more pennies and get the right car or a car that's got most originals bits still on it. Original 240z parts can be expensive just ask any of the guys with a thread in the project section of the forum. FWIW I'm still looking for a drivers side mirror for a 240z (the car for sale above has the original mirror), I haven't found 1 yet. You will probably also want to expand your search to include all of Australia (although lots of Zeds are in Victoria). I'll give you $20 towards your project if you buy 1 from NSW or QLD .

Of course you can get similar wheels, but Watanabe's are the original S30 aftermarket choice and were used on many race cars of the period. So you may pay a premium for them by in my opinion its worth spending the money on them. If that's the look you want obviously . Perhaps try asking HS30-H (Alan) he might know. I too want the same size Watanabe wheels for my Z. So if you find out let me know please.

Sorry mate I'm not 100% certain I know what you are saying here? Get over what exactly? Could you elaborate any further?
