  1. @Hodgo, I can help you reset your password, rather than start a new account? Send me a PM to get it sorted.
  2. Only commenting to subscribe to the thread, since I'd like to know also!
  3. Is it an OEM rear bumper? Interesting that the rubber strip runs all the way along it. That was how the 240ZGs were... Does it still have the holes for overridders? Assuming it is an OEM rear bar?
  4. The problem with the ITG filter is where do you put the oil breather hose? I guess you require an oil catch can then? Most S30z's in Japan appear to run Triples. Not many on the stock SU's. My guess is that conventional wisdom there is that Triples are the way to go. Especially with a warm L-series. Nissan was looking at offering the Triples as standard fitment to the 240z but the pin was pulled on the idea. I guess bean counters and emission rules are partly to blame. Would have been great if they did it like on the Fairlady Z432. Nissan or Prince offered to Skyline GTBs here in the 60s with Triple Carbs and LSD + large fuel tank as standard.
  5. About $800+ each..
  6. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1976/SSE-AD-3713797/?Cr=2 260z coupe asking $17k
  7. The CR gearbox and 4.3 diff must make a huge difference surely?
  8. From the rumblings on this forum I believe #16 is far from original these days and powered by an RB26 used as a track car. A couple of members on here previously owned the car when it was in NZ.
  9. So here is a couple of other early 240z's. 71 240z - I don't know the VIN on this 1. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=166961 10/71 complied 240z. HS30 01428 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/1924-cars-for-sale-3rd-party-sites-ebay-carsales-etc/?p=152384 NB: It still has the twin choke/hand throttle set up. That is the highest number (HS30 car) I know of with that set up so far... It looks like it was originally 918 Kalahari Tan.
  10. Awesome I'll update these shortly, that orange / gold colour is it 918 or 920 originally? Hard to tell. Man she looks a bit rusty though Interesting the seats with the red inserts, my 72 has similar retrimming and I know another car early 907 green that had green inserts. Seems there was an auto-trimmer doing that style back in the day who must have done several S30z's like that.
  11. My experience with SUs on my 72 240z is not that great. I have great low down torque but she is definitely leaning out at higher RPM. I have decided to do something with my Triple Mikuni 44s and will likely put them on my 72 240z. The only reason I haven't yet is due to lack of a good air box for Triples.
  12. Did you confirm what the calipers were? Toyota Hilux ones usually have S12 or S12W on them from memory and weight a ton. The MK63s should have that casting stamp in them. If the quarter windows are not taken I would be interested in them. Look at me, just got rid of stuff now hoarding again .
  13. If you transfer your 240z into my name, I will get your cheap classic registration in Victoria for you. Vellllyyyy Cheap Rego for you... Actually my 72 240z is registered in my name, my mailing address is in NSW but the vehicle garaged location is in Victoria (parents house). I guess it depends on how creative you wanna get? Got any relatives in Victoria? The real problem is if you get pulled over, you need to fill in the log book each time you drive. I'm not sure how kindly interstate 5-0 will take to you using Club Rego from Victoria in Canberra? I really wish that we had 1 set of Vehicle Registration Authority in this country, the different rules, processes and bureaucracy between them is just a waste of tax payer funds and duplication of effort. Too many cushy public sector jobs I suppose (not that you'd know anything about that in the ACT haha)... Why would they want things to change?
  14. The build is exciting because of all the possibilities and decisions to make and how it will impact the overall product. Myself personally I'm interested in the early cars and a lot of the early accessories. As an era of car design I think the 60s had the most interesting organic lines, the early S30z's represent the end of that golden era for me. Before everything started to become plastic. Before strict emission controls and safety features which tainted performance and design aesthetics. Anyway if you want an early build 240z it's going to be tough, you've seen the early girl bingo thread and we now have a better idea of what's left. Most of it is projects that looks a few years from completion at best. HS30 cars up to build #500 had the vents in the rear, so it was only 1970 year cars that had the vents in the hatch. It can't hurt to put feelers out there but as you know it's often who you know that results in getting priority option to buy when such cars come up for sale. You could argue that I was passively searching for ~15 years before I found #150. In that time I've seen only a handful of cars for sale with a lower build number. (Maybe more than 5 less than 10). So when one comes up you just gotta take the plunge. That's what I did. No regrets.
  15. Call Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares he and a couple of friends have started a club called Classic JDM. I'm a low VIN member #9 LOL..
  16. Yep, you're officially nuts. Welcome home. . If anyone understands "something about the early cars with vents in the rear hatch" it's me. But perhaps drive your newly restored car first? There will be plenty of bugs to iron out... I'm sure you'll appreciate this though, I was out and about today and visited Ashley at Moorabbin Auto Spares. On the way home an R35 GTR was following me, checking out the S30z. The GTR looked like a big fridge (it was white with very straight lines) compared to the S30z I do miss driving my 72 240z, definitely the kind of car that grabs attention from all age groups.
  17. You want stuff called Anti Flutter Foam. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3202-tutorial-door-skin-removal-for-dummies/?p=147970 https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/yK_3eNEvEybJqvejIV9gVFitS8r152G_nPF0nyboUBuG=w596-h795-no I'm pretty sure it goes "off" so you may need to ask for it to be ordered in...Limited shelf life and all that.
  18. If you're gonna give her the chop I'm interested in rear quarter panels. I'll be back in Sydney next week.
  19. I guess... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-nissan-fairlady-z-240z-260z-280z-RH-DRIVE-gas-pedal-assembly-/201498902776
  20. That's what she said.
  21. Sold and sent on it's way to WA.
  22. Well the valve train stuff like retainers, lash pads, rocker arms, springs etc.. are probably worth $250 on their own. I'm not sure if the rocker arms are Nissan made or not? Hard to tell...I compared them with some old ones I have in my box of tricks but the casting marks were different. Of course the valve train stuff is to suit the camshaft so not sure how useful it will be with a different camshaft profile. Apparently you can get the stock rockers resurfaced and with the camshaft profiles I'm using I won't be needing any of this stuff. My new years resolution is to either use the stuff I have or have it go to a good home. Of course there is a fine line between having spares and having too much crap haha. .
  23. Since we were chatting about unrestored cars recently. https://www.hagerty.com/yourstories/2015/11/29/all-in-the-family-unrestored-240z20151129112335 Very well preserved early 240z in Safari Gold.
  24. Thanks mate, any chance the current owner would share a photo or 2? I'm sure I'm not the only 1 curious about the old girl and what she looked like? I'm wondering what mirrors it had and other minor details like fender / blinkers / repeaters etc..? I do wonder what George's car HS30 00019 was used for? Was it also a promotional / dealer demo car? I suspect all the low VIN #'s were...
  25. Thanks guys, i didn't get down to Bunnings in the end. So I stole some excess tubing from some spares I had. This stuff goes hard over time, but doesn't seem to get brittle, just goes from clear to yellow. So for now it works fine but will have to get a roll of it and redo the lot on my S30z's at some point.
