  1. Forgot to say welcome to the site too!
  2. They all get these stress cracks I'm not sure what the cure is, maybe someone with more bodywork experience can help? Awesome glad to hear you are saving the old girl. Pics would be awesome too! Common area and common to find replacement panel. There are several shops in Australia that provide rust replacement panels. Check the links section of the forum and recommended business section. Try this: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2516.0.html
  3. Funny this car used to be in Victoria and I used to see it driving around Clayton / Moorabbin areas. It looks different alright. I couldn't chop the top off any Z, 2 seater or 2+2 but if I had to choose I'd probably do it to a 2+2 because you could fit 4 people in there with the roof down and go cruising along the beach. If I recall the owner was asking $10k - $12k when it was sold in Victoria.
  4. Nice work, can't wait to see it in colour. The green should be awesome, especially with the Gold Wat's.
  5. Hey guys I'm adding this to the front page upcomming events. I've put it as the 10th. Let me know if you need to change it.
  6. Minor correction here. Fairlady 240zg's were stamped HS30 but known internally in the factory as HS30-H the suffix -H never appeared on the chassis. The Fairlady 432 was known as PS30 and the Fairlady 432R was again known internally as PS30-SB but the -SB didn't appear on the chassis. I wrote a post about this a while ago: http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/s30-zcar-chassis-prefix.html If anyone wants to make corrections feel free to pass them on. I think Nzeder already has in the past. If the car in question has HS30 on the chassis its a 240z if it has RS30 its a 260z. It has 260z tail lights and a 240z dashboard so big of a mongrel, but then again its a race car so it doesn't really matter.
  7. Good to hear you think this is the place to sell a Zed. For anyone in Australia I would like to think that this is the best place to buy and sell a zed, just Google 'Datsun 240z' or 'Datsun 260z' from Google.com.au and you'll see why. I don't want to lock it down. I would imagine it would be very frustrating to have to login in just to view the for sale section. I actually think forcing people to register could discourage people from registering as oppose to encourage. Yes I know this happens and I see the same trend looking at our Web stats data. I'm actively looking for ways to encourage people to join our website rather than just browse and lurk for ages. There is definitely a snowball effect here, in that the more people who join the more want to join. We have been certainly growing in terms of member numbers very rapidly over the past year when compared with the first couple of years we were around which is positive. So at the end of the day I don't see a reason to change anything, other than to make the site easier to use, less cluttered and more useful to the members.

I see what you mean now. I think in the forum signature the image of your car encourages people to click on your gallery link and view your image. You might start a trend there you know!
  9. Yeah we have to make it easier for visitors to find not harder. Having the latest cars for sale and parts displayed on the homepage of the site would increase their visibility 10 fold. The new site will have something like this. When I finally build the new site that is.
  10. And here I thought you 2 were just giving each other cute nicknames .
  11. Our website stats indicate that there is a large group of people who have not signed into Auszcar.com and are actively monitoring the classifieds section. In fact the number of views of the classifieds section is proportionately higher for those unregistered than those registered. I do wonder how effective Ebay / Carsales etc.. is compared with our classifieds section though.
  12. Unfortunately when selling cars people will say they are serious and even put down a deposit only to back out at the last minute. My thoughts are that possibly some people are put off by the colour, however its far cheaper to start with a good solid base car than it would be to buy a $1000 wreck and try to get it on the road. This car (from the looks of it) represents good value for anyone looking for a 2 seater Zed. At least its still mostly original and unmolested like so many examples.
  13. Here are the pics. Asking $48,000
  14. I did some looking around seems like its these guys: http://www.youtube.com/user/Asitisinheaven http://www.japaneseautocentre.com.au/el/index.php Note the Zed Car they have for sale on their website looks pretty nice.
  15. Guys I don't think you'll find a 432 for that price range. Its simply too cheap, even if it was a wreck it would be too cheap. These guys are simply using Ebay to advertise their business. Don't play into their game and don't call them. That's my opinion. If you want to do anything I'd say report the ad to ebay.
  16. In my opinion the 260z you linked to is not unreasonably priced but for the same money you can probably find a better condition 2+2. I'm always weary of new paint jobs like Steve says but it may not have had much rust before the paint job. If I was looking for a first time restoration project I'd look for an "original" car with limited number of owners (they are an old car and many have changed hands more than 3-4 times). As a general rule of thumb the more owners a car has been through the more likely it is to have many problems associated with it. Take your time and look at as many cars as you can. We often see many cars show up on here or ebay or carsales so you will get a good idea relatively quickly of what your money will get you. You have a daily driver so you shouldn't rush into buying a car either. Definitely avoid cars with serious rust. Superficial areas are ok and to be expected but gapping holes and areas of structural integrity are expensive to fix. The engines are very sturdy and hard to break. So if you find a car with a great body but engine could use a freshen up its still worth considering. Replacement parts and engines still well priced.

Nah I don't mind, I'm wondering though how youj managed to get so many impressions? Are you linking to this page from somewhere else?
  18. Based on those pictures I wouldn't sell it under $8k. I'd have a reserve of at least $12k. That's my opinion anyway.
  19. Check the heater tap. I'd say its more than likely you have a leaking heater and the water has built up at the back on the passenger seat.
  20. How much did it go for? $1600 is damn cheap. If the seller had of listed it here I reakon they would have got double. Congrats to the person who bought it. I think this car may have been from WA originally too.
  21. Have a read of this: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,2516.0.html If you still have trouble let me know.
  22. Awesome really looking forward to it. Hah 2 V8 zeds featured in a row that will make it.
  23. Yes, yes they do! *edit oops linked to wrong Queen video lol...
