  1. I don't know if you've spent time restoring this already? But the feedback I've had from Ron regarding the Niles clock is that they are not the best. This is what he basically said. In my opinion the best clock in terms of reliability and price is the Calendar Clock. Very quiet and no failure prone oscillator. I also prefer the look of the earlier clocks to the later Niles unit. I've seen the Niles ones cheap on Yahoo! Auctions and was tempted to buy 1, but not anymore .
  2. Haha, at least it won't have the 1M price tag.
  3. http://www.executivestyle.com.au/cars-that-will-make-money-for-you-ggwdei Maybe they are. Don't really want to blow a bubble around S30z prices... So everyone get in on starions !
  4. Yeah but without the narcissism and selfies.
  5. 260z 5 speed knob. ~$200 AU before shipping or broker fees. http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/d168285281 I sold a couple of these recently. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=15731.0 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=14947.0 Should have asked more!
  6. Coming soon to a forum near you!
  7. So it would seem that early cars didn't have a typical structure to when they received these covers. Some got it some didn't. Which is probably similar to the way engine's and their engine numbers were assigned to cars.
  8. Well I'm careful when saying if something like that is not worth x amount because I've not had to look for a '260z' rear hatch and honestly don't see them for sale often. But yes I wanted to give people a heads up so they don't get burnt buying something that isn't suitable for their needs and from my own experience with hatch repair I think you'll find some hidden stuff under that paint.
  9. So the blue interior made you think the previous owner was weird, but the tiger pattern felt stuck to the roof lining and the doors was totally acceptable?
  10. I think the car you're referring to is this? http://museumvictoria.com.au/collections/items/800697/negative-datsun-240z-japanese-woman-melbourne-international-motor-show-5-mar-1971 Not sure if you saw it in the other thread? From here: http://www.rallysportmag.com.au/home/arc/8387-2014-australian-rallying-hall-of-fame-inductees Dave Hogan who ran DatZed is also a member here (Username: The Original DATZED) http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14500.45.html When I first saw that photo above, I wondered if that car still existed. Good to know she's still around. I think most of us have a story about a S30z we regret selling. I certainly do..
  11. Looks like we somewhat discussed this before. Nissan Super 6's had these covers also, so perhaps that is also a reason we see them on later cars?
  12. Mikuni's are more expensive, depending on size. You could easily sink a lot of coin into refurbishing them.. So buy the best set you can get.
  13. 260z 2 seater rear hatch. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/southport/auto-body-parts/datsun-240z-rear-hatch/1079674694 It's listed as 240z but the hinge points are closer together (240z is wider apart) and the lower portion of the inside of the hatch looks different. Also has 2 gas strut mounting points... From the look of it, it's in rough shape. I'd expect to find bog when sand blasting it. Make your offer accordingly.
  14. Thanks Enright, for the longest time I didn't actually think our cars received this cover. I thought any that were around were imported from the US. But good to hear several cars have had it that were early.
  15. Hard to say because I like both, I think it's good to see the JDM grille simply because it's a rare sight. I think the chrome trim headlight covers would make it look even better, just a shame they are so expensive.
  16. Ahh yes but first 50 being up to what number? Because #84 has it and if #160 had it how do we determine the cut off point? I think part of the problem will be that the engines fitted to these cars were not in sequence with the chassis numbers. So it's possible that say #149 #150 and #151 didn't have it, but #160 did as mentioned above. I was speaking to someone who has a couple of these and is looking to sell them, hence the question as I was wondering if my car should have 1.
  17. Yeah I suspect someone would have removed mine when going to 2.8 litres because 2400cc would have been uncool at the time.
  18. Thanks Benny, I would say I agree. I tried to zoom in on the image with little success. Dale - I suspect cars under #100 had it and those over didn't but it's pure speculation at this stage. By the way what happened to #36?
  19. Hi Guys, So I have been wondering this for a while now, my car HS30 00150 doesn't have the 2400 CC valve cover, but I've noticed other early AU delivered 240z's do. Unfortunately good reference photos are hard to find. #84 did have the cover. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/43825-my-1970-240z-hs30-00084/ The best photo I have of #151 and I really can't tell... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,13624.msg143239.html#msg143239 Lurch's car #149 doesn't have it. But it could well have been changed, since a lot was changed on the engine. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,7104.0.html So I'm wondering does anyone with an early 240z in the build range over 100 have this cover on their engine?
  20. Not sure if new owner is a member here.
  21. https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/SC0515-213475/0/1971-Datsun-240Z/5-Speed/ Sold for $52K USD last week. Non numbers matching car (L28), blue on blue colour combo. Other subtle mods. No flares , 260z/280z clock etc..
  22. Not sure what the feeding frenzy is on JDM headlight covers lately? http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u78472797 But someone must really want a set... ~171,000 YEN. Surely someone could reproduce these for a better rate than that?
  23. Hi Everyone, A family friend was contacted about this festival they ran last year and will be running again this year. They are looking for unique cars to include in the car show part of the festival. 24. HLS3000087 This is an old listing (2012) http://www.datsunclassifieds.com/autos/datsun/240z/1970-240z-serial-00087-13-000.00-2974.html Asking price was $13.000 - not sure if it sold or not.
  25. Someone was giving 1 of these the beans the other day when I was walking the dog, honestly sounded like a Skyline with the straight 6. I was surprised to see a Taxi like shape. Although a Skyline could be a taxi also haha. I must say though, can't stand the look of modern Fords, but as a daily hack great! They remind me of VL Turbo's.
