  1. I could just never get there with the 350z/370z styling, for me the FD RX-7 is more like the Spirit of the original S30Z. Light weight, drop dead gorgeous styling, great dashboard design, 2 seater (in most cases), strong competitor for the Porsche's of the same era. I guess that's why I own 1, and not a 350z/370z. I would like to drive 1, but the 350z looks so dated today. 370z is nicer but not fond of the front lamps and it's a bit fat looking on certain angles.
  2. Before you do that, let me know! I may need spares.
  3. I have a pair of those, good for 40mm carbs. That eBay seller deals a lot in Mikuni's I believe they have a website. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClHMvCcDDaBXz9TMsu4MXiw http://www.gl2007.com/usa_kyusha.html Sadly deleted a bunch of their videos on Youtube. I used to like going there and listening to an L-series scream!
  4. So I think this car is running a reproduction hood. https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/AM17/Amelia-Island/lots/r169-1970-nissan-fairlady-z-432/418110 There is a few subtle queues that I believe are different from the original OEM ones. But I might keep those to myself for now. It's hard to pick, but I can just about tell...
  5. Yes, but how so? It sits high at the rear currently and a little too far back. I see evidence that a few things were tweaked on the car previously from the minor front-end love nudge.
  6. In my opinion the Z died with the S130Z in 1978... every incarnation since then has been nothing like the original. Nissan needs to refer to Mazda's MX-5 as proof that a well priced, well built sports car that is bare bones and basic will sell like hot cakes. And for god sake, stop making Fairlady Z's Fatlady's....
  7. Found a NOS door skin (driver side), that will likely be used in this restoration, since the rare spares ones don't quite fit right (in terms of panel gaps) without significant re-working. Just a bit of surface rust.
  8. Good price, I would have if I could have.
  9. They look like 44s to me. Send me a PM to let me know what price you have in mind. I've got no interest in the redline manifold however.
  10. So bit of an update. First update: 1. I went a bit quiet as I was planning to buy my first house/home but unfortunately that deal fell through. I was not able to spare the capital to import panels and buy a house but now that deals fallen through I should be able to get this happening again. 2. The company I use to freight stuff from the US to Australia has moved their Warehouse from Washington State, down to LA (Compton) - since LA is littered with S30Z stuff this should make life easier! 3. I recently imported a bonnet from Japan - I thought it was NOS based on the Yahoo! Auction photos, but turns out it's a reproduction bonnet. (photos below). 4. When I collected the bonnet from the importer I discussed importing more panels out of Japan (they deal with Supra stuff a lot and more modern stuff / new panels) but can help with S30Z stuff. It should cut out a few middle-men in the proces and make it cheaper! On the topic of reproduction hoods, I haven't been able to easily get it to align (anymore than the original repaired 1) it seems 'ok' but there is definitely some variance in the pressings compared to OEM, I've taken photos to try and help illustrate them.
  11. Ok found these. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3204-rs30-chassis-dimension-plans/ http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/3204-rs30-chassis-dimension-plans/?p=32117 http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/33933-chassis-and-body-dimensions-for-us-240z-available/ http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/47601-z-virtual-tape-measure/ http://www.vord.net/cars/240z/chassis-jig.htm http://www.vord.net/cars/240z/240Z-chassis-jig.pdf http://www.xenonzcar.com/s30/fsm.html http://xenonzcar.com/s30/files/1971%20FSM%20Supplement.pdf
  12. Hi Folks, Does anyone know of any documentation that has datum points of reference for measuring "trueness" of a chassis? I am having difficulty with bonnet alignment on my Safari Gold car and I bought a reproduction bonnet - which looks good but I still don't think I can easily get to fit without possibly "tweaking" it. I'm looking to get a plumb bob and use this to make sure the car is true.
  13. It's 1 of the most satisfying modifications to do to an AU market 240z!
  14. That picture Alan posted above got me thinking about this old thread. http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/11743-1970-engine/
  15. Yeah lovely work, something to aspire to.
  16. What year is this 240z? ZG conversion sounds great. I think Ledge need to take me on as an apprentice, but I'm not a jedi yet!
  17. Think it was listed a while ago (maybe a year or 2 ago).
  18. Rule#1 don't tell anyone you're bidding and bidding to win! Best to keep it to yourself. .
  19. Awesome probably from a 73 model. I'd have to check my database though to be sure.
  20. I'm not sure with Dellorto's but with Mikuni's you can choke them down. Better to go big and make em smaller than go small and try and make em' bigger.
  21. Alan Thomas clarified that spare blocks from Nissan came without a stamp for engine number. So it's definitely NOS.
  22. Grease Monkey Garage does a 280z 2+2 and to be honest for a modified S30Z and a 2+2 it's quite nice! https://www.drivingline.com/articles/fair-lady-gas-monkey-garage-x-big-mike-datsun-z/
  23. A good roof, around $1000+ if it's rust free and mint. A rough 1, well I was going to ask around $500 or so for this 1 because it's had some repair work (will need light skim of filler) and will need a little repair on the edges (which is less likely to be a warpage issue than if it was in the middle). Give me a day or 2 to take photos of it and come back to you. I also wanted to make sure my other roof was good upon arrival before listing it for sale. Feel free to bump it again in a couple of days if I forget..
