Hey guys,
I'm well aware that winding the clocks back is as old as time in the used car business, and I'm also aware that the odometer reading on most old Nissan's like the 240z is not really a big deal. However if someone is going to do that sort of thing, I'd be very wary about what else they are willing to do or hide on such vehicles.
So if anyone is looking to buy a classic Zed or any other historic Nissan for example through an importer - as you guys said. Caveat emptor.
I figure I would post this to warn others who may be interested in finding their dream vehicle and are a little more green in this area than the more experienced amongst us (which seems to be all those who replied above).
I agree interior condition is a good indicator of how many km's have been travelled, but I have also recently seen efforts to hide wear and tear through the purchase of new steering wheels, seat covers, gear knobs etc..
So always do due diligence and I can't stress this enough, don't get caught up in the emotional side of buying your dream car. I know it's easier said than done, but often a moment of clarity like speaking to another member, asking the forum etc.. can be good advice. Of course sometimes you can miss a great deal also if you hesitate.
