Administrators gav240z Posted May 23, 2008 Administrators Posted May 23, 2008 Found this on Trademe.co.nz. Top notch looking car, I'd say worth every NZ$ you spend. For those looking at a great early Z this might be the car for you. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Other/auction-156335203.htm Your chance to own a true classic Zud Bro! Quote
NZeder Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 This car used to be owned and was restored by a Nissan Dealer about 10 years ago - only travelled a few 1000 miles since. A good purchase for someone. Zed here are going up and up which is good if you own one, not so good if you are looking to purchase. Given mint RX3 are going for upto $30K this car should be worth every penny he gets. However if it was a 70 car I would consider it but given it is 73. This is a personal opinion if you want a stock 240z have the earliest you can get. So with that said if I wanted that type of thing I would never have sold HS30-00016. Quote
George Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 it's not enough to own a 240 it now has to be a 1970? this does look like a really great example. sure worth every penny. Quote
NZeder Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 it's not enough to own a 240 it now has to be a 1970? this does look like a really great example. sure worth every penny. Just a personal thing if I was to have a stock standard zed then the earlier the build the better IMHO. However if you want a 240z and don't have a zed already get whatever you can. I guess because I have owned a few zed now (including 2 x 280zx that you guys were not lucky enough to get, the 2 seater SWB version) I know that I like to change/mod/add performance upgrades etc that if I had a car like this I would want to play with it and that would be a shame so if it must be standard as stated the earlier the better. This car is still a good purchase as you it would be hard to find one in as good as condition (I know of a couple of other that are in the same or better class as this car locally here in NZ). EDIT: if you check the auction it is with 15% of the reserve so I would guess that is around $23000-24000 and given how much I sold my last 240z for (close to that with all the spare parts) it is a good purchase for someone and I am sure it will sell. And that is our NZ peso too so that is cheap for you Oz's Quote
chris240 Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 haaa, his build no is 2899 and mine is 2904...just thought Id share that with the world Quote

NZeder Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Ok so I went to look at this zed today for a mate who lives out of town. WOW if I did not need the $$ to finish my other zed project and build a garage to put the zed into when I get it home I would consider this car - it is a good a very good purchase. Quote
yellazed Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Looks very nice, but may not end up being a cheap import to Oz, because of freight, duty and GST. It may be coming from NZ, but is of Japanese origin, so the usual 15% (last time I looked) duty applies, as does GST (even on the freight). The exchange rate is in our favour atm, but whatever it fetches in NZ dollars add a grand or so and it will be about the Aussie dollar price, landed. Even so, could still be a good buy for someone. gilltech Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Best check out the customs website for applicable duties etc. I brought my Z over from NZ & didn't have to pay customs duty as it was more than 30 yrs old. But I did have to pay 10% GST on the 'landed value' of the car, which included the assessed vehicle's shipping cost & insurance just to get it here. That 'landed value' was compiled by an independant valuer, & was for a vehicle 'as landed' here at the wharf, assessing the vehicle's worth at that point in time, & taking into account the fact that the vehicle was not complied or registered 'on the road'. The valuation was quite thorough, & consisted of a 3-page condition report & assessed value. Quote
RBZ 260 Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 haaa, his build no is 2899 and mine is 2904...just thought Id share that with the world lol mines bit lower at 1860 though it is early 72 model. though but this one in NZ is one clean 240z. cant believe how good condition the id plate is. good car and buy for someone thats looking for that sort of thing. i prob still preffer getting my hands dirty. to me its also great fun building them than just owning and driving. even though finacialy my way wouldnt be an advantage. mossy Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Mines build 288, would that make it an early 1970? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted May 26, 2008 Moderators Posted May 26, 2008 Yeah, mines 121. Did a bit of research and apparently all 69's where LHD. So all early RHD were biult in the early 70's. Quote
NZeder Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Yeah, mines 121. Did a bit of research and apparently all 69's where LHD. So all early RHD were biult in the early 70's. correct when I owned HS30-00016 now that is early. It had 1970 date stamps on the following items, Seat belts, plug leads (yes it still had the original plug leads, they did not work above 5500rpm but new ones fixed that but I kept the 1970 ones), key number sticker in the glove box and Q & A stamp on the back of the tach and speedo So if number 16 was a 70 car I assume all RHD were from 70 on wards - that is why I think it is funny when those who think Nissan made the first 500 zed in 69 - yes for LHD but not for RHD. A mate own 900 and something and his has 71 date stamps so a 70 RHD 240z is a rare beast indeed. I have more pics of that car after my visit in the weekend. Here is an example if you want to see more PM your email address and I will send you a copy. Each seat has single rip in them about 1" long, the interior is one of the best I have seen and the whole car is almost like new - you could not restore a zed to this condition for the same dollars very good purchasing.
