Certainly looks like the same car. I recall that car was listed and removed before I could even capture photos of it. -

No idea how old this listing is, but at current price it seems a bargain even if LHD. The other 240z was HS30 01280 and it was a 71 sold to a guy in Victoria who is a member here. I can't recall if it sold for 18k or not? There was another white 1 on Facebook a 72 but different chassis ID again. -

Sounds like an interesting chat. I now understand why there is so many people movers being sold through Dealers on Parramatta Rd though! -

Well different eBay seller IDs, it could still be the same seller. I'm almost sure I saw a Datsun 240k coupe sold out of a similar looking garage a while ago. I can't find that listing now though. -

I'm pretty sure the same seller recently sold a Honda S600. Might be flipping a few old cars. *Edit, sorry #fakenews. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/S600-Honda-Convertible-Corolla-conversion-motor-racecar-2-seater-/262784543385?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=DUkczid6qD99xSXa31jC5QwrZJU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Garages look remarkably similar however! -
I thought it was worth sharing here. http://www.ironchefimports.com/2016/10/28/revised-sevs-criteria-thresholds-part-1/ http://www.ironchefimports.com/2016/11/01/revised-sevs-criteria-thresholds-part-2/ If you can be bothered reading it all. The 25 year rule is going to make certain marques much more expensive when you consider you'll be competing with North American's on them. Think R32 GTRs etc.. I know in Japan finding a good condition older model FD RX-7 is getting very hard right now. I was thinking that relaxation of the rules would see a decline in their values over here. But this new legislation looks set to only increase their values! I just don't understand how they can get this policy so backwards, considering we have no car industry to protect anymore, but then again it's Canberra, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised?

Yeah we posted it earlier on. Lynton's old car. Did you inspect it? Where is the rust? -

Anyone with an S20 engine looking for original carbs? http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n199366980 -
I was warned they were not very comfortable before buying them. I will have to wait and see for myself. I still haven't unpacked them.
-
I ordered 1 of these from ZcarDepot and have to say I'm happy with it. It's not 3D but it's a good reproduction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgv4j-lrdDI

I'll give it another few days, then I'll consider listing on eBay. If no interest I might try repair a couple and see how they turn out.

I haven't looked to be honest. I've somehow managed to maintain the original material in my 72 for now. I'm not yet at the stage on the 70 where I need to look at this. It depends on how "original" you want to go. Some might be ok with other material. I like the original stuff.
-
It's called "Jute" material. http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/393386-jute-padding-heat-barrier-noise-reduction-240z-floors.html http://www.stockinteriors.com/items.asp?MakeId=38&ModelId=313&MainCatId=3&Desc=Datsun_240Z_Padding http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/8002-original-jute-material/

Very cool, never thought of going to a Trophy store! I'm sure you could sell these, member "Taylor" made a few also a while ago and I got a couple from him.

Some updates, cut the bent distorted section out and have "tacked" in the new piece (ignore the flash rust). Going to offer it up to the car and see how it sits before committing to welding in permanently. I've had quite a lot of help from Charlie my course instructor due to a number of issues I've encountered. It might look like a simple piece but it's deceptively difficult.

The previous owner Tony Barber who had my 240z, he had the twin exhaust done. I am not sure who did it, but when I quizzed Lindsay Drife at Z-shop he said a Mick at Clayton Exhaust used to do work for them (now deceased I'm afraid). It's quite well done (the rear portion anyway). When I first saw the car, I said to the owner the exhaust system was like the works rally cars. He then told me that a few people had looked at the car and didn't really know what they were looking at. From that point I think he was happy to sell the car to me, sensed I was pretty passionate about the cars I guess. So yes, it was a bit of a tribute to the works rally cars. I have since added the Rally Clock and may go further with it toward a works style car. Would love to find a sports option tach. and I love the modified gauges. I might already have a set of these.. and Kobe Seiko Rally Mag's well I'd love a set. But $$$.

In fairness I'd love to have those broken images back, I was reading it recently and trying to make sense of it myself. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/518-240z-260z-wheeltyre-options-offset-backspace/ If anyone has some good images we can use for reference please let me know and I can edit Sulio's (toecutter) original post.

Ashtray #4 This has already been repaired, the left hand side has a minor crack. The lid spring is with it, but it's broken a bit (so short) and will need replacing anyway. Price: $170 + postage Ashtray #5 The gem LOL, no really quite rough. It's got some metal plate "riveted" on it, which is sort of holding it together. Good for spares I guess? I'm guessing for what it's worth, it's not worth a trip to the post office. Humor me with an offer? Or maybe you've got something equally broken to trade? May accept a spare lid spring in exchange (I'm missing 1). Price: $offers

I'm just going to prefix this and say replacements lids are available here: http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/6337398 There was an attempt to make reproduction whole trays - but as you can see they look like a dogs breakfast. See here and here. First up is: Ashtray #1 This ashtray has broken (quite cleanly) between the top cover part and the lower part. If you have a repair method in mind, I'd say this would be a good ashtray since you can hardly tell when you put them together. As hopefully the photos show. Asking price: $85 + postage. Ashtray #2 This ashtray has been previously repaired in the top right corner. It's a very minor crack. Which could use a better adhesive to fix it and neaten it up. The gunk on it is from a vinyl glue which was on it. It does come off. Asking price: $150 + postage. Ashtray #3 Hopefully the photos do all the talking, cracked shell and lid. It could be repaired, but will require a bit of skill with a dremel I think. Asking price: $50 + postage.

I reckon that GTR was a bargain personally. I should have bought it, taken my house deposit and put it all on black. Makes more sense than Aussie Real Estate at this stage to me.

Chicken and Egg isn't it? There is only enough demand to drive the price of what's left up. But once reproductions exist prices will fall. In the case of early Ashtray's you can reproduction lids, but not the outer surround. Prices have remained elevated as a result. There was a reproduction ashtray I saw, but the quality looked poor compared to OEM. With regard to Rally Clock's it's much cheaper to buy and restore a clock with an oscillator box than to build an oscillator box to suit. We've just done it and it's more expensive. Reproduction early Tail lamps also exist and look good, but the original KOITO stamped ones still fetch Premium prices. I'm just glad that reproduction parts do exist. -
