  1. That's a breathe of fresh air right there. While its good to have a budget, you should spend the right money for the right car in my opinion. Too many people buy rust buckets expecting to fix it up for nothing, but in reality they are 20k in and still not done, when they could have spent another 5-6k on top of their original price and bought something alot more decent with a lot less work needed. A warning though, finding a stock clean original Z with minimal rust is quite difficult. If you want to play with NA carbs especially Z ones, I suggest buying the www.ztherapy.com videos on tuning SU carbs. I just received my copy last night, haven't finished watching it yet, but already I've seen so many little things that make a huge difference to how they can perform. It does make you realise how antique they are though. Kind of like an old watch. I've personally seen how well SU's can perform on an NA stroker Z and I was surprised to say the least.

Nice, I like the colour and wheels. Cool 2+2.
  3. I'd low ball an offer of $500, its mostly complete which is a plus, but the rust is what kills it. I wouldn't pay more than $1,500 though. You are looking at minimum 20K to fix her up, much more if you want concourse condition. It needs total strip down and rebuild, you will find plenty more rust. As much as I'd like to see a Z saved, save yourself a headache and keep looking if you want to be driving a 240z within the next couple of years. If the 260z is a 2 seater then the only major difference is the dashboard, tail lights and badges. Hope she gets saved either way. I also hope he doesn't think he can grow more in the backyard. The chances of it being a genuine Gnose and not a Fibreglass copy are pretty rare. You can easily get a Gnose fibreglass copy, the real deal on the other hand, well they would be worth a pretty penny.
  4. Welcome, not sure I could condone pink. However if you look after it that's the main thing. I'm sure your father would want you to enjoy it as much as he did. Let's try not to scare this 1 away this time lol .
  5. Now that's something worth putting on the front page .
  6. We need an asking price, pictures of the worst rust spots, interior, engine bay to determine what its really worth. Some owners are dreaming with the value of an early Z. Others are much more reasonable, but usually by looking at a few detail shots we can assess what's missing, what needs to be done and what your likely to be up against. As Sulio said and I can't stress this point enough, find 1 with as little rust as possible. Mechanical work is relatively easy and straight forward and in reality not that expensive, however body work is where you will invest a large portion of your money.
  7. Dale I'm loving your Mustard Yellow (Safari Gold) 240z. Any chance you would be interested in having her on the homepage? @Technoz - I saw this car a few years back at the Nationals in Shepparton looked amazing. Obviously still does, would be great to see more of this car in future.
  8. Also in Japan they were sold as a Fairlady 280z - no X . However if it is prefixed HS130 its a 280zx . Interested in what head is on the engine? I assume N42? You can find out by looking just above the #1 spark plug.

  10. With Noise restriction rules like that I'll be in the slammer overnight. I had to get it tested for RWC when I first purchased it. My L28 240z with 2 hot dogs and straight pipes registered and a kid you not! 119 dB at 4200rpm. I've had her at 8000rpm before lol. It was loud enough for the guy with the dB meter to exclaim "sh!t that's loud". I thought if not legal on the road, at least at the track! Guess I'm wrong. Sounds like Australia is turning into George Orwell's 1984, Big Brother is watching you!
  11. The 2 good things about this photo are: 1. The fact you are in the Z wearing that mask. 2. The VB hat But it begs the questions. 1. Where did you get it? 2. Why did you get it?

  13. I'm willing to bet the killer is Sulio (Toecutter), he later imported the 260z into Australia converted it to RHD and changed the tail lights to 240z type, fitted the overfenders and ROH rims to avoid detection. Oh and he got married, the perfect alibi lol...
  14. I know I was bidding on them. I wasn't happy missed out by $1, but I shouldn't have bought them anyway. I just bought 4 off a guy but he can't find the 4th 1 yet. Hope he does. I plan to get them professionally polished and cleaned up. They are getting harder to find.
  15. We now have a form where you can submit the details of your ride to be included on our homepage as a member ride of the month. http://www.viczcar.com/node/add/member-ride It is still very much in testing and will likely undergo some changes to improve it and make it easier. However its far better than what we had before. Let me know if you submit an article / have problems.
  16. We all remember the infamous Yellow Pages commerical from Yesteryear, well while looking at it, good ol' youtubey showed a related video for a crazy (German / Austrian?) who put a radial engine in 1. Original Commercial if you were hiding under a rock in the 90's. The crazy Goggomobil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TIdQFnUvCA User's channel on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/dwerke Look at his in all his gear lol.
  17. Should be back on homepage now Chris .
  18. Reminder its on soon. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,5857.0.html

    SU Carbs

They are definitely not 240z Hitachi, also note how they mount up to the intake manifold. It looks like they might be a little smaller in diammeter, than needed for engine size (restricting performance?)
  20. I have to say I've never been a fan of spacers at all. I've also heard they aren't legal in Victoria so as Sulio says, get custom made wheels that fit properly.
  21. That seems well priced to me to be quite frank. I paid close to $1200 AU for Triple 44 Mikuni's that I have no idea what condition they are really in as I've not pulled them apart.
  22. Bump, hopefully this will bring it back to the front page.
  23. Pretty impressive stuff guys. I'm thinking we need an Auszcar online store so when parts like this are available you can easily sell them through the club store to anyone anywhere in the world.
  24. Looks great, really compliments the Gnose look.
  25. edit*** Just noticed you registered .
