  1. It's the engine number Vicroads has on record. So it must not be the original engine that was fitted to the car. My mistake.
  2. I found that Jack's car is HS30 00314 and original engine number was: L24179183 It now has an L28 Turbo in it. http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&title=Yella-Delight&A=108383
  3. I can't make it fellas, sorry. I would have liked to be there but got other commitments I'm afraid.
  4. Hitachi Radio. http://www.ebay.com/itm/152063500184 TM-701RB This is listed as a Datsun 620 radio, but looks very very similar to the radio I have in my 72 240z which is a Fairlady Z-S radio (top radio). Buy it now: US $194.25 Just stick a reproduction faceplate on her and bob's your tea pot! it looks like this version has the 620 Faceplate on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/73-74-75-76-Datsun-620-Truck-OEM-Hitachi-All-Transistor-AM-Radio-TM-701RB-/301899967724
  5. If you do a search on that website search for both 240z and 260z separately. http://autopics.com.au/ There is a few more photos of cars being raced in period in Australia. There was a couple of Len Brennan's car, I wonder if he's seen them all? I always assumed Len's car was a 1970 model, but realised from this photo. http://autopics.com.au/72404-l-brennan-datsun-240z-calder-1972/ 72404 - L. Brennan - Datsun 240Z - Calder 1972 There is no vents in the rear hatch! So perhaps his car was 1 of the later 71 models with the Blue interior we already know about? That would be a cool find. Sadly Len doesn't know what number it was. He muttered something about an ex-wife throwing stuff out... > I also did a search for RX-7 and found some cool photos of early RX-7's in some cool livery. The ghost busters car is interesting to say the least. http://autopics.com.au/84771-g-moore-p-mckay-mazda-rx7-bathurst-1984-photographer-lance-ruting/
  6. It had its appeal alright, at the end of the day it only takes 1 person to be interested. I think the problem with modified cars like that is you drastically narrow the scope of interested buyers with any customisation. It would be hard to build a similar car for that money. Still eBay auction ending doesn't always mean the deal is sealed.
  7. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-Coupe-/262392548008 HLS30 11682 L24-015908 Looks like it just ended, buy it now was $24K USD which to me seemed very reasonable. There was a few details that were a little bit short cut looking but overall if you bought it with the intention of keeping it a while it would make a reasonable investment in my opinion. As a side note it is interesting that it has the 2400 Valve cover, given that I believe HS30 000150 (Eng. No. L24-015253) would have been built around a similar timeframe (compare L24 no's.) to this car (perhaps even a little earlier) and yet, didn't have the 2400 cover.
  8. Pretty sure they are the same side regardless of LHD / RHD. The early S30Z rear 1/4 panels have a cut out where the rear bumper goes (and obviously very early ones are solid with no hole behind the 1/4 badge 1970 models in Australia), but later S30Z's like 76-78 year cars had a solid flat panel where the rear bumper goes. This can be worked around obviously but is additional work.

  13. This could have been TKS 33 SA 8075. Look for the 0:47 second mark. Edit later footage reveals it is 8075! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRQJEjBAw6M
  14. A nice 72 240z here. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/55303-1972-240z/ Asking: $26,000.00
  15. Overall it looks like you got a good deal on that, most of the hard to find stuff is still with it. Hopefully the body is good underneath!
  16. Hey guys, I spoke with them a while ago also, but didn't try convince them to make reproduction panels. I definitely think rear 1/4 panels are needed. Roof turrets and radiator supports would go a long way. What I wouldn't have given for a early rear hatch or even a good later hatch reproduction I could cut the holes into. 2+2 stuff is also hard to get now, but not sure about how much demand there is?
  17. Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't sure if current specification would be something we wanted to track. I was a little apprehensive of making the form too long and causing people to give up on filling the details in. But it would be good to record these details to see what is original vs modified. Similar to Peter's suggestion, the first 2 are fine. With regard to S130's, I will consider this if there is enough demand. However I didn't include it for a few of reasons: a.) My knowledge of S130's is limited. b.) I'm not sure how much demand there will be yet. c.) I wanted to make sure it was working well for the earlier cars first, then could be expanded to cover later cars. At least that was my line of thought.
  18. It probably made sense at the time he wrote it but I don't understand any of it either. I suspect that's why your painter was laughing also.
  19. Alan, is this the guy who does the custom silkscreening and re-jigs of existing instruments? http://www.ks-sp.co.jp/yonrin_nissan/z_s30.htm
  20. Yeah the general consensus is that the paint colour isn't going to be easy to match when looking at parts that are now 45+ years old and expecting the paint to look like it did from factory. Have a look at the post I made here: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11264-safari-brown-i-mean-gold-the-nsw-project/?p=175177 Check out the difference in colour between the rear garnish set and the hubcaps. Nevermind the socks! I just got home from a long flight and didn't want to wear shoes anymore when I took the photo. . However I believe the rear garnish is closer to the 'correct' colour. But generally speaking I'd eye ball it and maybe test a few different options to see which you like most.
  21. Thanks Ian, this is where I will run into issues with Google Forms, I don't have a great way of making form fields dependent on each other or only visible when you select say HS30 as your chassis prefix. We already have 307 Metallic Blue but it's under 74+ colours. I will do some more research into how I can configure the form and maybe come up with a better solution. Ideally I want this form to work, not just for 240z's, but also 260z and 2+2's etc..
  22. Ben, All panels are the same between different markets. The main differences are in the firewall for RHD / LHD. The year of car can make a big difference to things like doors etc.. That's where you can get tripped up.
  23. Not long ago people were balking at that price, it's a LHD car though and that also seems to put a cap on prices (HLS30's).
  24. Suddenly feel some OCD kicking in. http://www.zeddsaver.com/products/copy-of-oem-datsun-260z-280z-am-fm-radio http://www.zeddsaver.com/products/datsun-240z-260z-280z-radiator-coolant-decal
  25. Thanks for the scan of the user manual for the hitachi radio. I've split it and put it in this thread. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14572-oem-hitachi-radio-manuals-eg-tm-1081zb-user-and-repair-manuals/ To keep it all in 1 place, appreciate you taking the time to copy it.
